  1. From what could have been at the start of the window is what makes this all so sad. Dembele and Eddie looked like a dynamic and lethal partnership… If we could add a centre back and a right back and maybe some cover for Brown we’d be a force to be reckoned with.

Now we seem impotent and one dimensional. Worse still we’re an injury or two away from really struggling in the league.

Thinks transpired that we couldn’t control, like losing Dembele. But the way he was lost and the lack or preparation cost us dearly.

We’re now in a position where we’ve brought in a centre back who looks quality on loan, he’ll be a fixture in the side alongside Boyata, and we’ll lose them both next summer and need to go into £30m+ qualifiers with a new centre back pairing.

Commons was right about Eddie, he needs a year playing but without the pressure of being the main striker – but even then I’m not convinced he’ll be a major goalscorer. Seems like the type that’ll score in bursts throughout his career. He does or can offer a lot more but not convinced he’s a 30-40 goals a season player.

Getting a bit fed up completely dominating games but struggling to get results.

  2. On Celtic TV last night they showed highlights from the Dev team’s 2-0 win against Aberdeen.

Morgan and Arzani looked lively and should be given an outing soon.

There’s also a peach of an opportunistic goal from young Henderson.

  3. I am amazed with some of the critism of some of the Celtic players , while James Forrest is soo poor he is mr invisible

He is 27? Never played two good games in a row

A winger who rarely crosses or creates chances

    I just don’t get it

  4. One nil, clean sheet, hardly any empty seats on a driech night, viva la Celtic Glasgow! √

A wee suggestion for Mr Brendan, move KT into midfield in between Broony n Ntcham, move Calmac to left back.

    Whit do I know.

Oh and, the Villa Real fans are all raving about Stevie G, calling him a gentleman for standing trackside and shaking the hands of all VR players, according to the papers.

    Laters.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  5. I usually enjoy watching us probing for an opening against defensive formations. Last nigh I was bored.

On the plus side: Tierney, Broonie, Benkovic , Boyata, three points and team effort.

    Cheerio for now.

  6. 50 shades of green on

    Morning Tims….

All in a good mood I see.

Another one-sided one nil win, whilst the chuckle brothers football wasnt as bad last night, we now seem to have a few players off the pace at the moment.

I ain’t gonna get into the who whats or why its happening most of us already know, they either have to “ship up OR they manager ship’s them out “.

But having said that , I will still get behind everyone of them every bloody time they pull on the hoops.

Form is a temperamental state , class is permanent.

    Hail Hail.

  7. To further improve the fan experience Celtic will paint the park in black and white lines with 4 yellow flashing globes repacking the corner flags.

    MWD

  8. Good morning, friends and a big happy Friday from a rather damp and squalid looking East Kilbride. Fine margins last night, eh! Far from our best performance but if we are going to win one nil then getting the goal at the death at least gives us a bit of excitement! Onwards to the wonderful playing surface that is Rugby Park….

  9. morning bhoys from a wet and blustery Cheshire. as I said last night thought dedryk and benkovic were great,.but how long will we have them for.hh,

  10. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Malone bhoy,

Loosing Dembele was planned it was not out of our control it was taken out of the managers control when the CEO told the agent he could look for another club.

  11. Good morning CQN from a sunny and smiley Garngad

Watched the highlights when I came back from the game last night and we had about 6 or 7 chances to score last night.

We need to start taking these chances.

    D. :)

  12. Pretty basic stuff at CF.

OE is a totally different type of player to MD.

He needs a more fluid game where there is space to exploit.

MD can lead the line, hold the ball up and bring others into the game.

OE currently plays like a GS Mk2.

He still needs to learn the more trad CF game.

  13. Anything from the media to make them look the good guy’s,at least the Huns are scoring goals, you see what annoys me at times with some Celtic Supporters on here, they Are quick to come on here and say Sevco are rotten , terrible to watch, well I have news for them ,you don’t need to look far,to see a team like ours being rotten to,in fact terrible to watch the same system which I’m afraid won’t get us 8 in a row, unless Brendan Rodgers makes big changes, especially dropping a few players,by giving a few of the fringe players a decent run.in the first team, and for god sake.change the way we play, also somebody said last night that Gerrard is a lucky manager, well Rodgers needs to change his way setting out his team,or I’m afraid luck will.desert him,

  14. Benkovic sure doeslook the part.Very impressive.KT,incredible performance. When he goes forward, nearly unstoppable. We should go for the Killie right back in January. Will be watching him closely on Sunday.

Brendan now really has to start wielding the axe.Griff has to start.Mulumbu, get him in,lets see him in action.Jamesy,Calmac,Rogic,Edouarde,at the moment are poor, confidence low.Sinky and Johnston deserve a run.Too many playing on reputation only.

