Really pleased the Scottish Professional Football League have awarded the League Cup Final to Scotland’s largest football stadium, Celtic Park. We are now hosting the League and Scottish Cup finals, as well as the head of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
So with the Commonwealth and Scottish Cup gigs going to Celtic, why didn’t Newco Rangers get the other final at their 50,000 capacity facility?
Back in the days such certification existed, Ibrox was a Uefa five star venue, whereas Celtic Park was four star, but maintaining those standards takes, well, maintenance, which has not been a priority in some parts. Celtic Park remains highly functional, and safe.
There is also the hazard of planning an event, even six weeks out, at a venue owned (cough) by a company which does not have bank credit facilities and who are broadcasting financial distress signals like some kind of insolvency Batman call.
These perfectly valid reasons are, of course, a mere distraction from the real reason, the Co-op Bank, which controls Glasgow City Council, is also able to manipulate league football in Scotland and decided to award the final to their partner organisation, while cutting their borrowing rate, by way of compensation.
Issue 19 of CQN Magazine is fresh off the press, 104 pages of great stuff from the CQN community. 10 men won the league, Dam Justice, the Celtic Foundation, and Brogan Rogan outs the difficult questions to Pat Nevin about his Cup Final comments.

BRTH-I’m in the “don’t give him a chance to justify ” camp, but appreciate your explanation.Judas? That would be a step too far for me,and possibly CQN IMO.HH
Doc is Neil Lennon, 22:25
Indeed, although being on CQN may test that theory to breaking point
WC, in Nevins eyes the if would have made it alright, if that makes him feel better well who am I to question…………………

is it against the law to query whether such statements and sentiments are against the law ?
Pfayr from earlier.i think we need to avoid being like follow follow.
No one answered my question. The article claims that celtic complainsd about that cup final half time chat. I have NEVER seen any evidence of that. Has anyone?
Pat Nevin is a little rat who has a face that you would only stop hitting when your arm fell off :-) HH
Marco out of surgery and off to sleep, although he has been out for most of the day..

Daft question. Will all the seats be allocated at CQTEN ?

Hutchybhoy has arranged our table. He’s even set up his own website for the occasion – pay extra for more leg room, priority boarding, the lot.
Kid’s an entrepreneur all right. It’ll grant him that.

My understanding is that there were questions asked by Celtic of the BBC about why the matter was raised at half time.
I haven’t seen the letter and so cannot comment on its content, but did read somewhere that the tenor of the letter was to ask about why it appeared that Celtic fans were being singled out when the actions of other fans were ignored.
!!Bada Bing!! Agree with you there. Wouldn’t ever want to speak to that guy.

The Qualifications Of An Orangeman
An Orangeman should be a Protestant in reality and truth, not merely by profession or education, and should be distiquished by a sincere love and veneration for his Almighty Creater.
Spelling proficiecy not included in the qualifications.:-)
Was this written by a Tim?
BT, long anaesthetic, not surprising, will be groggy tomorrow too.
Keep us posted.

Watchin it too
Hard to watch and its gettin me angry
Hard to believe this goes on in the world
On the subject of future interviews Doc has asked about Peter Lawwell and we are following that up.
Also we have forthcoming features and interviews with Tommy Gemmell and Davie Hay and I am hopeful that both will become CQNers and come on here for a chat and to answer questions.
Happy for other ideas and suggestions to be put forward.

I will stand by my comments re giving the little runt space in the mag.
will you ever publish a warts and all piece? (Unedited).
Not that i would read it you understand..
OG, being on CQN adds gravitas to your musings:-)
By the way — if anyone has any suggestions as to who we should interview in future editions then please shout and we will do the best we can to arrange that.
One of my favourites would be John Clark who is officially Celtic’s second longest serving employee ever.
He was not only a Lion but he has seen the managerial skills of so many Celtic managers and players that he would be fascinating to chat to……. for weeks.
However, I suspect that we will have to wait till he retires from the club……. and by the way he is one of the nicest individuals I have ever met.
Equally Fergus would be great to do ……. although personally I do have a huge issue with his decision to take us down the PLC route which could still yet spell absolute disaster in my eyes.

