Some of the reaction to Peter Lawwell’s promotion to the top table of the bowling club yesterday was thoroughly entertaining, including some from our own side. As a rule, I’m happy to germinate nonsense which distracts potential opponents from applying logical analysis to their world, so now THE EVIDENCE is all there!!
The SFA badly need higher calibre board members and, despite some generous assessments (from all sides), Celtic’s influence over the Association has been akin to pushing water up a marble staircase. The only genuine solutions to Scottish football’s problems will be to the benefit of all clubs, not just the main income generator. This is the challenge Peter Lawwell should set himself. By delivering well-funded, competitive football for all, he will best look after the interests of Celtic. Big changes all round are required.
I was accustomed today by a suggestion that Celtic were about to announce debts of over £30m after investing in some underperforming bonds! Fortunately the story teller is listening to the wrong people and this is complete fantasy. At least this nonsense keeps people from reading the accounts and asking by our board blow so much cash on amortisation each year instead of buying players.

I see the spin today is that McLelland and Murray weren’t really involved in the death of the old club … it was all that nasty Craig Whyte’s fault ad they never liked him anyway.
I hope that the newest member of the SFA’s Board reminds him that the fit ad proper person test mentions being a director within five years of administration for a reason – a situation like that doesn’t develop overnight. We all know that the financial issues in the old club went back many years, including the time that McLelland and Murray were directors.

Today is my 60th birthday. Gold Coast Tracey has whisked me off for the weekend down the New South Wales coast. We have just had dinner in an Italian restaurant where she presented me with a beautiful limited edition 125th anniversary Celtic watch.
I shall savour this weekend because on Monday I go into hospital to have my prostate removed. The op and the recovery will be tough but I am not going to think about that until I get back to the Gold Coast on Sunday.
Right now I just feel blessed.

One minor correction. It says the sole defeat was against Barcelona. That should read Henrik Larsson’s Barcelona.
Anyone any idea when there will be a general sale for the Barca away game? On their website ,Members only and a PIN. went last year bought tickets for away end and got in no problem. Catalunya square was rocking before the game! Bring it on.
