Confusion as SFA appears lax on terms

1036

Is it really possible that Charles Green made a genuine oversight and believed that monies due to Rangers FC (IA) could be paid by a debtor to selective creditors in order to let his Newco gain access to the Scottish Football League?

Back in May, while Rangers FC (IA) were adamant they would continue in business, the SPL agreed to pay money due to the club directly to creditors.  The club subsequently failed to pay, or agree terms with, creditors and a creditor has asked BDO to liquidate them.  The lawyers have earned enough from this saga in recent months, they would be scrambling for Gratuitous Alienation cast studies if the SPL was to selectively pay football clubs.

It looks like Mr Green is tying himself in knots over the Newco/Oldco routine.  His attention to detail has the potential to become legendary, however, he is entitled to wonder why the SFA have allowed his Newco membership despite apparently not meeting agreed terms. I am sure the SFA president will be all over this issue like a rash, demanding clear and proper process is followed.

Or is the SFA president still the only man at Hampden who cannot participate in any of the important issues concerning Scottish football?

SSB …. They don’t know about the booing of Celtic players over the years ……. Nothing changes

  5. All the best to you Mark ma bhoy

City have completed the signing of former Celtic and Dundee United defender Mark Wilson until January 13th.

The 28-year-old has spent much of pre-season training with City, playing a number of the club’s friendly matches.

He has now undergone a medical and penned a five-month contract with the club.

Manager Derek McInnes told bcfc.co.uk: “I always said Mark had nothing to prove to me in terms of his ability because everyone is aware of what an impressive player he is.

“Mark can play in two or three positions, which is a key attribute, and he has proved his fitness with us throughout pre-season.

“We’re delighted to have him on board now to strengthen our defensive options.”

A right-back by trade, Wilson has also operated in central defence before.

The Glaswegian began his career at Dundee United and amassed 136 appearances for the Tannadice club in the space of six years.

He also represented Scotland at Under-21 level on 19 occasions.

Celtic moved for Wilson in 2006, stumping up £500,000 for his services.

Despite a number of frustrating injuries, Wilson still made more than 100 appearances for the Scottish giants, and in 2011 was capped for Scotland.

He has four SPL titles, two Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cup honours to his name.

The deal is subject to international clearance, with Wilson taking squad number three.

As people are talking about the Ian Black situation I think it’s fairly obvious why the support are so annoyed. I would guess that the Hearts support are more annoyed than others.

He played for ICT 132 time, between 2004 and 2009

He played for Hearts 88 times, between 2009 and 2012

He never played for the Scotland team, however he did make two appearances for Scotland B.

He then moved to Rangers and has played against Brechin and Peterhead, in the Ramsden’s Cup (I think) and the SFL 3. The latter game was a scrappy draw in which Rangers scored the equalizer very late on.

The question people are forced to ask themselves is what has happened. If he was not good enough to play for Scotland when he was at Hearts, a team which has won the Scottish Cup twice in recent years, then why has he suddenly become good enough. Just how much has moving to the fourth tier of Scottish football improved his game. Does playing against part timers, who train twice a week (for a total of three hours) really prepare him for International football.

It is quite frankly a disgrace. There are young players who would have benefited from that experience and didn’t get it. That was not for the good of Scottish football, if anything it was to appease Rangers and the Rangers’ fans.

I WOULD ONLY CHANGE THE WORDS ” R******S “TO NEWCO and “IF ANYTHING” TO THAT CERTAINLY

  8. Celtic striker Daryl Murphy has been ruled out for up to a month with a hamstring injury while Dylan McGeouch faces five weeks out after suffering a broken jaw against Real Madrid.

The Irishman, who spent last season on loan at Ipswich, limped off in the first half of Celtic’s 2-0 friendly defeat by Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Manager Neil Lennon told Celtic TV: ‘It is a grade one hamstring and it looks like it’s going to be three or four weeks.’

Murphy’s injury was overshadowed by a later and more concerning blow to 19-year-old McGeouch, who broke his jaw and was knocked unconscious in an aerial challenge with Nuri Sahin.

Lennon said: ‘He has had a plate inserted so it should be four or five weeks.’

The Celtic manager, whose team face Ross County in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at Dingwall on Saturday, admitted he was deeply concerned as McGeouch lay motionless on the pitch in Philadelphia.

‘That’s one of your players there and your first instinct is almost like a fatherly one,’ Lennon said.

‘You just hope he is going to be okay.

‘Eventually I went on the pitch to make sure he was coming round.

‘I knew he was in the best possible hands but from my point of view I just wanted to make sure he was okay.

‘He had a fantastic game and he just didn’t deserve that.

‘Thankfully he was able to come home with us and get the best treatment.’

Lennon also had injury concerns over Scott Brown (hip), James Forrest (groin), Anthony Stokes (ankle), Gary Hooper (hamstring) and Paddy McCourt (groin) but they could all be available for the Dingwall clash

  18. Have corpse club made any attempt to pay Chelsea and Arsenal the almost half a million Oldco owed them?

Despite the ‘fog of war’ that the MSM are attempting to bring upon the situation clear skys will emerge, and not always from the direction one expects.

How funny it would be if Newco were pursued by Chelsea. Then they could for once genuinely blame the londoners for dragging their name through the mud. The blues brothers relationship may be about to be tested in the extreme.

  19. jock tamson 18:52:

I too wish Mark Wilson well at Bristol. A decent guy and performed well over the five years he was with us. His highlight has got to be the goal against deadco in the Cup replay.

It was time for him to leave unfortunately as he was plagued by injury. He was never the same Player after the injury he picked up in the UCL match at Old Trafford. By offering him a year, I would suggest would be a sympathy vote added to that, we need to offload some Players from the wage bill.

I would suggest that Bristol have doubts on his ability to last a season as they have only given him a five month deal.

Good luck to you Mark, a Celtic man through and through and a hunskelper to boot.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  20. I hope Wilson does well. An honest and able servant for us. His sclaffed goal against them uns in the cup will live long in his and our memories – the only goal of the only glasgow derby I ever sat back from the start and knew we would win. He always raised the game against our erstwhile rivals.

Good luck Mark. Nice part of the world down there too.

Disagree with you mate. However, I would utilise the squad and perhaps not play our expected starting eleven. We have only played three competitive games and need to get our sharpness right as soon as possible. More competitive games for those Players we expect to do the business in the big games this season is paramount.

The Helsingborgs tie is the biggest we will play this season bar none. Our budget for Players and the calibre of Players we can buy and attract will be determined by whether we play in the Europa League or the UCL.

    Keep the Faith!
