CQN Golf Open knocks it out the park again

1384

We had our 11th annual CQN Charity Golf Open at Aberdour in Fife yesterday and it was another brilliant occasion.  £2000 was raised for good causes, including a local Aberdour need, Tommy Burns’ Charity and the Celtic Foundation.

My thanks to the Joe Miller, who regaled us with tales of Maradona, Jinky and Sugar Roy Aitken.  The buzz he got from playing for Celtic is clear.  The day wouldn’t be possible without Taggsybhoy and BlantyreKev, but it takes an entire crowd to make special nights like this, so thanks to each of you.

This afternoon’s game against Rennes is an important step towards getting the players fully fit but the 90 minutes have to be balanced against the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.  I expect Ronny will ask the players the burn the flame brightly for a short period, before making lots of changes.

  1. What is the point of James Forrest?

    Anybody?

The biggest passenger I’ve watched in the hoops for many a day.

  2. fan-a-tic

I wouldn’t want Biton or anyone else going into tackles full tilt.

    Try telling Brown that though.

Just as Biton and Forrest go down injured

  3. Not quite sure what to make of this game. Will RD learn anything? Game seems to being played at a slow pace and apart from 1 dodgy tackle it is basically being played as non contact. 2 well taken goals by Celtic but Renne not showing too much up front.

  4. I was hoping that Renne would give our defence a tough time. Just to see how the new defensive pairing handle a bit of pressure from a decent attacking side.

They make some good runs with pace so centre backs have to be on toes.

A little worrying when we have a high line at times

  6. Fasan in goal

    O’Connel

    Rogic

    McGregor

    SCepovic

    Jainko

    Thomson

    Stokes

Magic mate , sitting watching Celtic . Few pints before game and I might force myself to have a few after , just to be polite .

Just watched the final episode of ‘The Saboteurs’.

The finely nuanced drama has set the bar pretty high for Norwegian heroics.

cant complain about the score… and LG’s goal was a top notch striker’s goal ….I would take 2-0 on Wednesday, but noticed certain things ..

Both Efe and CM were pulling into the middle, which is sort of understandable as neither are true fullbacks, but it was leaving acres of space on the flanks for Rennes to attack into (particularly down Rennes right hand side)… a better team will punish that … still think we need a new starting left back .

more sideways and backwards passing this season already than all of last season (maybe not quite, but you get my point) slowing down our attack …. if we dont pick up the pace, there is little point in having JF on the park.

we need a striker coach ….someone who can teach our guys when and how to mkae the killer runs/ and how to make the pass …. I was unhappy with Sutton for a while there…. but, he seems to have come around, and I think he could do the job for us…. certainly cant hurt to try

would like to see goals for Ciftci, Stokes and Scepcovic in the second half (not too much to ask, is it?)

more movement from the forwards already in this half … so that is promising.

and izzy and stokes, once again, linking up well on the left….

  10. Fasan charges out to punch a dangerous cross away.

I don’t blame the forward for opting out

As Tommy Boyd has just said, all a striker needs to do is watch the Video of Henke; composure personified in front of goal.

  12. fanatic/GG I’ve got a dodgy stream but I don'[t think that Fasan is the keeper. Looks like Bailey to me.

  13. Second string showing well. Same system. A bit less pace and movement but individuals showing well. Rogic and o conell look composed.
