Confusion as SFA appears lax on terms

1036

Is it really possible that Charles Green made a genuine oversight and believed that monies due to Rangers FC (IA) could be paid by a debtor to selective creditors in order to let his Newco gain access to the Scottish Football League?

Back in May, while Rangers FC (IA) were adamant they would continue in business, the SPL agreed to pay money due to the club directly to creditors.  The club subsequently failed to pay, or agree terms with, creditors and a creditor has asked BDO to liquidate them.  The lawyers have earned enough from this saga in recent months, they would be scrambling for Gratuitous Alienation cast studies if the SPL was to selectively pay football clubs.

It looks like Mr Green is tying himself in knots over the Newco/Oldco routine.  His attention to detail has the potential to become legendary, however, he is entitled to wonder why the SFA have allowed his Newco membership despite apparently not meeting agreed terms. I am sure the SFA president will be all over this issue like a rash, demanding clear and proper process is followed.

Or is the SFA president still the only man at Hampden who cannot participate in any of the important issues concerning Scottish football?

Talking of Feyenoord, do you remember that wee dumpy guy with curly hair who played in midfield for them?

Whatever happened to him, I wonder?!

    Only joking of course!

God bless Wim – the man who stopped 10 in a row, and brought us Henrik!

    Re Charlie Adam.

    The blog’s incredulity is noted.

Howevah, as someone once said, my source is a gentleman in every sense of the word and with 24 carat Celtic credentials. His family connections go way back ( and no, he’s not from one of the dynasties). Making the link more clear would be to give his secret identity away, which he wasn’t keen on. He was very tickled by the idea of Kid Ugly coming though, I have to say.

Didn’t the American Revolution 1776 preceed the French Revolution 1789?

You’re totally correct. You can tell by the hurt in his voice when tries to ditch the Sevco label that he is, was and always will be a bitter hun.

  6. If SEVCO keep paying “Football Debts” of the club formerly known as Cheats FC, then wee Hector is gonna have a field day and pursue them for every bean that they owe HMRC.

They are playing a dodgy game and are going to make themselves liable for all Cheats FC debts, other creditors will no doubt have got their lawyers on the case.

Lets see Pinocchio Green talk his way out of that one in court.

Can’t wait for the next embarrassing instalment when SEVCO go pop as well.

Cheers. Will probably bring the old guy with us … (his ashes might be in a plastic bag), but he’d be mad as hell if we went to the game, and he couldn’t come along! :)

Hopefully, will be able to meet up with some of the CQN’ers for a drink on the day …. the ones I’ve met over here are class, and would be nice to put a few more faces to the names.

  10. Mike in Toronto. The easiest and fastest method is to buy online from the club website and choose to print the tickets yourself. You have to set up an account with the ticket office to buy online, but that’s quick and easy too.

This is possibly the funniest bhun comment I have ever heard…..

“SFA / SPL still trying to make rangers out to be the bad guys” ..!!!!! ….. (further comment would be pointless…..)

  12. For the first time ever, certainly in the last hundred years, Celtic can approach league games without the fear of every point dropped being potentially fatal.

All due, of course, to the absence of Them.

Previously, especially in the last five years of Honest Mistakes and SFA skullduggery, they have gained points that, in a fair league, would have been lost.

This means that apart from pride, Saturday’s game is of lesser importance than the Helsinborgs’ one.

Neil Lennon should select his team accordingly, much like the top clubs in Europe do when faced with an upcoming Euro tie.

On a fair day, we should be able to collect max points, no matter which team we put out, but, pragmatic choices should be the order of the day.

    Sorry for the interruption.

As others have said, buying your tickets online and printing them off yourself is the best way to do it.

On the official site, it allows you to view all the seats in the stadium that are available so you can pick and chose where you want to sit.

Off on a bit of a tangent here, but are you a Bills fan?

Up until the other day, there were none on here, but we now seem to have a supporters club running for them!

To all those who played last year, its a simple 5 minute job to re-register and set up your team, most of you will have probably forgotten your passwords so just type in your email and a recovery password will be sent to you.

New players just register normally, will take no longer than ten minutes.

This year I’ve gone for the classic league, literally most points wins over the course of the season compared to last years head to head system, where you played different people every week and three points for win, one for draw etc.

To join the league the code is :- 721106-181775

You are quite right, it’s just I had an argument recently where I was adamant that the American Revolution inspired the French. The key dates of course only mark particular events which the historians can mark start and stop times by, of course these things didn’t just happen instantaniously.

I remember the Ajax 0-3 game so well. It was still 0-0 with half an hour to go and they got a third on the 90th minute! Sod it. We scored reasonably early at Hampden, but, to be fair, Ajax were excellent and gave us a few frights.

My sentiments exactly concerning Neil’s choices on who to pick for an SPL match before an important European one.

Over the last few weeks on here several wars have been discussed, but not the Risorgimento (or the Italian Wars of national liberation)! This is one of my specialist subjects, and I would be delighted if any CQNers would be prepared to join me in a discussion of these momentous events which came to an end less than 20 years before Celtic were founded!

  27. Gary Leech’s ‘Capitalism A structural Genocide’ is an excellent book. Very very thought provoking work with the potential to change your outlook – even if you are already on the left. The Enigma of Capital and the Crises of Capitalism is also well worth a read. Both books have extensive notes and appendices with other great sources. Neither say very much about the Sevco crisis but you will be struck how the story of rangers demise and the subsequent murky goings on are echoed all across the corporate world and among their agents in the media.

The dominant narrative is the first spell we must break, it’s also known as the Hegemonic Discourse. It’s interesting that in the world of Scottish football the hegemonic discourse is being succesfully challenged by the New Media. The ‘Left’ could actually take lessons from what has happened by way of challenging the dominant narrative of the economic world.

In the football world we now see clearly the ‘propagandist’ nature of much of the ‘reportage’ that goes on in the main stream. We are tuned in to the minute details which help to build a shared version, that is the preferred version of the establishment, everything from the pictures of various characters associated with stories (the snarling Neil Lennon, the smiling cheeky chappy) and can pick up on the small changes when once favoured characters fall from grace (Craig Whyte). The unchallenging nature of reporting of ‘The’ Rangers simply as ‘Rangers’ in order to form the impression that it is the same club. And so on and so on.

If you understand this then you will understand the much more serious ‘hegemonic discourse’ that is sold to us in almost every waking moment of our existence in the economic and political world. How is it for example that we have come to accept that we are not entitled to any great input in to how our working life is governed, that organised workers are ‘bad’ for the economy while business knows best even in the face of the evidence that suggests quite the opposite? Where they can’t quite convice people they muddy the waters. The rangers payment thing is a case in point – they are shuffling the pack to confuse people – who owes what, who got what, why the SPL and not the SFA? Read Greens statement. It’s gobbledegook! Most people couldn’t be bothered to understand, but the water is muddy, so it’s easier to accept what you are told and get on with it. When the FTT results come out it will be the same – statements have already been made in anticipation – the dance has begun and confusion will try to reign.

The hegemonic Discourse folks – we’ve rumbled it in football, use what you’ve learned and take a look at the world around you.
