CONFIRMED: BARKAS REMAINS, JULLIEN BACK

1

MUCH-CRITICISED Vasilis Barkas remains in goal for Celtic in their crucial Premiership meeting with St Johnstone at Parkhead this afternoon.

The Greek No.1 has been unconvincing since arriving from AEK Athens for £4.5million in the summer and looked at fault for AC Milan’s long-range free-kick strike that halved the Hoops’ two-goal advantage in the San Siro on Thursday night.

Barkas shipped three more goals as Neil Lennon’s men folded to a 4-2 defeat in the meaningless Europa League Group H loss.

The under-pressure Hoops gaffer makes one change with Hatem Abd Elhamed axed to make way for Christopher Jullien who is still working his way back to full fitness following a long-term back injury.

The Israeli international defender drops to the substitutes’ bench where he will be alongside Leigh Griffiths, David Turnbull and Mohamed Elyounoussi among others.

TEAM: Barkas; Jullien, Bitton, Ajer; Frimpong, Brown, Christie, McGregor, Laxalt; Rogic; Edouard. Subs: Bain, Taylor, Griffiths, Klimala, Soro, Turnbull, Ntcham, Elyounoussi and Elhamed.
