starry plough – excellent point about Charlie. With every player match fit, does Charlie actually fit into our strongest starting eleven?
Truth is, he’s the new Jackie Mac, a Celtic fan in the Hoops who can play in a number of positions.
P67 has mentioned a few times that we need Charlie’s deliveries into the box and it’s a very good point, but who should make way for him?
Going back to the starting 11 today, Kayal will not be hapy about the h/t substitution, but he needs to work much harder to remind us of the player we had in his first season at the club.
Miku going straight up the tunnel when he came off spoke volumes. He won’t stay and we won’t miss him!

As an old, deceased Celtic friend used to say to me under the pylon at the London Road side of the Celtic End, when I would complain about a performance, ‘ Behave yourself. You have to see the bad ones to appreciate the good ones.’
Thanks, Arthur McArdle, I have never forgotten your advice.
Indeed a comedy of errors for the first goal, which left two minded Forster stranded. It’s a cliche to say a player that has come back from injury didn’t look fit when he plays poorly, but Adam Matthews didn’t look fit.

Okay Bhoys and Ghirls have a good evening, I’m off to the snowy field to wait for the Great Pumpkin and ask him if we can have our Celtic team back for Tuesday night…
I said on here about a month ago that I don’t think Charlie Mulgrew can expect to be a first pick. There is only one major reason for picking him and that is his dead ball delivery. Today, Commons was taking all the free kicks, apart from the one from which Charlie brought a good save out of their keeper. He doesn’t have the pace of Wilson or Izzaguirre; Ledley has to be our LM
Mulgrew started the game at the back and was swapped with Efe almost 30mins in. He was a great midfielder in Moscow……
Ive been saying since season start, in my opinion, mathews isnt good enough and his pace gets him out of many situations due to his poor positional sense.
Last point, im not a fan of the rotation system, play the strongest team available and change if tiredness kicks in. I appreciate the rigours of Europe but i guarantee every player would rather play than train.

Especially when the 2 played on Tuesday and both looked comfortable in there positions. Why change.
We seem too keen to change the central defence for no apparent reason. In my view its the one position on the park where you need a solid partnership who know each others strengths and weaknesses. Changing it for the sake of it seemed very odd.

Lenny the tinker man today.
He made too many changes, in personnel, tactics and formations.
Chas started at CB, Efe in centre mid, Kayal right mid, joe left.
Forrest on left, Miku up top and KC right to mid.
No right side forward.
I think the idea was for the full backs to go forward, with KW, Chas and Efe forming a central back 3.
Kayal never did find out where he was supposed to be, joe was lost as Izzy, then Chas moved into left mid, when Forrest was already there. We couldn’t go right coz we had no one there and Adam lost all confidence after a few early mistakes. Miku never had a chance, he
didn’t get the normal support that Hoops gets.
So all in all a poor performance.Broonie, Vic and Sammi 3 out of our most effective midfield missing today.
We are only good when we all know where we are and where our teammates are.
Today we had no fulcrum, no base to build on.
If Vic doesn’t play, his replacement has to play the Vic role, ditto the other two.
At no time today did we look fluent or comfortable, or like a team. 11 individuals.
Lessons will be learned and Tuesday will be better.
I hate it when we get beaten.

I worry a wee bit about Charlie. He has made the Cb position his own. Now a combination of Wilson picking his game up, and Efe arriving has caused the manager to try and fit Charlie in elsewhere.
I’d hate to see him shunted around and trying to get a game all over the park.
I wasn’t as surprised by some at the performance, given our midweek exertions……
I think he was a bit embarrassed when he realised he was getting a rocket rather than a clap.
