  1. James Forrest has been a great servant to Celtic. He has been very underrated and Subject to much unwarranted criticism over the years.

Arguably Patrick Roberts greatest achievement was getting JF to up his game.

Additionally he almost single handedly got Scotland to the Nations league.

He is only 30, with a good few years in the tank. But will it be in Paradise?

    HH.

  2. Happy Valentines day to all.

This is also the day, this is the day 10 years ago that ” Rangers” plunged into administration.

    Woohoo.

  3. All things being equal in the coming weeks, and if Jota was injured, Ange likely to play Maeda, Kyogo and Abada as front three before MJ gets in the team again. He is back up to the back up.

JF will get time on to give Abada time off on occasion.

If anyone was ever whispering in the boardroom that we didn’t need to spend 6.5 million on Jota because MJ was going to come good. Time to write the cheque.

  4. Apologies if this has been discussed already, but one one of the added effects from Jullien’s return is the extra pressure on CCV to decide his next move. Celtic’s hand is now stronger in terms of the need to sign him up but on the other hand, CCV may not want to be competing for that starting slot

  5. The issue with continuing to select and play players like JF and MJ when they are clearly not performing, is they then end up blocking the path for any younger players coming through from the academy.

As much as I love JF , I think the years of injuries are catching up with him. I also don’t think he can adapt to Anges style.

As for MJ , I hope the boy goes onto have a good career. But it won’t be at Celtic

  6. The brass neck of some people. But not at all surprising.

The DR this week offering an unchallenged account from Paul I’m-a-good-guy Murray over the lead up to 14/2/2012. This Murray character, an Accountant, was on the Ibrox board five years before Administration Day. He was in that boardroom during the Sir Minty EBT period. Did he question the risk, did he recognise the potential liabilty ? Naw he didnae. He sat with his mouth shut, happy to have the blazer, tie, and the status. A total fraud. Alastair Johnston’s another one.

Always hold the directors to account, give them a rough ride if necessary. They are there to serve us. Fergus, and a few others, saved Celtic from becoming TriggersBroom FC. But only just. Never again.

  7. Jimdom

Agree on the Paul Murray interview. Disappointing that a person with the involvement he had is allowed to spout his nonsense unchallenged.

They say that “History is written by the Victors”. Not in this case, it would appear.

  8. On the same theme,

Wiggy Smith was in the MOS yesterday, telling tales of what happened as they went into administration.

As Director of Football he was responsible for transfers.

they went to germany on a preseason, staying in a family hotel he gets friendly with the owners because “i can speak german”.

Many months later he receives a letter from the owner “can we have our 30,000 euros please”.

He challenges Whyte, surely this should have been paid

ah yes Gordon, we will pay it now.

    his summation

“i had no idea things were so bad”

    liar

  9. Reading a article there on Ronny Delia ,I think Aberdeen should be interested in him a good coach who I thought was treated unfairly with some of the Celtic support,

“i had no idea things were so bad”

Smith must have bought that (talking) thing on his head in Munich then.

    Wir Sind In Der Scheisse

  11. Watching MOTD last night. There was a Arm ball incident. The panel were bamboozled why it was not penalised. The rules were then put up on the screen with a diagram of a player. If the ball strikes the arm above where a short sleeve strip would come to,no penalty.Anywhere under, penalised. The panel and presenter said they did not know this rule.

So by the official laws,CCV should not have been penalised,as above the short sleeve line is classed as shoulder, below, arm.

  12. CCV’s arm was by his side so even under the older rules he’d be fine, he didn’t make himself bigger.

  13. NL vs MJ / JF

Under the tutelage of NL the following things happened.

An injured JF was encouraged to play in a number of games to the point that he had a major breakdown which kept him out of the game for months and has had a long term impact on his confidence.

Very public haranguing of MJ on live TV.

If the club lose a talent with the potential of MJ then the issue is with the club not the player.

Such an event would suggest that our youth coaching set up is not fit for purpose and that more needs to be done to improve the situation — the talent lost to the club in recent years points to structural failures at just about every level.

And then we have the St Ninian’s Glee Club ./ High School Musical nonsense that does everything apart from delivering mature individuals ready for the professional game.

Big Issues — NL Part2 was a complete train wreck that PL and the board allowed to roll on and on for over two years.

Big Issues — the youth set up is patchy in the extreme with the very public shame of talent jumping ship in all directions all too often.

Relevance for today — AP is doing well but he cannot fix all the issues on his own.

