Confederated league gathers pace as Belarus bids to join

905

The momentum for a confederated regional league in Eastern Europe continues to gather pace with clubs from Belarus keen to join.  With a population of around 10m, Belarus is sandwiched between Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states, but their league has been rendered uncompetitive by the domination of Bate Borisov, who are on their way to eight-in-a-row titles.

Bate, who are now Champions League regulars, have no opportunity to progress while the rest of the league do not have the resources to compete with them.  A regional league would solve all their problems.

Russian and Ukrainian clubs are aiming to have a confederated league in place by the start of 2014, with sponsors thought to be keen to step forward and underwrite whatever is necessary to smooth the way, but the Ukrainian FA suggest 2016 is a more viable date.

Scottish football stands to gain more from regionalisation than anywhere else on the planet. We need to have this debate before blindly stumbling into another Management of Decline while legislators in Minsk leave us behind!

Today is the last guaranteed posting date for CQN Annuals before Christmas, so if you haven’t ordered yet, this is your chance.

Many thanks for the tremendous support of the Annual in recent weeks.  We have shipped lots to Australia, Canada and USA, across various European and Asian countries, and to hundreds of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Ireland.  Even Ayrshire!

Last guaranteed date before Christmas. You can order the CQN Annual here!

i wonder if any bookmakers are taking bets on who gets more airtime & cred from the mainstream media when they win their respective league titles – celtic or rangers?

Just as well Sevco have a big game tonight to take their minds off the share offer disaster.

An investment of £20 Million will pay the bills and keep Sevco running till end of season, nothing more.

The highly-intelligent B. Dodds was on Shortbread earlier wondering why they didn’t wait 6 months before they did the issue. Em, let’s think now – why would that be?!!!

  8. Conspiracy theory (lost count of the number):

Any Financial bhoys confirm that the London Stock Exchange closures over the holiday period will affect trading and settlement of small shareholders looking to off-load quickly?

Would this have anything to do with the timing of Chuckie’s issue?

Some illiterate zombie trying to compare Range Rover to sevco as they are owned by indian people now !! Worst thing about it was panel agreeing with him, that was my cue to hit off button.

Bonner on shortbread earlier giving it the ‘old firm’ line again. We’ve been trying to disassociate ourselves from the hun for years and Lawwell got that message loud and clear again at the last agm. It would seem that even to qualify for a token tim job with the Scottish msm, certain outdated terms must be kept so as not to offend.

  13. Miki @ 17.53,

You’ve got that one quite wrong – UKIP have dropped the guy.

Compare that with the US Democrats who keep backing Prez Obama – the guy who rightly deplores the murder of 20 children on one day in Connecticut but supports the killing of 4000 children every day across the country by abortionists (& not even for a “reason” such as Downs Syndrome).

Think Huntelaars a great player, he was scoring for

fun a while back. Dont know much about Holbty.

Thought there was talk of huntelaar going to england,

although every player is supposed to be going to england.

From what i’ve read here cause I don’t listen to that gaffe – In the analogy Range rover is like a player not a company – so RR Owned by Rover Group who were liquidated – the brand now owned by Indian company – RR still has it’s history but Rover Group dead – so the player has his history (including stripped titles) but RFC is dead

i use a similar analogy when explainin to huns why northern ireland is ireland & not brittian – i say; if you take the badge of a ford & place it on a BMW, does that BMW become a ford?

Thats true, although schalke have won two and lost five

in ten games, our form was never close to being that

bad , although you might have thought so at times

    on here.

The tie being in feb makes current form irrelevant in any case.

    Looking forward to the draw.

  25. To think, after all of the roadshows, ppt presentations, media ads and PR guff promising a double-your-money deal and a one-way ticket to the world’s soccer super highway – they remain a busted flush.

  26. Marrakesh Express on

I dont agree with those who think Schalke would be an ‘easier draw’ than the rest. They destroyed Arsenal in London with a similar display to Dortmund’s at Man City, but didnt get anything like the same credit.

My preference would be Malaga for a great away day on the costa del sol but from a purely football viewpoint it would be PSG. Yes they have the big man up front but they can be hot and cold. Paris also ticks the box as a good couple of days holiday for the hoops troops.

Around two weeks ago, December 5 to be exact, the BBC website was predicting that Charlie Green’s new club would raise over £27 million via share placements and a public share issue. This would give the International a capitalisation of £50 million , or in other words greater than Celtic. It appears that the public share issue has not even come close to being realised, and unless Charlie and his cohorts underwrite it, those shares will lose value overnight. He only got one chance and this was it. Another world record!
