One thing this pandemic has shown is that almost all politicians

are above the law and can do or say whatever they want and get

away with it whether it be BOJO or WEE NICOLA

Some of the UK and Scottish governments decisions earlier in this

pandemic putting the economy before lives

Would have them in charge up for manslaughter

TOMMYJOAD – thanks for a touching ode to yer Da and to a vintage Celtic era.

This phrase of yours struck me: ‘For Celtic fans of my father’s generation, that Celtic team were men like themselves with the same daily concerns, who just happened to be sportsmen.’

Compared to the modern-day footballers who devote 100% of their precious time to perfecting their sporting lives, there is something classically heroic (like a superman or spiderman) who had everyday jobs, yet transformed into something really special when called to act; thanks for placing a nice thought in the old bonce.

In answer to your question no one comes on here banging a drum for the Tories, in the way they do for the cult.

Doubtless there may be one or two who vote Tory, (and I’m not talking about Scottish Cooncil elections, when we should all be casting a vote for them) but they keep quite about it.

A very good point in your last sentence there . I was annoyed enough after some of our performances last season without the manager insulting our intelligence in his post match comments . At least Ange doesn’t bullshit us .

  7. his heid is doon already.

    that didnt take long.

  9. we are a poorer defensive team with the return of loanees to parent clubs , welsh is far to small to be playing centre back , try him at right back , the young SW player is way off first team level and taylor is also to small , Ralston is just hopeless.

  10. Can I ask again

Why do professional footballers have to self isolate for 10 days ??

Players flew in and out for the recent Euros

    No Isolation

I watched an interview yesterday with a golfer, who was contacted on Tues, and offered a position in the open, American based, but a South African I believe

    No self isolation

So why do any players we are like naked with to sign, need a 10 day isolation????

    Confused

  11. and add to that J Kennedy still setting the defence up at set pieces and corner kicks heaven help us.

  12. TOMMY JOAD

Lovely tribute to your dear Dad!

Sorry to read of his passing.

    May he rest in peace.

Stephen Welsh is reported between 6’2″ – 6”3″

Our new reported Swedish Centre Half

    Carl Starfelt is 6’1″ – 6′”2

Dependant on what link you look at for both,

I put up yesterday, I thought Murray or Hjelde look more first team ready than Urghohide ( even though younger, and less first team games)

Also Montgomery or Hjelde look far better option at left back than Taylor or Bolingoli

I also thought O’Connor gave far better balance at right back than what we seen from Ralston

May be that me to give our highly rated youth a chance instead of signing a raft of new .19 year olds every year

BOOED onto the park, booed on his first touch, booed when he scored, and booed when he came off. It was just another away match in Scotland for Aiden McGeady.

The winger conducted proceedings at Tynecastle as he scored a double while going back and forth with supporters back in the Tynecastle stands for just the second time in 16 months.

Former Celtic man McGeady is no stranger to a hostile atmosphere when playing away, so revelled in his pantomime villain role in the capital as he put Robbie Neilson’s Hearts side to the sword in a pre-season friendly played in the Gorgie sunshine.

An opener from the spot and second with a fierce first-time finish was bad enough for the 2,000 fans inside Tynecastle, but supporters erupted in boos as McGeady taunted them with his celebrations before being booked for simulation.

Gesturing towards the home support with his right-arm aloft after each goal McGeady firmly put the limelight on himself, and he made sure he was the centre of attention when he left the pitch walking from the far side and jokingly applauded Jambos supporters.

Despite the loss Hearts boss Robbie Neilson was pleased with the warm-up workout which highlighted areas to focus on for the Jambos before league duty kicks off.

Commenting on McGeady, Neilson said: “He’s still sharp, got good feet and good movement. I think he’s done very well for them last season, he came back out the cold storage in January and was excellent, so I think he’ll be a big player for them this year.”

It’s encouraging from a supporters perspective that we are watching the same game as Ange. You’d hope that slightly older experienced players will have the belief to play the Ange way.

Early days I know but I worry about our defence, little improvement from last year.

We must get rid of the players who want to leave, they cannot be good to have around the place especially with all the young guns about.

Keep an eye out for young Mick Schummacher, shit car but he IS the future of F1

  21. Unless you are Ange, it is very hard to explain the logic of the pre-season games that Celtic have played.

Now, I usually dismiss the results of pre-season games as unimportantand in no way indicative of how the season will pan out, but it is not the results that worry me; it is the selection process.

