Cough up for Killie

944

The SFA, SPL and SFL confirmed revelations yesterday that they met at Hampden on Friday evening and released a 126 word joint statement.  It claimed “all three parties have been involved in productive discussions for some time on the subject of league reconstruction”.

Be that as it may, you could put your house on the fact that there would be no talk of hastily-arranged league reconstruction in the next few weeks if there remained a possibility that SPL clubs would vote a Newco into the league at their meeting on 4 July.

Disingenuous: lacking in frankness, candour or sincerity.

There is no mention of subverting every rule in the game to ensure a team called ‘Rangers’ are positioned in as high a league system as possible.  The statement is completely disingenuous.  Having lost the battle to parachute Newco-Rangers into the SPL, Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster have redrawn the battle lines.

Celtic supporters are the great cash cow that is expected to pay for the crimes of others.  It’s up to you if you want to Cough up for Killie (etc.).

If Rangers started a rugby team would you follow it?

As above. Many clubs around the world play more than one sport so why can’t we? Football in Scotland is dying so why not branch out into a sport that’s growing in Europe?

    Good morning chaps.

I see there’ll be nae Naisy at Ibrox next season, and the other senior players of Rangers FC (In Administration) appear unlikely to consent to be TUPE’d to the newclub run by Charles Green and the Mysterons.

So I’m fairly relaxed of forehead about Regan and Doncaster doing their Pinky and the Brain impersonation.

There soon won’t be anything left of Rangers to crowbar into the Scottish leagues, at any level. (thumbsup)

  3. They must be dreading the postman over at the Hate Factory delivering more bad news daily. DEADCLUB media were reporting that more players would tell CG to stuff his new contracts today. MAKE IT SO :))

I had a revelation – almost a visitation – last night when the mystery of the Sevco 5088 name becam clear in a dream.

Charles Green is actually a Futurama style charcater – and 5088 is the year that Newco Rangers actually win the Solar System Cup after 3000 years of trying (they actually managed their reformation in 2088). The Cup Final win was controversial with a last minute penalty given by the Martian referee – even although all 3 of his heads appeared to be looking in a different direction.

Meanwhile, in the more senior Inter Galactic Champions League – Glasgow Celtic pumped Alpha Centauri Chelsea 5-0 to record their 400th title in a row celebrating their 3,200 year anniversary. All Celtic players were born in Glasgow…

    History beckons you No. 12

    ——————————————————————————–

    No. 12 Shirt

She had been battered, raped and pillaged for several months. Every fresh blow seemed to bring her closer to that final crushing blow. Like a wounded animal she tried to stand on her feet, to regain her dignity and honour, but the attacks were relentless and to the shame of all, none would come to her aid.

And finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the end was near. The Haters, Vultures and Ghouls made their way towards Ibrox for the telling knockout blow. In the interests of “sporting integrity” a boxing referee was enlisted to deliver the final count.

At the doors of Ibrox they were met by two sentinels who barred their way. Alistair McCoist and Lee McCulloch. It was pointless asking them to move. Neither would walk away.

“Start the count” demanded one of the haters. And so it began.

But not as as they had expected.

    10….9….8

“Wait, wait your counting wrong” screamed the haters.

    7…6….5

The two sentinels were no longer alone. For on either side of them filing quietly into line were unknown faces wearing Rangers shirts with No. 12 on the back. They didn’t need names on the back, it was the badge on the front which was important to them. There were young and old, sprightly and infirm, the capable carried the less capable lest they stumbled.

As the count continued the numbers, grew, and grew, and grew, until thousands joined the two sentinels barring the way to Ibrox.

The silence was broken momentarily when a whisper filled the air, some say to this day it came from within the walls of Ibrox itself……. “We’ve got the battle fever on”

“Who are these people?” asked one of the haters.

Ally McCoist stepped forward……. “Allow me to introduce you to my No. 12’s……they don’t do walking away either”

    And so it began.

In years to come Rangers historians will recite stories of Baxter, Woodburn, Cooper, Laudrup, McCoist, Gough and of course of No. 12.

In the coming months news outlets will feature stories about the No. 12’s – the fans who would not let their club die.

Their loyalty, faith and passion in a football club will capture the imagination of nations.

They will become the benchmark which other supporters aspire to.

Whatever is thrown at them or their club No.12’s will come back for more, time and time again until eventually our detractors can thrown no more.

Wherever their club goes the No. 12’s will be there. And every other Saturday Ibrox will be filled with No. 12’s.

Our children’s children will proudly tell their friends at school that their grandfather was a No. 12.

No. 12’s will be the topic of conversation every Monday morning, in factories, offices, wherever people assemble.

Newspaper columns will mention the No.12’s in the same breath as resilience and a never say die spirit.

Who am I and how do I know all this ?

Im a No. 12 and Im about to take my place in history.

  9. So today we can look forward to press conference from McGregor & Davis and a wee announcement from the good ol US of A.

  19. Hibs are prepared to take a £250,000 “hit” to oppose a newco Rangers playing in the SPL, the Evening News can reveal today.

The Easter Road club plunged almost £1 million into the red in the last financial year and are expected to report large losses again when their latest set of accounts is posted in a few months’ time.

