Day of reckoning draws close for Rangers

858

Companies have a statutory duty to produce financial reports in line with commitments made to shareholders.  The failure of Rangers to fulfil those commitments was put down to a lack of clarity over the future outcome of the on-going tribunal with HM Revenue and Customs.  As a consequence of this failure, trading in Rangers shares have been suspended by the Plus Stock Exchange.

The Plus Stock Exchange also told Rangers broadcast partner, STV, they were “currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances under which Craig Whyte’s seven year disqualification from acting as a director in 2000 were not disclosed at the time of his appointment to the board of Rangers FC on May 6, 2011”.

Rangers today suggested there was “little, if any, tangible benefit for the club to be a listed company”.  This may be true but the benefit of a listing is heavily weighted towards shareholders and creditors, who should have received structured financial information in a timely manner.  Shareholders have also been denied the opportunity to attend an Annual General Meeting, which, in line with stock exchange rules, should have been held before 31 December 2011.

Many of you have watched Rangers speculate wildly for over two decades with the feeling that they would crash and burn.  This has been a painful period for those who follow clubs who stick to budget, unprepared to take a seat at the roulette table.  The day of reckoning draws closer.

Interesting stats. Salihdi does seem to be doing what is required.

At 6ft 1 he is likely to be a different type player from our current duo.

    lets hope.

They’ll play a target man (Daly) with supporting runners, most notably Russell. It will be a day for the sitting midfielder to cut out a lot of the threat rather than the centre halfs face down a man running at speed. Wanyama and Ledley is the selection all day long in the middle. Forrest on the right with Stokes and Hooper up front.

One space left with the above selection. Ki, Brown and Sammy looking for it. (assuming Commons still not ready)

This is where I worry that the team is moved to accommodate people. Brown and Sammy as the favourites will play and that means Wanyama shoe horned into Rogne’s position, or Ledley to left back with Izzy on the bench. We’ll see. 4-0 at half time please Celts and we can revisit the discussion.

  8. Our front two aren’t players who hold up the ball well or are very good in the air.

Lennon is looking for a player who has the traits missing above.

By the way, Chris Sutton was an exceptional footballer.

Yep Chris Sutton was one of the best I’ve ever witnessed at holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

But sadly he cost £6m, I think if you move the decimal point one place to the left then you might be closer to the figure that we’d be prepared to pay now.

    We don’t need a midfielder.

    We don’t need a fullback.

    We don’t need a goalie.

My son is leaving for Brisbane end of Jan. 6 years training as an Architect has resulted in unemployment here in Scotland. For some strange reason I seem to remember you posting about the construction industry in Brisbane, if my memory is correct would you know of any Architect practices in the Brisbane aree which would be worth contacting re any vacancies

    Thanks in advance

    That’s a very good point,IMO.

I don’t contribute to the club, apart from half of the season ticket for my Dad and my sister, and I doubt I’ll be contributing while PL is there, for reasons explained before.

My contribution to the club was from the seventies through to the 2000s,but most of it disappeared!

I was going in the sixties, but got the usual lift……

The point is,are your opinions,or mine, less valid because we are historical customers rather than current ones?

And have the PLC not worked out that there are LOADS of historical customers out there, without our travelling difficulties, who are DESPERATE to rally behind the club, but for one reason or another, feel disenfranchised?

I’m not having a pop at KITALBA,his love for the club is obvious, legendary even, but some of us have our reasons for being more negative than others.

And by the way,my family disagree with me too!

  18. BlantyreKev

Saturday is a real acid test for Celtic tactics, Dundee Utd are the type of side who major in tactical battles, in comparison to other SPL sides.

The last two games we’ve had much better players, and any formation was enough but NL has to put thought into Utd’s style of break and

    score.

If that’s all we can afford so be it.

Chris Sutton was worth double that. Long ball or to feet his first touch was fantastic. What a player.

  21. I don’t see any of the other Australian or American based Tims on here year after year, window after window, bleating about Celtic and how they won’t spend other peoples money in their name, but I admire you Syd, all alone you pick up the slack for all those overseas Tims who don’t feel the need to berate the club for not conducting itself to your own personal agenda.

“Drogehda. Not me that made the statement but John Reid in June 2010

We reduced our debt from over 5m to approx 500k”

SydenyTim it was you who said the debt was 500k. The 500k figure referred to by the club is the “net bank debt” which is a horse of a different colour. I have no interest in whether you watch your balance sheet dvd’s or not. Whatever floats your boat. Given that you have more than once implied that you can read a balance sheet then I find it strange you persist in propagating misinformation. As a final point the only statement I am aware of from the club with regards to zero debt is that it was not a club objective as opposed to “manageable debt level” which was.

  25. Still awaiting the out pouring of grief from the press that one of the leagues star players is out for the season.

Beram Kayal has been a star in this league and it’s clear that Elbows was to take him out.

Disgrace to the league that the thug was allowed to play to put our man out for the season.

Very angry about this today. I was hoping Kayal may have not been as bad as first feared. Hope the players win the treble for him.

Can’t agree with you big fella. In recent weeks/months the central defensive area has taken on a more solid, cohesive look to it regardless of who has been playing there. Yes there have been mistakes but that can and does happen to any team.

We still need that big, aggressive, up-and-at-em type centre forward that has been missing since BBJ moved on.

A Chris Sutton type but in the sales :-)

I know several people who live and die Celtic but can’t afford the bus fare to Parkhead. It is not what you contribute to the coffers in isolation (or often at all) that makes you a pro-active Tim, often it is how you speak of the club and what you demand from it that helps to define your worth as a supporter.
