  1. ONENIGHTINLISBON @ 10:36 AM,

Yes, I know that, but that’s not what you said…

“Again, really simple – 11 Celtic players should not be dropping points to Kilmarnock, Hearts, Motherwell, Hibernian…

And of course it depends on what you regard as a Celtic player.

Even those with the non-shrink fit Jerseys lost occasionally.

    Hail Hail

  2. Sevco will probably be top of the league with a 2point lead this afternoon ,Rogers and his 2 Assitants need to be replaced at the end of the season wether we win the league or not ,and if there is any good Celtic men or women who are not short of a few bob really need to buy shares from a old looking bunch of Directors who need to be replaced.

    ——

You can add Juranovic and GG to that list too.

Ange got players in Starfelt, Kyogo, GG and Juranovic who were all mid twenties and over.

Why were we prepared to sign these players for Ange but refused to do so for BR ? Instead Nat got a dozen under 23s with very little SUTTON1888 on 18TH FEBRUARY 2024 9:56 AM

  4. ONENIGHTINLISBON @ 10:49 AM,

The manager is culpable that’s for sure.

But if you are pointing blame you’re going to need more than eight fingers…

However the reason for our drop of in performance is due to recruitment…

    Bad planning,

    Poor Model

    No implementation

So IF we planned the recruitment policy alla Ange

IF we had a workable model alla Dominic McKay

We still don’t have the ability to proccure the talent as the January window clearly shows.

    Hail Hail

  5. Spurs fan on a phone in saying he loves the football ange has brought but wonders if he’s a one trick pony and sometimes easily sussed. Interesting

  6. Celtic plc need as their first priority the first team squad at the club to be the best we can afford led by the best manager and coaches to support that person. If that isn’t their priority and I don’t think it is that is the problem.

Celts for Change 2 Sack the board whatever you want to call it but this plc need to have that message delivered in a way the cannot ignore, fans do have a roll they buy season tickets merchandise the corporate boxes are often occupied by ordinary Tims who have done well, buy nothing more until the first team is the priority and this lazy plc with the 3 families ousted, the stupidity of keeping so much profit that we paid 11m in corporation tax last year, honestly, ridiculous, it looks that it has cost us this league , Lawwells Desmonds Strachans out and get a proper structure that puts the first team first and let that be the best it can.

This has taken Peter Lawwell and son 1 year to destroy the football side to the point where consistently we cannot beat Kilmarnock and the reason is we aren’t a good team and his son has recruited junk. Time for change again it will hurt initially but needs doing but it must be done now.

It would also be good to hear from Michael the Silent the CEO is he even still at Celtic?

Rather have a one trick pony than a washed up has been….

  8. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Turns out Lawwell and co aren’t masters of the universe after all.

Instead they have feet of clay.

Just like all the cheap duff wingers Lawwell Junior has inflicted on us.

  9. Can’t remember if it was Hibs or Aberdeen who after a bad result a couple of weeks ago, the players said the dressing room was not a good place with players screaming and shouting at each other demanding better .

Meanwhile over at ours , “what you having for dinner the night mate” ! We need some aggression !!!

  10. ONENIGHTINLISBON on 18TH FEBRUARY 2024 11:12 AM

Oh of course. I’d have him back in a heartbeat. Him leaving hurt more than any managerial loss since Wim the Tim.

  11. Piss poor all season, one dimensional possession based football that makes your eyes bleed. Takes 30 passes to get to opposition teams 18 yard box. No width, both fullbacks and wingers continually coming inside the pitch. Our backline can’t handle a press with no planned outball or 3, which is criminal. We lose possession in bad dangerous areas when pressed.

We have a handful of good players and a lot of not so good players. There is plenty of money in the bank and the sale of o’reilly, abada and frimpong sell on plus any fringe player we can move on should give us enough money to go out and get a good number of quality experieced additions in the door. It’s very clear that we need a better mix of experience and youth.

Right now, we plan for next season cause this one is looking disastrous. Even, if by some miracle we win the league its clear the club need to change the way it operates.

Well they are and it’s not surprising when we a putting out teams of Ralston, Welsh, Scales, Bernabei, Yang, Palma, Oh, Bernado and Kuhn.

No more than 2 from that lot should be on the pitch at any one time, yet such is the dire condition of our squad, all of them featured yesterday with predictable consequences.

The manager deserves a tonne of blame for being stupid enough to have them all on the pitch together. Rather than trolling us with these players, he should ask the guys he trusts to run themselves in to the ground.

Are Maeda, Kyogo, Adaye and Taylor incapable of playing 90 minutes of football once a week?

Keep them on the pitch for 90 minutes, get CCV, AJ and Hatate fit, get Nawrocki playing beside CCV and bin the projects.

Maybe then we will stop dropping points to Kilmarnock, Hearts, Motherwell, Hibernian…

  14. THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM on 18TH FEBRUARY 2024 11:23 AM

Or would it be easier to just change the manager? 🤔

  15. glendalystonsils on

Today , like most Tims, I will be relying on the likes of St Johnstone to do what we as a team can’t do ……. save us from falling behind the huns .

What a sad state of affairs . Especially as we are likely to be disappointed .

  16. There’s now talk (could be nonsense) that Celtic won’t allow Abada to leave on loan, only a sale. There’s obviously a big if, in terms of if that is true but…

You really couldn’t make up the level of poor decision making. Yes, sell him to a very limited market while most clubs aren’t allowed to make transfers. Of course that makes!