I understand that, while fitting in pre-season fitness training, the team is going to look a bit heavy legged in matches and , therefore, rotation of players is a necessity. That accounts for the relatively satisfactory performances in the first two friendlies versus Sheff Wed and Charlton, two League One clubs.

I also understand the graded build up to playing two tougher Championship clubs in Bristol City and Preston, as a way of sharpening for the CL qualifier. But, at this stage, we would usually start to see the shaping of the team that is going to appear in the qualifier and more of those players getting 70 to 90 minutes on the pitch. Instead we saw the same level of squad rotation as we were seeing in the opening two matches, albeit with the introduction of the newly acquired Israeli winger.

What I did not see, and expected to see, was the disappearance of hte very young players who will not see game time early on e.g. Moffat- no harm to the lad but he has just broken into the reserve set up and , despite giving his all, needs a bit more experience before he is going to get past Forrest, Dembele et al. The same applies to young Murray the CB, who looked good but has just turned 18 and had little reserve football last year.

I did not see the gradual introduction of seasoned pros liek Ajer and Edouard, Christie, Ntcham and Bitton playing more of a role as we might need them to beat Midjtyland. With the possible exception of Edouard none of them are going to clubs where appearing in a CL qualifier is going to prevent clubs like Brentford or Burnley from signing them. I know Forrest had to isolate but he was eligible for the Preston game and should have been fit enough to do 45 minutes.

The only conclusion I can draw is that Ange has written most of these players off as potential selections for the CL qualifiers, either because he does not rate them or they are going to depart imminently and canot be trusted to get stuck in.

So, my sense of this is that we won’t see Forrest, Ntcham, Ajer, Christie, Bitton, Shved and, possibly, Edouard in the ties versus the Danes. We may also be missing the injured Dembele, Soro and Johnston and Forrest is likely to make the bench only.

Ange, it seems, is going to go gung ho with the kids, and I include Shaw and Uroghohige in that, or he is going to use them until he can get his 3 or 4 new signings in to share the load.

If I was to guess the line up I wouuld go Barkas Ralston Welsh Uroghige Taylor McGregor Soro or Shaw Abadi Turnbull Montgomery or Henderson with Ajeti up front.

I like the sound of Ange Postecoglou, and I am sure he will learn and recover from any mistakes he makes, but there might have been a point to Neil Lennon’s argument that he is not yet aware of the European challenges that lie ahead. We need to beat Midjtyland to ensure we are in European competition, otherwise we are fighting to get into the 3rd tier competition.

Are you happy with where Celtic are at the moment, with a Champions League qualifier in 2 days time??

You think that’s effective corporate management???

  23. Go tell the Spartim on

By all accounts, Ange has them doing pretty full on training sessions, which may be a reason for the continued rotation, perhaps giving himself more options in selection, I think the first half team yesterday will be close to the starting 11 for Tuesday, though he did say there would be some who weren’t quite ready for yesterday’s game. The defence is the major worry which I’m sure is not lost on Ange, the support or indeed our European opposition. Can you still use a wildcard signing in the tie?

Grass will be uncut on oor side as well we all start voting Tory in cooncil elections as Ernie tells us. 👍

  25. Always too late to sign players in time for the qualifiers, and ten days isolation puts the hope of new faces for Tynecastle at best, yesterday’s return to a virtually empty Celtic Park makes the news supporters can support soon, all the more welcome.

This leaves the new manager with a mix of untried youngsters and the potential return of some old faces. Edouard and Christie could make the side along with Nir Bitton and James Forrest not Ajer who’s out ( injured! )

Liam Shaw looks the most first team ready, and £3.5M Abada who I think will start on the bench was signed just in time to take up a hugely vacant wing berth, which for the first time in ages, give us a balance of wingers, covering the flanks.

With a complete back four still in flux verse Preston, AP is clearly scratching his head with David Turnbull Callum McGregor practically the only cerst to start in midfield. The need for a right back didn’t ever go away when Lustig was retired, and it’s a glaring failure that comes back to haunt us now in season three.

A experienced CB to hit the ground running and Eddy and Co to rise to the challenge even if its to attract suitors with the correct amount of cash. If Furuhashi is the new striker, he might help Ajeti whom we all hope has some kind of second season syndrome
