My son made a point as we sit and watch Chelsea Liverpool. He thinks the Liverpool team is in danger of burn out as Klopp doesn’t do rotation. And for me therein lies the difference. Even if Lenny wanted to do likewise he couldn’t due to the fact at least two of our players pick up knocks/injuries in every game we play. Now why is that?

ST. TAMS @GFTB
Agree with the comments re free kicks and corners. Look at today’s EPL games for examples – Liverpool – 2 free kicks with a little variation – result? 2 goals. Arsenal? Free kick winner. West Ham? Free kick clincher.
It looks like we approach these set pieces in an ad hoc manner. Ryan Christie invariably over hits a corner or a cross (although he was not quite so bad today). Knowing he does that, why don’t we have one player beyond the far post to return the ball into the goalmouth?
We need variation in our free kicks and corners. Griffiths, Odsonne and Christie can occasionally score directly with free kicks, but when faced with a MIB imposed wall only seven yards away, we need an alternative. Our biggest threat today was from a short corner, which is the favorite tactic of Barcelona. For one thing, it militates against the often unseen grappling in the box. If we play smart, we can make these set pieces into more frequent genuine scoring chances, rather than fast break opportunities for our opponents.

Leeds’ 17yr old Billy Bremner with Blackpool’s 45yr old Stanley Matthews, 1960.
Didn’t look likely early on but soon turned into a beautiful dappled autumnal afternoon in Paradise.
Celtic liked a well oiled machine, peppered Kilmarnock’s new cattenachio and they will be SPL hard to beats again this season, especially if they turn single offering breakaways into goals. Forrest was taking pot shots, until he delivered a perfectly flighted ball from his ‘nae left fit’ for French Eddy, to restore parity with a rare headed goal and set Celts up for three second half points, you just knew were on the cards.
Windfall hero Fergus McCann the man from Croy, made one Celtic fan some £10,000 richer, 20 years after he left us in rude health, and the scene was set for Neil Lennon’s side to turn the dagger.
A game of many full backs Moritz Bauer had as tidy a home debut as you could imagine and ran the right flank, vacated by Forrest, he slipped in, Edouard for his second then Bolingoli chipped for Forrest to eventually net the third.
Even El Hamed our third full back got in on the act as a sub, and shone for his ten minutes, but the midfield was won by Brown, Christie, and MacGregor, who were all fitter faster and dedicated to work rate.
” Who was that referee? ” could sure be heard in every bit of the stadium footprint, Greg Aitken was his name, one you’ll know the next time.

Today was all about the 3 points as ever after a Euro away so job done in that respect. Early on you got the feeling it was going to be a long day even though we had them pinned in. Their goal was a poor one, one simple ball down the channel. Julien is good but definitely lacks pace and we will need to be careful when pushing up. Ajer is having a bit of a wobble just now and that is understandable, he is only young. Bauer was tidy and offered an outlet going forward. McGregor did well despite being man marked by the referee, seriously what was all that about. He looked shattered late on though as did a few others. Forrest was outstanding throughout and i liked the way Eddy shifted through the gears when we went behind and then dropped down again after the third goal, a sign of real quality and mentality. Christie offers so much as is now expected, his workrate particularly is outstanding. Boli decent again. Two great saves from Fraser in the second half, he has been a great addition. Time to shuffle the pack on Wednesday.
