Copenhagen defended their way to the knockout round

173

Celtic travel to Copenhagen on 20 February for their next Europa League tie, with the return game in Glasgow a week later.  Copenhagen are behind Midtjylland in the Danish league and finished second in their Europa group, behind fellow-Scandinavians, Malmo.

They drew 1-1 home and away with Dynamo Kiev, who were eliminated, so although this is a welcome draw, we have two hard games ahead.

Bizarrely, Copenhagen never scored or conceded more than one goal in any of their six group games.  Three 1-1 draws, two 1-0 wins against Lugano, currently sixth in the Swiss table, and a 0-1 home defeat to Malmo saw them defend their way to the knockout stage.

Considering some of the names in the unseeded pot, we have to be happy with the draw.

Didn’t know they had that fixture date. So someone in their wisdom thought that having that mob up in Edinburgh on the busiest Friday of the year was a good idea😵😵

I would be quite happy to see Sevco get knocked out at this stage. The coefficient has already had a shot in the arm. Sevco, like us, will earn (depending on results) £3-4m from this round, between prize money, tv money, gate money and bonus payments (draws/wins); that’s enough for my liking as I fancy them to put the money on the park (even recklessly so) more than us.

  3. As much as i love Frimpong, I would prefer El Hamed to play against the Huns at the end of the month

Anyone know how close he is to a return?

  4. Good evening CQN

Seeded Celtic get 2nd placed Danish team Copenhagen and Unseeded Sevco get 9th placed Portugese side Braga.

We have a good chance as the draw could have been worse but ffs Braga must be realy really shite as the Porto team Sevco played are 2nd and they were shite.

Anyway bring on Herts with the wee Hun rat McLean up front and let’s pummel them.

Braga had 3 away wins in their EL section, including at Wolves.

Wolf in sheeps if you ask me.

  6. Philbhoy hope so. Strange how they are 9th in their respective league but hey ho.

Amazing how flight prices jumped up today for flights to Denmark, feckin joke. Rip off Britain.

  7. Copenhagen 2 goals 81mins & 82mins 2-1 …. ach we’ll worry about them mid February … let’s hump the hertz under the tynecastle floodlights in 48hrs time

  8. I am pleased Nir Bitton has signed a new contract. I really like his style and think he is a quality player. I can understand that other supporters are less keen but I feel that, were he with another Scottish side, we would be clamouring for his signature,.

  9. I’ve had severe problems with my main PC with a Windows 10 update last Thursday.

It’s ground to a complete halt – any command takes 10 minutes to execute.

I’ve Googled things but as usual, there’s about 20 different solutions with no way of knowing if they would work.

Anybody else have the same trouble ?

  10. Cagliari 1 Lazio 0 showing on Freesport ( Channel 64 on my telly).

Lazio, who impressed me at Celtic Park, not looking very good at all. I will be very surprised of they get anything from this game.

    Cheerio for now.

  11. Watch what you’re all saying now 🤔We have a one of those sados who just canny help himself 🐍

Did he no get the jab??

I’m sure he’s entitled at his age.

Plus, the sooner he’s back at the fitba’ with you, the sooner he keeps you out of trouble!

    Hope he’s feeling better soon!

  15. F.B.

Sorry to hear that about your Dad, hopefully he will pick up soon.

It’s a small world, after your Tommy Coyne picture and my comments, Dallas, who posts on here, worked out that I must know someone who has been in Melbourne for 20 years and who he still keeps in touch with.

He’s a clever cookie is Dallas.

  16. PHILBHOY-he won’t get the jab.Me,trouble 🤔Wrong guy mate😉

Thanks for the good wishes 👍

  17. JNP-he’s already told me we are going Saturday,so he’s on the mend.

Hopefully you get to speak to the guy in Melbourne 👍

  18. Paul The Tim saying we have had a 3 million bid knocked back for Fabricio Bruno from Cruzeiro, he’s a centre half.

  19. My son’s pals booked flights to Copenhagen earlier today with Ryanair. £75 return – lovely jubbly as Del Bhoy would have said.

They’ve now been contacted to say sorry we made a mistake. It’s £701 – still want them?

    Flights now cancelled.

I’m sure Boris (and Rod?) Would approve of such business practices!

  20. I would like to see Ajer get a run in midfield, his natural position.

He’s got pace, skill, physicality and can score from that position (see previous club stats), plus he’s better in the air than Broony too.

    Makes sense tae me.

  21. 31003.

My thoughts were it would be to replace Jozo.

    It’s injured so often.

    Billy Bhoy.

    That’s outrageous.

  23. Tim Malone Will Tell on

    PETETHEBEAT

Its worth downloading a free piece of software called CCLEANER and executing the ‘easyclean’ and ‘registry’ options.

‘Easyclean’ analyses and allows you to remove a load of cookies and ‘spyware’.

‘Registry’ analyses broken reference pointers in you PC and allows you to remove the broken registry references (these can cause significant problems).

I came across this a few months ago when I was having similar problems to those you describe – it has been transformational. I tend to run it once every few days.

  24. Copenhagen, happy with that, challenging without being impossible. Park it now ‘til February.

Rod v Green Brigade, are we a Club open to all, or just those like us?

Frimpong, the wee ghu6 just makes me smile, that enthusiasm is infectious, it’ll get bums on seats.

    Hearts midweek……..

    Build a bonfire…………………

  25. Ok thanks Tim.

    I might well do that.

I may end up taking it to a mate who hopefully will charge £20 or so to fix it and save me a shedload of time and angst.

  26. PS, no, I’m not a Tory and Rods politics, on the face of it, Aren’t mine, but we are either a tolerant club, or we are not, I’m for tolerance, then educate the daft git.
