  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Henrik1967 – paranoid surely?

What possible motive would a Sevco supporting, freemasonic Orangeman from Ayrshire have for awarding a penalty to Kilmarnock against Celtic?

  2. So – kontentious rainjurz keep the pressure on the Tims…..while the Tims are subjekted to horrible reffin’ and kommentary……………………

Thems may have improved enough to NOT drop as many points as last year and we have to compete at an ever higher Level to secure victories…..in Dundee Hamilton etc etc etc etc…………………..

    This season will be horrible.

    HH

  3. BTW……..

Big Packy is a fraud. A convenient stooge for a horrbly hurtin; channel fu’ o’ huns bent on the rainjurz

  4. When are we going to have anyone who can take a decent free kick or corner. It’s getting beyond a joke now

  5. My son made a point as we sit and watch Chelsea Liverpool. He thinks the Liverpool team is in danger of burn out as Klopp doesn’t do rotation. And for me therein lies the difference. Even if Lenny wanted to do likewise he couldn’t due to the fact at least two of our players pick up knocks/injuries in every game we play. Now why is that?

the ” Dundee , Hamiltion, f….. The Pope and the etc etc etc brigade……………”

Huns – Everyone, Anywhere – etc etc etc…………

    Cheers.

  7. When are we ever going to keep winning domestically and unbeaten away from home in Europe …

just think how good we will be when we master corners & free kicks :-)

  8. todays game was very enjoyable.

plenty of humger and desire from all our team.

a few mistakes but even so we could have had 5,6,7.

Bauer had a really good game.

James was the opposite of invisible, whatever that is.

Odsonne is some player, i got a great angle to view his second goal, the movement and finish were just excellent.

and the appearanve of the bunnet was a nice wee suprise, and how lucky was he in drawing his own ticket from the halftime draw (father teds raffle).

all in a really pleasant day.

i do like the earlier kick off.

NFL, do we still have some doubters ?

  9. ST. TAMS @GFTB

Agree with the comments re free kicks and corners. Look at today’s EPL games for examples – Liverpool – 2 free kicks with a little variation – result? 2 goals. Arsenal? Free kick winner. West Ham? Free kick clincher.

It looks like we approach these set pieces in an ad hoc manner. Ryan Christie invariably over hits a corner or a cross (although he was not quite so bad today). Knowing he does that, why don’t we have one player beyond the far post to return the ball into the goalmouth?

We need variation in our free kicks and corners. Griffiths, Odsonne and Christie can occasionally score directly with free kicks, but when faced with a MIB imposed wall only seven yards away, we need an alternative. Our biggest threat today was from a short corner, which is the favorite tactic of Barcelona. For one thing, it militates against the often unseen grappling in the box. If we play smart, we can make these set pieces into more frequent genuine scoring chances, rather than fast break opportunities for our opponents.

(funnily enough a moniker that you always have to type :-)

Our shys are rubbish, corners rubbish, free kicks rubbish … sometimes we need to moan about something

If our corners are so bad I would prefer a short corner and keep possession at least … but what do I know … (very little :-)

As a “bedwetter” I would like to congratulate the team and manager for the start to the season. Great football to watch as well. I had serious doubts about this season but delighted how things have gone so far.

  13. Didn’t look likely early on but soon turned into a beautiful dappled autumnal afternoon in Paradise.

Celtic liked a well oiled machine, peppered Kilmarnock’s new cattenachio and they will be SPL hard to beats again this season, especially if they turn single offering breakaways into goals. Forrest was taking pot shots, until he delivered a perfectly flighted ball from his ‘nae left fit’ for French Eddy, to restore parity with a rare headed goal and set Celts up for three second half points, you just knew were on the cards.

Windfall hero Fergus McCann the man from Croy, made one Celtic fan some £10,000 richer, 20 years after he left us in rude health, and the scene was set for Neil Lennon’s side to turn the dagger.

A game of many full backs Moritz Bauer had as tidy a home debut as you could imagine and ran the right flank, vacated by Forrest, he slipped in, Edouard for his second then Bolingoli chipped for Forrest to eventually net the third.

Even El Hamed our third full back got in on the act as a sub, and shone for his ten minutes, but the midfield was won by Brown, Christie, and MacGregor, who were all fitter faster and dedicated to work rate.

” Who was that referee? ” could sure be heard in every bit of the stadium footprint, Greg Aitken was his name, one you’ll know the next time.

    M.O.M. Edouard

  15. Good evening, friends. What’s really pleasing about tbis ole Men Of The Match thingmy that I’m running is the wide and varied opinions. 18 well educated and informed posters have already nominated their 3 best players from today and already the votes cover 9 different players.

Remember, you don’t have to sign up or join or anything. Just stick a short email, wih 3 players names to me at CQNPOTY@GMAIL.COM and be part of the ever growing clique!

Voting closes at 10pm tomorrow evening.

  16. Jobo 7.30pm

Good stuff with the man of the match stuff, I haven’t participated as I misread at the start and thought you had to be at the game :-)

But enjoying the varied opinions and like others cheers a very worthwhile addition about Celtic to the blog

Although with the couponeers, the man of the match, am pretty sure the Baldie family have a spreadsheet about everything from the dishes to the toilet :-)

  17. GFTB – spreadsheets make the world go round.

I’d like to think that those that vote have actually seen the whole game. But how would I ever know! Vote away, it’s only a bit of fun!!

  18. Jobo 7.47pm

Where would any of us be without a spreadsheet :-)

I wouldn’t dare vote if I didn’t see the game, and in real life the game certainly is viewed differently … it’s definitely a good insight and I quite liked the fact the opinions are wide spread … we can all look out the same window and see a different view

  19. LAST MAN STANDING 13 ROUND 2

Good Evening, and welcome to Round 3 of LMS 13.

Manchester City were the favourite team for contestants in Round 2, after a calamitous Round 1 and they didn’t disappoint.

Slightly odd week ahead as both CRC and Myself will be ’out of town’, although on different continents. As a result of this, there will be no Friday night reminder this week, so make sure you get your picks in early. If there’s no confirmation of your picks straight away, don’t worry. Different time zone will mean it’s not possible to respond quickly. All picks will be registered though. Send your entries to cqnpredictor@gmail.com

Both CRC and Bateen Bhoy will be selecting Tottenham Hotspur for Round 3.

CRC will be along shortly with a “Who’s in / Who’s out” list shortly

    Most enjoyable read, thank you

  22. Today was all about the 3 points as ever after a Euro away so job done in that respect. Early on you got the feeling it was going to be a long day even though we had them pinned in. Their goal was a poor one, one simple ball down the channel. Julien is good but definitely lacks pace and we will need to be careful when pushing up. Ajer is having a bit of a wobble just now and that is understandable, he is only young. Bauer was tidy and offered an outlet going forward. McGregor did well despite being man marked by the referee, seriously what was all that about. He looked shattered late on though as did a few others. Forrest was outstanding throughout and i liked the way Eddy shifted through the gears when we went behind and then dropped down again after the third goal, a sign of real quality and mentality. Christie offers so much as is now expected, his workrate particularly is outstanding. Boli decent again. Two great saves from Fraser in the second half, he has been a great addition. Time to shuffle the pack on Wednesday.
