CQN Vanessa Riddle Fundraiser

1180

I’m enjoying the chat as much as anyone these days but I know you all remember what were really about as a club.  We have an update on the CQN Vanessa Riddle pop quiz fundraiser which will be held at Jury’s hotel, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday February 11.

The great news is that Frank O’Hagan has agreed to come along and do a set to close the quiz off. Frank’s third CD – Green Light to Freedom – will be mixed and mastered in the studio over the next month. Frank is also doing a concert with his band in the Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross on Saturday 18th February. Details are on Frank’s website web. Frank is a top class musician is a terrific live performer. He is also a lovely guy, so we’re just absolutely over the moon to have Frank along. Our good friends at Carling are donating some prizes too, which is also excellent news.

We have some spaces left so if you want to come along, visit Taggsybhoy’s music quiz homepage and contact him with your team name and numbers (max of 6 to a  team). He will let you know if you are successful. It is first come, first served. Vanessa Riddle Appeal

I’m off to contemplate the false value of cheap laptop hard disks. One day lost and counting, damn you HP!

Gordon ,your friend would be even more confused

when explaining ‘stoat up ‘ between to teams,

when a Celtic player is never allowed to contest it.

  5. Would the government really intervene? How many votes could Salmond lose if he tried? And would he want to save the “quintessentially British” club anyway?

Being serious, I can’t see what the argument would be for government intervention. If it was to save a business/ employer then he would set a precedent and have many other failing businesses looking for him to do the same. And he wouldn’t want to be seen to be condoning non payment of tax, would he?

Was I angry, was it that obvious…

I’m tired of folk coming here and slagging off Celtic and asking in their posts not to be taken to task for it..

“The chatter is that the government wont let it happen they seem confident of this. And they also believe that Jim McColl of Clyde Blowers fame will buy them and take them forward.”

Seems to me that Jelavic was sold to allow the MBB working capital until the BTC decision comes to fruition.

If they win the case then it maybe possible for someone to buyout Mr Whyte, do not see why the Scottish Government would want to do this but I guess a Mea Culpa from HMRC would allow for them to do this morally – but with £30M up front and £10M per year to get a downsized RFC into shape – Why?

If they loose the BTC then it would be circa £100M, I think it would be highly dubious for a Government in these straitened times to put that sort of money into an institution that was incompetently run and defrauded the Taxman.

    Hail! Hail!

I caught up with the posts between yourself BRTH and FFM last night.

    You were talking about St.Augustine’s.

    I went there between 1956-60.

I had a previous conversation about it with Brogan, etc., as I remembered his mother from there.

A fine lady she was too, along with her colleague, the exotic looking Moira Ord.

I was sad to hear of it closing, but not as shocked as my brother, who had his daughter with him and had come up from Surrey.

He took her to see his Alma Mater, only to discover that it was then a field.

    I was a St.Agnes, Lambhill parishioner.

lorbobo- IMO UEFA & FIFA will take a step back when Newhuns FC start up.They will watch the SFA put a very sympathetic arm round their Brothers, and do as much to help them contest any penalties which might come their way.HH.

Sorry but I cannot reply properly right now,

  12. Following on from a question I posed earlier.

Now that administration (as a minimum) appears to be very likely, can someone with experience and knowledge of such a scenario stick up an Idiot’s Guide to What Administration Means.

I am aware of the basics in this regard, but I am sure there are some “bear traps” involved that myself and others would appreciate some schooling on.

    Thanks

    When its marketing might

    Would seem to invite

    A bigger, upstart imitation.

Administration is simply a form of corporate rescue designed to give the failing company some breathing space from its creditors and enable it to restructure its finances. A court will only permit an administrator to be appointed if it can be reasonably certain that administration will save the company.

The administrator then takes over all the running of the company and can do as he likes with any assets. he can use them in day to day running or he can sell them. He can sack staff and can negotiate loans with lenders. The administrators primary role is to rescue the company and to achieve as much money for all the creditors as possible.

In the case of a football club, the SPL have clear rules written down that state a club entering administration will be docked 10 points immediately. To achieve the best result possible for all the creditors, the administrator will probably seek to keep the club running with as many top players as possible but may seek to renegotiate the contracts. The administrator will most likely get rid of any non-profit making parts of the company and this could include murray park.

Whatever happens, it won’t be a quick fix as all these transactions will take time.

  23. My college had to find £4m worth of savings last year and paid off a number of staff to do so. In the Principal’s address last month, we were told a further £2m of savings were required this year ergo more redundancies. My last job, with the NHS, have been unable to recruit developers for two years and my old department haemorrhaged staff like no tomorrow (me included), with 6 full-time members of the development team, from a complement of 12, leaving and not being replaced.

What do you think would happen if, amongst all that and many more cutbacks, the SNP were able to come up with tens of millions to keep afloat a football club who have allegedly defrauded the government?

    It just will not happen.

Craig Whyte was filling out a job application for the position of SFA financial secretary after the huns went to hell and he made no money out his purchase. When it came to the question: “Have you ever been arrested?” He answered no to the question. The next question, intended for those who answered the preceding question with a yes, was “why?” Nevertheless, Craig Whyte answered it “Never got caught.”
