    Our failure to plan for players being away for the Asian cup, our decision to let Hetate go and play after being injured prior to the tournament and our abject signings during the January 2024 highlights the total mismanagement of the club. Added to this is the shambolic handling of the Abada situation. The Gaza genocide has been happening for the last 4 months plus. Abada is obviously affected by this situation. We should have sold him in the January window and bought a decent replacement with the money instead of continuing to pay him and leave him out of the squad.

    I think the time for big news was the summer.

     

    Many on here suggested we were weaker than last season.

     

    We suggested improvements, especially left back, defensive mid, robust center forward and keeper.

     

    Fast fwd 6 months and the obvious needs remain so.

     

    Hopefully, we are already planning for our next European venture. Whether we go in as current or former champions is still tbc.

     

    We need football men making the key football decisions.

    That’s not to say the officials wouldn’t have ‘manufactured’ a penalty for them had it been needed .

    It’s not the refs and it’s not var that is doing the damage, it’s ourselves.

     

    The huns are doing the simple things successfully, we on the other hand complicate things with our possession based tactics. Pass and pass and pass. How many times do you hear yourself saying, “Just ****ing shoot!”

    I agree in retrospect we should’ve sold or loaned Abada in January, but I think folk would’ve been in uproar at the time had it happened.

    Huns game doesnt really change anything.

     

     

    We need to be perfect in our remaining games and not loose at Ibrox.

     

     

    Huge ask of this team, but not impossible IF we get our big players back and fit for the run in.

     

     

    Reo has been a gigantic miss for us as has CCV

    CCV didnt have a pre season after a simple proceedure, guess it ‘so simple, if you dont have that injuries can happen more often, and, they have, hell knows what’s going on with Hatate’s legs he is built like a weightlifter from all his squats.

    We have no excuse for this, the Whyte’s and Kelly’s had no money and lacked business acumen , this mob don’t, but won’t spend money on the first team, money created out of the pockets of the support, by buying decent quality players, not guys out of boys clubs who will never make it here, perhaps it’s also a symptom of the failure of Lennoxtown and whatever goes on up there.

    Both CCV and AJ were sent “home”, from NT camps as they were unfit, yet kept playing for Celtic.

     

     

    Don’t know what was going on but one’s things for sure – that team was run into the ground.

    Stockpiling cash is a strange choice for any business.

     

     

    Whatever we think of the board , they have some very talented people . the strategy of hoarded cash for bonus’s is a bit too simplistic for my liking. These are all very wealthy men, the NEDs have had stellar careers in blue chip companies and will have earned salaries we could only dream off. They must approve this strategy.

     

     

    Investment this year was paramount to reach the reaches of the revised CL.

     

     

    I just dont understand why we need so much cash in hand. I would love to know.

    8 points clear to 2 points behind in 3 months. Its ok though have my £700 for next years book, £120 for next years euro package, £280 for my 4 new tops, oh and I’ll have a POY ticket and life insurance please 🙈. We’re absolute mugs to keep funding these people!!!

     

     

    I’m done after this season. Made that decision after another shambolic European campaign and seen nothing since to make me change my mind. Someone else can have my seat next year 👍

    I would love Paul67 to gives us a clue

     

     

    My own view and there are a couple of options

     

    Option one:

     

    DD was thinking of selling – possibly in the summer

     

    Brendan as Manager, League Champions, Champions League automatic football and £75m cash

     

    No better time to sell for top dollar

     

    Obviously that’s all gone a bit wrong

     

     

    Option two:

     

    I believe there is still bad blood between BR and PL from Brendans first spell and the way he left

     

    Unfortunately I do not believe DD and or PL and or Nicholson reconciled the fallout

     

    So BR joins a toxic culture for £3m a year for 3 years.

     

    BR wants a bigger and final say on players coming in, PL and Son dont trust him with the money

     

    Why Hire him you would ask – I agree and don’t know why

     

    Net result we keep the money and the team get weaker

     

    More importantly DD and Nicholson let this circus run

     

     

    Please feel free to add more options, I have no inside info its all just an opinion

    As usual there are the known, unknowns and unknown, unknowns.