Why loan a guy to get him on the shop window and continue his development when you could punt him on the cheap?

Genuienly getting to the stage I think the board are expecting to pay out £100m to the boys club victims. The more cash in the bank the bigger that payout will be pushed. No idea if we have insurance to cover it, but standard payouts would amount to a tiny fraction of that.

Whatever is going on there’s something stinking going on behind the scenes.

  17. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Pep couldn’t get a tune from that lot.

We’ve rammed the squad full of rank mediocrity.

  18. BR’s team v Hearts in 2016, the first league game of the season:

    3-4-3

    C Gordon

    Tierney Toure Lustig

    McGregor Brown (c) Armstrong

    Forrest Griffiths Dembele

    Substitutes:

    S Sinclair

    E Izaguirre

    N Ciftci

    T Rogic

    S Janko

    S Johansen

    L Fasan

Easy to see the bereft of quality of the players in yesterdays team and substitutes.

    That’s the biggest problem.

    .

The PLC has changed the buying model to the detriment of quality to the first team pool.

    por cierto

  19. Only two things to say today and then I’m offski for the good of my health.

I really don’t buy the idea that lawwell, desmond and Co want to keep sevco close. However, I see where the idea comes from because they have made a rip-roaring arse of things at key times. Perception being reality, why the hell did PL come back in such a prominent capacity? It was an act of extreme folly or arrogance or both. The very successful often become myopic. The board rooms of this world are full of people highly rewarded for mediocrity and managing messes. Whether it’s the ongoing disaster of the economy, the climate, war or the relatively minor issue of football, failure is no impediment to getting a top job. In fact the higher up the food chain you are the less likely it is thar, unlike the guy on the shop floor that messes up and breaks a machine or something, you’ll never be sacked. You’ll be moved, headhunted or just left to carry on.

In short, it appears that Messrs lawwell and Desmond and Co are not very good at their jobs beyond making sure there is cash in the bank.

Second thing, see instead of giving returning players the first 60 minutes why not give them the last 50? That way we go into crucial parts of games with these guys (CCV, AJ, Hatate, Taylor) on the park fir the business end of things?

I’m convinced a fit Taylor and Johnstone prevent that goal yesterday and at least bring sone calm to the game that keeps Killie away from our box.

Right, off to ignore football for a week until I can start believing again. The league is in our own hands still so time to back the team until the end of the season. However, PL, Nicholson, Desmond and Co need some serious scrutiny when the last ball is kicked, mo matter the outcome.

  20. Simple logical question ..do our well paid athletes want to be 1st or 2nd ? ..or to put it another way do they want to continue to be well paid with increased career potential (move to premiership ) with increased wages earning potential ..,or do they want the reverse ?🤔…very simple professional choice in a cut throat market…and very little to do with supporters, managers or owners 🤔

  21. Prestonpans bhoys on

Just noticed the stats on the hun game, 20 minutes played and one shot! And not on target, must be some game!

  22. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

This will sound crazy, but I’d bring James Forrest in to the team and move Maeda back over to the left.

At least JF knows what’s required at Celtic and has vast experience.

It would be far from ideal, but from what I can see he could at least contribute something compared to the empty jerseys we persist with every week.

  23. The players are playing for THEIR careers ..and if they want evidence just look along the road ..one word Tavernier …serial loser …and nobody wants him 🤔

  24. Winning equals progression ..,loosing equals decline …..The players ought to reflect on that brutal Football and economic fact of life 🤔

I’m trying to think of the options we have and this seems the most likely to happen.

At least we’ll have someone who is a proven winner, has better game management and as you say must be better than some of our other options.

Other than that (and the manager going) that’s all I’ve got.

I’m also still at a loss as to why we sold Turnbull – and I wasn’t his biggest fan – but he was at least a threat going forward.

Not crazy at all . James F might have lost a bit of pace but from what I’ve seen so far , he’s a better option than any of the new guys . He’s also not scared to have a pop at goal . Yang might come good but we shouldn’t be relying on him this season , as for Khun , I don’t see a £3m player there at all . Daizen would also be more effective on the left , with him and Jamesie swopping over at certain points in the game .

Like you, I don’t believe there is a policy of keeping Sevco close perse…

    However two points.

Celtic PLC operate with certain income streams, the “old firm” model is key to their planning

We are run as a business rather than a Sports Club, so, solid business practice takes presidency over Sporting excellence.

Our aims and objectives in regards to football is to dominate domestic football and take part, though not compete, in the European arena.

(Unlike the “Elite” status the Corporate guff tells us).

That in reality means we budget to be better than Sevco, the fanbase is content and it gets us access to European football.

Of course to make ourselves competitive in European football would mean a much greater investment and pro-rata there is not the RoI in the risk / benefit analysis.

So in reality the “old firm” business model and investment strategy means we are close to Sevco.

Of course the ironic thing is when we have “went for it”, in a sporting context, BR Mk1 and Angeball, we have made more money, and added much more value, with the resultant returns much better.

Another irony, as has been pointed out, if Sevco can win the League and perform in Europe this season, they will be ahead of us, in all meaningful metrics.

Which means we need to get, much better and more competitive as a football Club.

    Win~Win… cough, cough

Yes it does but we’ll be starting a massive rebuild before facing someone like Feyenoord or Fenerbahce.

  30. The huns aren’t that good …but what they do have and we severely lack …a settled back 4 and all reasonably good at their jobs … we can’t say the same….AND they shoot from distance fs !!