    Big two games coming up.

  15. :)

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 21ST SEPTEMBER 2018 12:18 AM

Not long home from game. Just watched highlights.

Good to get a win but can’t help feeling the team would be much much better if Brendan took a break and I became the manager.

I’d pick the best defence, the best midfield and the best strikers.

We’d score more goals, concede fewer, entertain everyone always and buy brilliant players at knock down prices.

Come to think of it the CEO is past it, so maybe I should do his job too while I am at it.

I’d increase turnover (even though that’s bad), get great lights cheap, machine gun everyone at the SFA, have a cold driveway. ……..

    Zzzzzzzzzzz

    :)

  16. prestonpans bhoys on

Seen to many of this type of game over the course of the year, awful to watch. At a corner, yip another unsuccessful one, the bhoy behind me shouts before its taken “back to the goalie” !!

  17. BP1 off yesterday, bank holiday today so off, same Monday and off Tuesday ?

Hope you are all well ???

  18. PL now owns a Tardis or we had a very busy June.

Huge changes on the balance sheet that don’t make sense unless we did all our business in June.

    Games being played.

Assets / line 3 — £4.4mill turns up but from where?

Assets / line 5 — £9mill increase but little detail.

    Liabilities / line 6 — up £17mill to £27mill?

Are we buying players on tick?

We seem to be very conservative when running the business but very active and dynamic when reporting the business.

    Strange.

  19. Since Boyata has came back into the side.

    Games Played – 5

    Clean Sheets – 5

    ———

    Wow.

  20. In ither news…………………

    Brexit ( apparently)…………………….Seriously.

and, and….who would win a fight between a Late Winner and a Brilliant Goal and Equaliser.

In scoddland, that would be obvious!

  21. Was thinking last night why don’t we just refuse to take corners, what’s the point? We could struggle on Sunday surely we have to mix up our game plan between playing more direct and retaining possession. Its now over a year since we’ve seen the best of Sinky 20 minute cameos is just not good enough and with Calmac And Rogic out of form both of them in the team is a bit of a luxury.

  22. There are a number of issue’s within the team at the moment. One problem that is unlikely to go away any time soon, is that we no longer have a back to goal striker. Edouard looks completely inept at leading the line on his own. Last night and vs St Mirren he has been completely lost.

I don’t want to give the young lad too much criticism however. He is only just turning 20, and has much to learn.

Griff lead the line in a 4-2-3-1 shape under Ronny Deila. Griff is also not a back to goal striker. He plays on the shoulder of being offside… but given our circumstances, Griff is most definitely the better of the 2 options.

Given that Rodgers will seldom play with them both up top.

  23. Prestonpans

Are you in North Stand Lower 102? If so it was me shouted ‘Back to the goalie’, being sarcastic of course. Five seconds later big Craig had it in his hands.

Mind you, overall we could/should have scored 4 or 5 given the clear chances we had. The we segment of highlights available on Newsnow reminded us just how many opportunities, good opportunities, we had. Exciting night!

  24. The other issue that I am witnessing under Rodgers, is his preference towards a 3-4-2-1Last night for example , with Lustig fit and in the team, many could argue it was a back 4. But with Lustig reluctant to go forward (probably on instruction) and Tierney bombing forward at will. Then the back 4 rotated into a back 3.

Against St Mirren there was no rotation, it was simply a back… Boyata Ajer and Benkovick

Just my opinion, but I don’t like this 3-4-2-1…. One, because our only width comes from Tierney and Forrest. Against packed defence’s, we need 2 natural wide men, plus both full-backs over-lapping. Two, because McGregor isn’t a natural wide left man. And ultimately both him and Rogic are playing in the hole behind Edouard. For me, cramping each others style. It has to be one or the other…. and Three, like I said in my previous comment above, in this 4-2-3-1 shape we ultimately need, but don’t have a strong centre forward to lead the line.

Therefore in summary. 3 glaring issues, with the team at the moment.

  25. Second last sentence should read “in this 3-4-2-1 shape we ultimately need, but don’t have a strong centre forward to lead the line”

  26. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

    @ RUGGYGMAN on 21ST SEPTEMBER 2018 10:04 AM

The issue which you note are the result of lack of options (or at least quality options) in the squad.

We could play a simple back four and have our full backs bomb forward (as Tierney does) if we had a RB capable. However, Lustig isn’t and we knew that last year.

Up front, Edouard is not adept at leading the line, but he rarely was played as a number 9 in his first year at the club. Again, lack of true options means that we have to persist with Edouard or Griff, neither of whom can hold up the ball and bring others into play akin to Dembele.