  14. I feel sorry for MJ,crying yesterday with another injury. The boy has had no luck at all. What annoys me with him,is he has a God given talent to play football.Magical feet. What seems missing,to me anyway,is the lack of desire to work on improving the talent.By now he should know when to pass, when to dribble, when just to lay the ball off.Crossing is poor.No great strength. We all have been waiting for him to put it all together, but like yesterday,a great start, which just fizzles out.

The happy clappers bought into PL big time.

The PL Booster club did its job with total focus.

The support were brainwashed with all the PL as the SSM tripe.

How much damage did that do to the club / team?

How long did it take for the true believers to realise he was all ego and no talent?

How many excuses did P67 roll out to explain his many failures?

Where SDM led the TFOD masses towards the eventual cliff edge with far too many being critical of the reality they did not want to see — PL diminished CFC over a period of 17 years that was difficult for far to many to comprehend until the shi*show of the 20/21 season made it impossible to ignore.

Same booster club / same blind obedience / similar attitudes / different endings.

  16. Mad Mitch – MJ has been receiving coaching from Ange for 6 months. He has been training alongside Abada and Jota for most of that time too so has had the chance to learn from players who are, I think, better than him. He has the opportunities to prove himself. He does not appear to have improved one bit. Sutton said after the game that we know MJ can dribble, but his decision making is several levels below Jota. Hard to disagree. The improvement in the team’s performance as soon as Jota came on was there for all to see. MJ also is injury prone, yesterday he broke down when there was no one near him.

JF has been a terrific player for us and, in my opinion, still has experience and quality to offer. But the younger, hungrier, more direct and harder working Abada is going to increasingly be first choice. Age and injuries have taken their toll on his game and understandably so.

  17. MJ needs to move on as much for his own career as anything else. No one gains from pretending he has a future at Celtic.

  18. god bless saint ninians and the celtic academy.

imagine a grown man being jealous of the youths.

    —————

The partnership between Celtic Youth Academy and St Ninian’s High School in Kirkintilloch has now been ongoing for over a decade and has continued to go from strength to strength.

Chris McCart’s vision of marrying the football development of the Academy players with their education has formed the basis for a partnership that will result in well-rounded, well educated young men who will go on to be successful footballers and hopefully challenge for first team places.

    ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP

St Ninian’s High School in Kirkintilloch works alongside the Club, identifying a number of promising youngsters from the Academy, allowing them to take advantage of the specially adapted school curriculum.

A place within the school allows each boy the dedication and time needed for both their daily secondary education and training with the academy at our training facility in nearby Lennoxtown.

    DAILY SCHEDULE

The boys’ daily timetable is adjusted to allow them the ability to train during the day and after school.

Through the partnership programme pupils will train:

3 times per week during the day within the high school

4 days after school at the Academy facility in Lennoxtown

    GRADUATES

Since the partnership started, no fewer than 13 Academy boys have broken into the first team:

Jack Aitchison | Karamoko Dembele | Ewan Henderson | Jack Hendry | Micky Johnston | Jamie McCart | Calvin Miller | Aidan Nesbitt | Anthony Ralston | Scott Robertson | Kieran Tierney | Joe Thomson | Stephen Welsh

    Brilliant, I really enjoyed that.

It’s pretty obvious in anything you see regarding Ange from Aus that he is very well respected and maybe even loved.

  20. Elite youth programme being run by a storied football team with a £100mill T/O target producing players that struggle to develop a professional career in the Scottish Championship …

That is some legacy for the last 10 years.

It has however produced an inexhaustible supply of boyfriends for the apprentice WAGS of Kirky / Lenzie and beyond.

Jr wants to know what is happening in the CFC youth system — a quick conversation with his female cousin and he gets it all in technicolour.

Who is up / who is down / who is clubbable / who is awkward / who is in / who is out — football development is secondary to the group social dynamic and has been for quite some time — probably started with the 98’s or 99’s.

KT got out just in time.

  21. Youths — either CMcC needs a new vision or we need a new CMcC.

On a similar vein we need a new TMcI — he looks shell shocked.

    Time for a change.

do they have a SPL ref on their staff.

why would a grown man be interested in the social life of teenagers.

What, you mean like quizzing them on their experience of anal sex?

I agree, complete weirdos the people who support that kind of thing.

Doh, starting political discussion alert, must be my imagination because you never start them right?

  25. Yeti @ 11.42

These are not teenagers per se — they are / should be the future of the club.

We are losing young talent to BM / AN Other because they want to be part of a professional football development operation and not a glee club.

Incredible that so many want out — so that by 16 / 17 they jump from the world they know to a totally new environment with language / cultural barriers.

  26. What I want to know about St Ninians is what state the classroom doors are in.

Have they got gaps at the bottom or not? Is any remedial work required, and if so who is going to pay for it?