Yes — whose warts do you want?
WC, I was going to!!!!!
But if you do, can I come, it was my idea!
Tom Boyd for an interview, I think I can swing that one.
I find Nevin quite irritating these days whenever he commentates on football. However I don’t see any benefit in Celtic fans continuing to hound him for the cup final comments. He was wrong we know that, he does too, let’s all move on there are more important things to get excited about.
Likewise I am uncomfortable with some of the comments I have seen on other media about Aberdeen fans. A small number of idiots at Tynecastle were well out of order but we have nothing to gain from any trouble on Saturday. I don’t expect any trouble but we shouldn’t be complacent.
That said I am sure the police investigation will result in charges _ probably against a Lurgan man for being aggressively ginger in an Edinburgh establishment.
Finally has the bus man been called to account for his threats of violence against poor Craigie yet?
Doc
will do
look for him in my fb page.,same surname obviously. ? 8)
Off this time as amytriptolyne funerals nephew in hospital and cqn has taken its toll.
Looking forward to a few beers Saturday. ?
Did that sound a tad petulant!

Being on liquid medication does the same …
BT, see you Saturday, if not before, back here.
As a relatively older guy who has been hanging around for a while I can appreciate the efforts made by CQN to allow Pat Nevin a platform.
Sorry I am just sick to the heart about what has been allowed in our name – so he was duped by someone unknown – if he had only said that to the national media!
As a veteran I am very concerned that we are being fed sweeties!
There are folk I really admire here who seem to be towing some kind of line – many apologies if I am off the mark
OG, a school night too!
BRTH
the toads obviously. ? 8)
Night …
Broganrogan…
“Oh– and for the avoidance of doubt — If I am ever offered the chance to interview Le Petit Merde I would grab it with both hands as I would want to know his reaction to being regarded as a treacherous little shit”
=========================
Big & serious factual error in your commentary..
He IS a treacherous little shit. No “regarded” about it!
Do not touch him with a barge pole – the most horrible individual in Celtic’s entire history.
Doc is Neil Lennon
Asking on your behalf!

What about an interview with Jack Irvine? Should I insert smiley?
Winning Captains
I believe I have been to 13 of the Top 15 games quoted since Lisbon.
Missed the 4-0 in 69 and the 3-0 at the Hovel in 2001.
Was blessed to be at Love street in 86, as I got back from SA on the Friday, seen us win league on Sat, and 1st child born following Friday,
Could tell a good story about the 77 game :-)
Hail Hail
Pat Nevin and Willie Collum and Eddie Smith … Each of them quite prepared to please their masters.

Interview that is..

I just can’t accept that the Pat Nevin incident was orcastrated by Jack Irvine.
How many of those complaints contained references to peados etc? We don’t know and have no way of ever finding out.
Was Pat Nevin such an influencial opponent of sectarianism for the Jack Irvine to want him silenced? What purpose did it serve?
Your inference actually raises more questions and just doesn’t make any sense on any level.
Could it be that before Nevin gave his evidense to the Justice commitee he was breifed by BBC on the complaints and he exagerated their contents to ellicite sympathy?
Cowiebhoy – Ah someone wants the whisky! Great stuff! You are in poll position? Do we have anyone else who can boost to have been at 13 or more of these 15 matches?
O Thou, that in the heavens does dwell,
As it pleases best Thysel’,
Sends aen to Heaven an’ ten to Hell,
For Thy glory,
And no for onie guid or ill
They’ve done afore Thee!
I bless and praise Thy matchless might,
When thousands Thou hast left in night,
That I am here afore Thy sight,
For gifts an’ grace
A burning and a shining light
To a’ this place…..
