Celtic vindicated

1145

Yesterday’s decision by the SFA’s Judicial Panel, which ruled that Josh Meekings could not be subject to retrospective action as the referee saw the contentious incident on Sunday contradicted the initial official version of events, and totally vindicated Celtic asking for clarification of the incident.

I’ve not had a chance to read through all the apologies from those who used their platforms to criticise the club, but I’ll set aside an hour to do so later.  Keep an eye on the very personal attacks on Peter Lawwell.  There are people at Hampden who don’t like his influence.

It’s never good to get ahead of yourself, and it would be foolish to assume too much ahead of our visit to Tannadice tomorrow, but I hope the Highlanders take a point against Aberdeen today.  Winning the title would be a great way to start a holiday weekend.

Loving the narrative coming out of Ibox at the moment.  It appears they haven’t even applied for membership of the ISDX yet as they haven’t found an advisor yet.  I assume that’s the fault of the Easdales.  Or the BBC.  Or Celtic.  Or maybe it’s the Pope of Rome!

What a shower.  You know how this story ends….

Tomorrow will not be a day for playing silky football because of the ploughed field that is Tannadice. So here’s a radical suggestion for you, play big Virgil up front as a target man and bring Efe into central defence to replace him. Forrest drops out of the team as the pitch is unlikely to suit him, that and the fact that he’s on borrowed time IMHO.

Waiting to be shot down – fire away.

  2. The past week has sickened me to the stomach. As it evolved its not McLean’s fault, not Meekings, its us who are paranoid. Lawwell outta order as the media indulge in a campaign of anti Celtic whataboutery (ie the 1989 ‘shy’). Sevco will go up. It might take a Hibs red card, a good goal ruled out, a Sevco penalty, an offside goal ; perm those examples and others any way you like, but they will come up.The establishment and compliant media will ensure it happens.

A new concept in football today- the third half. Boaby Tait the ref? The 5 o’clock news beat the final whistle for goodness sake. There are, of course, non Masonic refs in Scotland but probably as common as RC’s in the Strictly No Papes Scottish cabinet.

We will just need to compartmentalize ourselves tomorrow and get a win. Stuff the establishment in this bitter wee country.

  3. BRTH,

    Great piece.

What everyone forgets is if McLean had done his job properly Meekings would have been red carded and missed the final.

Forget Falkirk and let’s make it a Celtic issue.

  4. Sheepies have taken more points off the other 10 teams then we have. If you leave out the 3 head to heads which all went to Celtic, the Sheep have 74 pts, Celtic have 70 with a game in hand tomorrow.

I too noticed your comments at the time. And thought the same.

I think there are so many difficult (for ref and SFA) questions that should continue to be asked to turn the heat on the bassas.

    Respect. As ever.

If the Huns draw 0-0 with Hertz, and Falkirk were to beat Hibs 5-0, then Hibs and Huns would be level on points, goal difference and goals scored !!

Show of hands in SFA office to see who ends up 2nd , or would they ‘convene’ a panel to decide ?????

Well you would expect the head to head scenario to come into play if that happened but we all know that would go out the window.

Has the Sevco match finished yet?

Joking apart, John Gudetti was wrong: the huns aren’t deid.

They are very much alive and kicking.

They will be in the top league next year – McCall is making up his list of signings already, not wasting time with trifles like play-offs.

Big Mike will step in and keep his investment ticking over.

    Cue honest mistakes a go-go.

    I’m sitting here thinking

The John Gudetti – the huns are deid – thing.

    What happened about that?

Has it been swept under the lumpy carpet or is he still to be “judged”?

  15. I was just asking about Scepovic because he’s got a good goalscoring record at Tannadice if honest mistakes were not counted.

    Res12 is many things.

    SFA accountability is its aim.

The fact that the SFA are now being asked to account to Celtic shareholders is itself a step on the way.

If SFA stonewall then UEFA have the power to make the SFA account to them and there is more than enough known to make UEFA ask for an account.

Make the bassas accountable and you change everything.

And that’s not done yet either.

This gets worse. It’s only deliberate when the keeper is off his line.

Err, where was the keeper? On the 6yard line?

Just checked, and according to SPFL rules, if teams (Hibs & Huns) are level on points, goal difference and goals scored, then a one match play off at neutral venue has to be played (presumably on Wed 6th May, as play offs are scheduled for Sat 9th)

  19. Auldheid

You say the LNS stuff is not done yet. Is there more to come on that?

Personally I’m sickened with the outcome of that more than anything else.

This has to be a wind-up. The other officials missed it because they were looking at “other things”.

I suggest you read the latest Blog on the Scottish Football Monitor and work your way back to see how the Commission was misdirected and as a consequence why it’s Decision is flawed.

It wasnt just ebt side letters and documentation that were not provided when asked for or required by the rules.

Henderson gets the ball just outside the penalty box, feigns right, goes left and finds the bottom corner from about 12 yards. Classy.

    This Hendo’s second today

  26. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

It can only be a matter of time before Leigh Griffiths gets banned for trying to hit Meekings in the face with the ball, and the four Celtic players who appealed for a penalty get banned for trying to con the referee.

They probably added that rule about 60 minutes ago when they realised that the huns would be stuffed on the head to heads, even if they included the Petrofac cup win ;-)
