Stephen Pressley’s Falkirk team did well at Hampden yesterday but the manager did himself no credit with his half time rant at the referee, who chopped off a perfectly good Celtic goal but annoyed Pressley for awarding a penalty when Thomas Rogne was hauled to the ground.
An irritated Pressley, who always seems to be the one in the middle of any controversy, then gave an inexplicable post-match interview to the BBC, demonstrating as clear a case of Cognitive Dissonance you are likely to find outside of a textbook. At the time he, apparently, hadn’t seen a TV replay of the penalty incident, made no attempt to claim Darren Dods was innocent of the alleged discretion, nor did he suggest the referee had erred, but he was clearly troubled trying to reconcile these facts with his feeling of being wronged.
To all aspiring Cognitive Dissonance posters in the CQN comments section, new standards have been set. You are a bunch of amateurs with functioning resolution pathways and have no future in the game.

Aiden McGeady also played against at least 2 players when he was winning games single handed …
I thought he was a great player for us and would take him back anytime.. He also left us with £8m to remember him by that patched up financial holes created by Lawwell
————————————————-
Loads of players get doubled up on and it’s barely mentioned. It’s only ever an issue when players (like McGeady) prove incapable of exploiting the consequent gaps.
Like I said, he has his talents, but vision and decision-making and footballing intelligence aren’t among them.
After Naka left, Aiden was the only Celtic player who entertained me for about 3 seasons.
Afternoon all,
This could be the first of many updates but needless to say I will try and keep on top of all the deadline nonsense that we’ve come use to.

Re Pressley-watch the assault by Ganea on John Kennedy, and see his total lack of reaction, to one of the worst “tackles” a team mate would ever receive.Cant stand him.

Wot that man said.
help please
Iain Blair of SPL askin re strips for the final v Killie
says – what d’you think should the strips be ??
green-white-hoops v blue-white-stripes disnae look so good – there is a fair colour clash – too much white !
i prefer to see CFC in g/w hoops every time
but for marketing purposes of the final, as i say, it won’t look the finest, this time
in recent 3-3 game, we played the yellow/black v their normal blue/white strip – it looked ok, but still not the best – alotgether too yellowy yucky
i prefer the Naka black/green away strip v their blue/white, but we don’t have that any more
this season, can we still use the lime green/ blackshorts strip – against their blue/white ?? – its poss the best of a bad lot solution
their away strip is a full yellow top shorts socks – again, not the finest in terms of aesthetics
i wish all teams would have a “last resort” ALL-RED strip – in fact killie had one like that not long ago – would do the job this time round
would be weird to see us in all-red – in fact its prob never happened – would of course only be as a very last resort – can hardly think of an occasion
the over-riding point of it all is that the whole spectacle looks and appears to be as attractive and professional as possible
this includes goalies and referee officials
all jokes about this very welcome
haha :)

Got ur aluko tatt yet?
Len B- I dont think anyone else will come in,though the Molina deal could be back on.Looks like we are adding a bit of much needed height to the squad with Lustik and the Foujit(sp)
Oh and he was traditionally from a non-Celtic supporting background too.
Mmmmmm.
Bada Bing, as for the tackle that finished JK’s career, I remember at the time I saw it and every time since, that it looked a very clumsy and reckless foul, but otherwise a very innocuous thing. No one recognized it as the career ending tackle that it was. Not even JK himself. Are you really tring to say or infer that Steven Pressley was so consumed by other crap, that he had, at best, no interest in a team mate who was fouled. Really? Come on? Purely from a lack of angry response at a foul on someone in his team.
Awe Naw
Why ?
Kilmarnock have signed Celtic youngster Lewis Toshney on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old who can play at centre-back and right-back has joined the Ayrshire side for training today.
Under the terms of the deal he won’t be able to play against his parent club in the League Cup final on March 18.
Ceaser67 – might get one if we win the treble mate. pretty scunnered with the tatts the now though.

