BRENDAN RODGERS has given the nod to Paulo Bernardo ahead of David Turnbull to start in the Champions League Group E encounter against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium tonight.

It was a straight battle between the two quality midfield performers to take the place of injured Reo Hatate and the on-loan Benfica star gets the vote of confidence on this occasion.

Turnbull, who starred and scored the first  goal against Ross County at the weekend, drops to the stand-by squad.

TEAM: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; Bernardo, McGregor, O’Riley; Maeda, Kyogo, Palma. Subs: Bain, Ralston, Phillips, Lagerbielke, Welsh, Turnbull, Yang, Holm, Iwata, Forrest, Oh, M Johnston,
