Day of reckoning draws close for Rangers

858

Companies have a statutory duty to produce financial reports in line with commitments made to shareholders.  The failure of Rangers to fulfil those commitments was put down to a lack of clarity over the future outcome of the on-going tribunal with HM Revenue and Customs.  As a consequence of this failure, trading in Rangers shares have been suspended by the Plus Stock Exchange.

The Plus Stock Exchange also told Rangers broadcast partner, STV, they were “currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances under which Craig Whyte’s seven year disqualification from acting as a director in 2000 were not disclosed at the time of his appointment to the board of Rangers FC on May 6, 2011”.

Rangers today suggested there was “little, if any, tangible benefit for the club to be a listed company”.  This may be true but the benefit of a listing is heavily weighted towards shareholders and creditors, who should have received structured financial information in a timely manner.  Shareholders have also been denied the opportunity to attend an Annual General Meeting, which, in line with stock exchange rules, should have been held before 31 December 2011.

Many of you have watched Rangers speculate wildly for over two decades with the feeling that they would crash and burn.  This has been a painful period for those who follow clubs who stick to budget, unprepared to take a seat at the roulette table.  The day of reckoning draws closer.

Good Morning to the Celtic Family from a dry overcast Central Scotland. I suppose it is early in the transfer window but im surprised we are not trimming fringe players from our employment. We have a very large squad and quite a few imo who will never be first team regulars and this is costing a lot in wages that could be better used. We are being ruled out for one or two players as there transfer values are hiked up out of our price range however,if we didnt have to pay so much out in salaries to fringe players we might well be able to afford a couple of better players.H.H.

I know exactly what you mean, and I’m glad you understood the point I was making.

I think a lot of real fans are losing their connection, not to the club, not to the team, but to the people who represent us off the pitch.

I know that times have changed since I-and you-went to our early games in our formative years, but I certainly don’t remember being brought up to believe in a club managed by an accountant.

My club was always managed by legends, and the occasional numptie, but they were always football people first.

I honestly do not see that now,and it worries me.

The tackle might have been 50-50 although show me a link to where NL said this.

The follow through and the resultant injury were not.

WHat kind of 50-50 would it have been if McCulloch was off the field where he should have been due to his suspension?

  14. Hamiltonthim- I agree we are leaking fewer goals, but that is because we are playing much better as a team, especially in midfield.

The key to the defensive improvement has been the contribution of big Vic.

Supposing he gets injured, or even worser, asset managed?

Supposing Cha Mul Grew gets injured/ suspended?

We need need need need need need need need a centre half.

It’s a part of the squad that’s been neglected for far too long.

Kenny miller may have been the top scorer in the SPL but he played more games than Hooper.

SoccerAm end of season program had stats for top strikers in Europe, Hooper was the top scorer in Britain in goals per game.

He was fourth in Europe behind Ronaldo, Messi and DiNatale.

I agree with you mate, football has evolved to the monster we know today, but it was also money orientated back when we were kids too. I often agree with Syd and others but I can’t see us gambling again after what almost happened to us pre-Fergus. If we want to compete at the top end again we have to have the revenue to buy in the calibre of player required. We all know to attempt to achieve success through debt is not the route best taken. So why people promote it is hard for me to understand. I want the berst for my club too but more than that I just want a club. An honest club.

  18. It is just a pity that Lenny was too quick with his comments ,regarding the tackle/assault by thug elbows on Kayal.

In retrospect,I think Lenny and Celtic would be saying more about it today,if the previous comments were not made.

As far as a striker is concern,we need one as both Stokes and Hooper are not scoring enough goals.I think Rhodes could be the one,can we afford him?Iif we moved on a number of fringe players why not.Slan

I heard NL say that the tackle was a 50-50, all the next day on the news on radio.

I think Neil was wildly off the mark with that assessment which leads me to think that, he has been reigned-in by the board or, he’s given up the fight vs the establishment ?mmm

Apologies, Miller musnt not have been included in the stats as he only played half of the season, checking wiki miller hit the net 21 times in 18 spl games.

    Sign Kenny Miller.

  23. 2 trialists named in the starting line up for a bounce game at Lennoxtown against St Johnstone. Lustig also starting

  24. Regarding the McCulloch tackle.

Publicly Neil may be saying it was 50/50 but privately he will be fuming. Moaning about decisions done him no favours last season. Keep focussed on the job ahead. Beram is injured and no amount of moaning and whingeing will change that. The tackle was 50/50 in my view but elbows has form and probably went in to hurt Beram. I’m still not convinced that it wasn’t Rogne who injured Beram.

No matter we have lost kayal for the remainder of the season and we must move on. We have Ledley, Wanyama, Brown & Ki to fill in and also Paddy who can play in there when required.

Neil Lennon is learning and maturing into this role. Say very little and they have nothing to twist against you. He has handled the media well and is looking more and more the manager we all thought he could be.

Last season was enough to make anyway walk away but Neil came through it stronger and wiser.

Neil will not let a thug get in the way of the goal this season. Deal with it and move on. Dwelling on things helps nobody.

Process Engineers are in big demand out here too. This is the place to come – at the moment – to get the experience to take you back to London to secure the good jobs. If that is a route you would be happy to choose. It is only a day away mate, though I know that so many think it too far, it isn’t really.

I agree that the palpatations as a direct result of watching the Celtic defence have largely decreased as a result of the entire team playing better and in particular the addition of Victor at either centre half or centre midfield.

Being a glass half full type of bhoy I’m hoping that he will neither be sold or suffer a long term injury. I’d agree that for the last couple of years a solid, composed centre half was a priority.

Now I don’t, if we sign the type of striker that we’ve also been crying out for then we will coast our way to the title. Just my opinion mind.