     

     

    My highfaluting thoughts turned to this…

     

     

    It was the word from “Dublin”, that PL was definitely not coming back as Chairman.

     

     

    PL came back as Chairman

     

     

    It was the word from Glasgow that BR was definitely not coming back as Manager

     

     

    BR came back as Manager

     

     

    The CEO went out to close the deal on BR’s return, the Chairman was in Istanbul at the time.

     

     

    Since BR returned he has been unsupported in his aim to rebuild the team and take it to the next level.

     

     

    The CEO has disappeared without trace…

     

     

    What’s that all got to do with hoarding money?

     

     

    Well a lot of folk like to label DD as our owner, technically he’s not, he’s more of an activist investor.

     

     

    Now, if you were a PLC Board, and you wanted to get shot of an activist investor.

     

     

    Having a large hoard of cash would mean you weren’t reliant on the ai for capital funds or cash flow, the Organisation would be financially independent.

     

     

    If you wanted to buy back shares, or dilute the shareholding you’d have the cash to do it.

     

     

    Pie in the sky, maybe, but I’ve been saying before the season kicked-off, there seems to be a “schism” among the Celtic hiheidyins.

     

     

    Very little I’ve seen this season (and before) so far would suggest otherwise.

    He played 7 minutes against Madrid at the end of October and didn’t play again for us after that. Surely that would give us plenty of pull regarding his participation in that tournament. Or does the country have the final say over the club no matter what.

    Cant see DD selling. his wealth is such that his 30% share being sold wouldnt even shift the dia on his bank account. Its all about power for these guys, the cash was earned decade ago

     

     

    Best oh my knowledge , Celtic is self sustaining, DD has never provided any investment, other than buying shares.

     

     

    i jsut cant see “in fighting” at the root cause if all our issues.

    But if the speculation is correct £3m a year for 3 years

     

    With 2 years to go its £6m

    Hmmmmm….not sure this league has gone yet.

     

     

    *yesterday as soon as the final whilst went I shut down but NOT before I saw the first couple of postings one of which was PL getting it again, and there are zero hunterlopers on here wtf.

     

     

    Anyway, later on I watched the man city/chelski game which seemed to go from end to end with the latter looking more than worthy of at least a point as only a fortuitous city deflected goal denied them all 3, for a while it had seemed Pochettino’s coat was on a shoogly peg but this and their win at Villa Park may have reprieved him, as for city big €60 million Haaland, he was absolutely raphael and the much rated de brunye, who I rate as one of the best midfielders out there, all he seemed to do was run about and take corners, so even the best have their off days.

     

     

    Anyway, back tae us, later on through the night a thought ran through my head it was “Strachan Strachan gtf”, that season unknown tae us was to be his last, as he had given his notice, it also wisnae very good on the park either as the calvinists had knocked us out of the LC and the sheep the SC both at Parkheid.

     

     

    Our league performances wurnae that great also with defeats at ester road, bigot dome 0-3, ICT as well as ties at kilmasonic, home tae the hibbees and arabs, before losing again at the huns the week after being knocked out of the SC by the sheep when the following week, came that loss tae murderwell, and that seemed to be it, game over.

     

     

    Not so as 8 days later we went tae fir park where we gubbed them 4-1, 3 days after that on that magical night with naesurname, mcsleekit, ding dong and all their reprobates giving each other hugs and high fives as it looked to be ending 1-1 the ball was floated intae the box, Sammy nodded it back tae the heid who deftly crossed tae skippy who nodded it on tae big Jan Vennegoor of Helensburgh who again nodded it past the stranded hun goalie, we were now back in it, the sheep 1-0 at home before another magical night when a skippy wonder goal led us tae 3-2 win which led us tae Tommy Burns Thursday night when we clinched 3 in a row.

     

     

    So as David Soul once said “don’t give up on us”
