CQN Golf Open knocks it out the park again

1384

We had our 11th annual CQN Charity Golf Open at Aberdour in Fife yesterday and it was another brilliant occasion.  £2000 was raised for good causes, including a local Aberdour need, Tommy Burns’ Charity and the Celtic Foundation.

My thanks to the Joe Miller, who regaled us with tales of Maradona, Jinky and Sugar Roy Aitken.  The buzz he got from playing for Celtic is clear.  The day wouldn’t be possible without Taggsybhoy and BlantyreKev, but it takes an entire crowd to make special nights like this, so thanks to each of you.

This afternoon’s game against Rennes is an important step towards getting the players fully fit but the 90 minutes have to be balanced against the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.  I expect Ronny will ask the players the burn the flame brightly for a short period, before making lots of changes.

oglach … I’ve watched a few of HL’s video’s hundreds of times, so if it was that simple, I’d be out there today banging them in! So, I suspect there has to be a bit more to it than that …. as has been suggested, maybe we should be looking at his boy!

  2. Rennes player down after he challenged Cifti.

Little or no contact. Foul not given.

If anyone is concerned for the Rennes player, he seems to have miraculously recovered.

haven’t seen alot of Janko yet, but what I have seen suggests that we have got a good one there … fast, strong, and seems to be able to get to the byline and hit a good cross…hopefully, he defends as well as he goes forward ….. if so, we have won a gold watch with him

  4. Young Thomson learning pace and precision of senior game different.

Lovely play Jainko beats two men

  5. Watching Cifti, he has got a helluva lot to work on.

Has decent raw credentials…. Strength, touch etc…. But possession is king, and all the wee flicks need to be knocked out of him, or he’ll become another Stokes.

Of these fringe players, I look forward to Jancko and Rogic making a push to the first team.

  6. I kno the answer I think before I even ask this…. But is Boerrigter injured?

Or just so far down the pecking order, he packing bags in the Celtic store.?

Think your right about Janko and Rogic both look ready.

I have a good feeling about Ciftci.

Needs to lose weight and sharpen up.

Good second half showing by subs

ruggy … funny how two people see the same game, and see the exact opposite…. I agree that Ciftci is a bit rusty, but I think he is exactly the sort of player for RD’s team … those little flicks are higher risk than the usual sideways/backways pass, but, when they do come off, they are exactly what we need to break down packed defences like we saw on Wednesday … for me, the problems is not enought of our forwards make the runs onto those balls….they need to do that. if they do, Ciftci will be a star for us.

good save by fasan there … he looked nervous the last few times out, so hopefully a good save like that will do his confidence the world of good.

    I agree.

Our movement off the ball has to improve.

Ciftci has skill so weight loss sharpness and understanding will benefit him and us.

I have to say, I have enjoyed the football in the second half … a bit more open and entertaining….I realize that we wont be as open on Wednesday, but for a friendly, it has been a good second half to watch … some of our fringe players are giving RD something to think about

Cifti was most definitely signed because of his strength , physical presence…Celtic have been looking for an affordable project on that front for a while…Balde, Fridjohnsan…

For 1.5 million, I suppose you have to live with deficiencies… However, I just hope Ronny and John Collins are coaching him, at lennoxtown, to knock off the rough edges.

However that aside, it’s wee Griffiths for me every day of the week.

And I know he has his weaknesses too… Poor touch, and link up…. But the wee man is busy, and on his left foot, is lethal.

  13. I’m not too sure about the “Cifti needs to lose weight” observations.

The guy has souness esq thighs, but his natural build is bulky.

That’s his strength. I’m not sure u can change the guys physique from what it is currently.

Yes , you can always get him sharper…. But not lose weight.

  14. Ciftci has been noticeable

    Scepovic invisible

Only one seems to have a future

We should loan Scepovic out and sign someone else.

ruggy …I agree … LG is invaluable to us, and has earned a starting spot, for sure. But, the rest of our starters aren’t creating much, and I think NC is the best guy to get the rest of them scoring …..

we all know how the forwards are supposed to be working in RD’s system, but it is clear that they dont get it as they aren’t doing it often enough …. I would be okay going 442 with both NC and LG up front, but I realize that RD doesn’t seem to like to deviate from the 4231, so I am thinking about NC as the middle of the 3 sometimes . It gives us a different look from when SJ plays there.

His middle is a little thick

The fitness and diet routine will help

    Great save Fasan.

    He has played very well