i awe right then!! was jist a sazzpurrella and twa straws. blue for you and green 4 me. lol night all siesta time.
The ‘linesman’ who chalked off Hooper’s goal yesterday should be banished to the Highland League for the rest of the season. Hooper was never offside at any stage in the move. He was yards onside when Brown struck his shot ; he was still onside when the ball came back to him off the bar ,and ,in any case ,since the keeper touched the ball on to the bar, Hooper could not have been offside under any circumstances. Such incompetence deserves punishment in the interests of the game.
Ole Declan is definitely one of us.
Way too clever to be one of them.
Footballing matters aside has anyone ever seen a worse run business than Rankers?? Going way back, the mad borrowing, flo, the further mad borrowing, Sir Skinty, the players coming on loan for a morning.. It goes on… Mon the hoops!! Fiscally responsible !
It’s absolute comedy gold at Govan and I just can’t get enough… !!
treble?????????????????????????????????????????????????

I can only back up my claim with details of the passage in Danny McGrain’s book. I’m not sure how you can back up your source.
But if that is how you remember it then fair enough.
*I can back it up by saying I watched the show, mibbees others of my age did too. BTW it was the talk of the steamie as itw as the first time anyone actually mentioned this in the media.

MARK FALCO SCORES RANGERS’ FIRST © THE HERALD
Family and friends had told my dad there was no chance of getting a ticket. It was the 1987 European Cup first round, second leg, Rangers v Dynamo Kiev at Ibrox.
It was a sell-out, as Graeme Souness’ side tried to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Russia. But it was unlikely, with Kiev boasting talent like Baltacha, Kuznetsov, Rats and Mikhailichenko.
As a seven-year-old fan, I was desperate for my dad to get me there. He decided to try his luck and we jumped in the car for the 15-minute trip to the stadium.
The buzz around Ibrox before kick-off that night was incredible. It was midweek, floodlights on, it had the real feel of a proper European Cup tie, but just before we parked up, my dad took a bit of cardboard from his boot and, in felt tip pen, wrote NEED ONE TICKET on it.
We stood on Edmiston Drive, at the corner of the Main Stand and Broomloan Road end, holding up the sign in the vain hope someone might be selling a ticket.
Within minutes, a punter nudged my dad and said ‘I’ve got you one’. Suddenly, the sense of excitement surged through my body as it hit me – we were getting into the match.
This was long before the Champions League, and would you believe the ticket cost my dad a fiver? He squeezed me into the turnstile of the Govan Stand and, amazingly, we were sat right on the halfway line – the perfect view.
I sat in between his legs on the same seat as the atmosphere built. The noise was simply deafening, arguably, the best I’ve experienced at a football match – either as a supporter or as a journalist.
English striker Mark Falco put Rangers one-up after a mistake from Kiev’s ‘keeper and the roof nearly came off the stadium. It got louder and louder, before Ally McCoist headed home a second-half winner to send the fans into a state of delirium.
They held on to put the Russians out and qualify for the next round. Not only was it one of the best nights I’ve experienced at the football, it also proved that there’s always a chance of getting a ticket – if you try hard enough!

Third Lanark?
Mind you, they were being purposefully run (quite ironically) into the ground.
Which is somewhat amusing.

We wore yellow in 2001 League Cup final. A nicer yellow than we have now.
Would our third strip clash with their away kit?

It’s in Polish but the online translators are well worth the effort for this one.
Awe Naw, not possible, I’m afraid. It will also block you for six or more links.
RalphWaldoEllison, agree. Pressley will play more games for Celtic than I ever will.
Does anyone out there think that Kenny Shiels is an a***hole and a hun, some of his comments on TV yesterday
were laughable.
Keep the faith
Don’t tell Craig Whyte, but Tommy Sheridan has just been freed from Huntly.
Ortiz back at Almeira on loan, that was £500,000 well spent… :0)
So if Toshney and Keetings are away, looks like the Russell thing won’t be happening, never thought it would anyways.