But even so, the club’s directors have decided the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance and are ready to suffer, like others, the “collateral financial damage” anticipated should, as expected, top-flight clubs vote against the transfer of the Rangers share in the SPL to a newco.

    June 25, 2012

    Morning all!

In the latest of an occasional series here at the Marble Halls looking at how our loanees fared on their travels last season we’re focussing this morning on Kyle Bartley who spent his second loan spell at Rangers last season.

Much talked about thanks to promising early performances at youth and reserve level, Kyle is now 21 and there have been whispers that should we succeed in selling Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci this summer he could be the man to come into the squad as a fourth or fifth choice centre back. So I was interested to hear how Kyle got on last season and find out from someone who has seen him play regularly what his chances might be.

I spoke to James Donaldson – News Editor for RangersMedia, Deputy Editor for Seventy2 Magazine, and regular on the We Are The People Podcast to find out more:

Overall, how do you feel Kyle has done for Rangers this season?

KB has performed ok, but ‘ok’ might be harsh, as he was regularly played out of position (at RB or even as an anchorman).

What are his strengths as a player? Any particular highlights?

His strengths are his passion, leadership, determination, and physical attributes. As a highlight, any tackle where he smashed through a tim (celtic player). He’s a real team player.

    How about his weaknesses?

He quite regularly gets caught ball watching, and positioning can be very poor. High balls are very often misjudged, and land behind him. To be fair, his weaknesses at CB were more apparent when playing next to Dorin Goian, they are similar defenders. When next to Carlos Bocanegra, he coped a lot better. Although you could credit that more to the superb ability and calming nature of Captain America.

Obviously he’s only young but how’s his temperament? Did he cope well with the liveliness of the SPL?

He certainly can handle himself, a few square ups here and there, but he never lost his temper. Always prepared to stand his ground, when a wee shite like Scott Brown is acting the hard man. Always in the thick of it when a team mate is in a scuffle, which is a quality I like.

It was Kyle’s second spell on loan at Rangers. Was there much sign of progression in that time?

I have to be honest, there wasn’t. When he first signed we were drooling over his raw style, hard hitting tackles and fearless attitude. As the second season wore on, that novelty wore off and his weaknesses were more apparent.

Would you welcome him back to the club again?

Despite those weaknesses I mentioned, I would love Kyle to become a permanent Rangers player. He loves our club and will always be a Ranger at heart now as he regularly tweets. His relationship with us was excellent, and that can really help you through your time playing for Rangers, when you can be adored or despised within seconds.

Can you see him making it at Arsenal?

Unfortunately, I can’t. Arsenal have a unique style, where every player needs to play football. KB’s footballing attributes aren’t good enough for Arsenal, or even the EPL at the moment. He needs some more loan time, I would say in the Championship, as the standard of football would be higher and maybe he could improve enough, to play in lower half of EPL

Folly Folly – Would it be too risky to suggest that the old team bath be filled, knee-deep with ‘Fenian blood’ so that (for a small consideration) visitors could savour the experience of being up their knees in it … ?

I don’t think that would be too risky, it does have a sort of Evil Alternate Dimension version of Lourdes about it that I find intriguing. Obviously health and safety considerations mean you couldn’t use real blood, and you’d also have to be careful not to use a substitute that might offend customers, such as soap.

Also, will there be gunge tanks? This would tie in with my idea of using Ibrox to reboot a 1980’s childrens game show hosted by Pat Sharp, called “Hun House”. (thumbsup)

Good morning fellow Celts from sunny West London

Day off today and heading into town for a wander..don’t do walking :-0

The ipox mailbox should be intersting today …formal notice by more players they will not be transferring.

However, I suspect that many will simply not appear at the pre-season training muster (Thursday?) at Murray Park (do they still call it that??…I won’t :). The act of turning up for training may well be seen as acceptance of transfer under TUPE. Unless they have been given a fixed date when TUPE will take effect then they may appear tho’ that could be risky for players for a number of reasons….not least the orc hordes getting hopes up only to be dashed later …they don’t much like it upem that mob.

I doubt any court would rule against players who sign new personal terms with another clubs, or none at all -waiting for offers of employment elsewhere.

For those that don’t want to send a letter declaring intentions, the first indication they are offski will be non-appearance at Slurry Park -I wonder if Phil has his trusty photographer primed and dareIsay …ready?

    HH

  25. Can someone explain how Green honestly thinks he would win a legal arguement over this.

UK employment law permits employees who are subject to TUPE, where a contract of service is transferred between two different companies, to terminate their deals without breaching the terms they agreed to.

Steven Whittaker, Steven Naismith, Sone Aluko and Rhys McCabe all exercised their right over the weekend, with Green having moved to inherit their contracts when he purchased the assets of the former Rangers Football Club on June 14.

The businessman insists TUPE regulations mean the players have since lost their right to refuse to work for his new company because the transfer has taken place, something which is disputed by the players’ union.

Regulation nine of TUPE states an employer “shall not operate to transfer the contract of employment and the rights, powers, duties and liabilities under or in connection with it of an employee who informs the transferor or the transferee that he objects to becoming employed by the transferee”.
