Dear SFA, a joke hurt our feelings

1666

Can you imagine how a formal complaint about the comment ‘Rory Bremner can pretend to be Tony Blair’ would be composed?

‘Dear SFA, a rude man’s joke hurt our feelings.  Tell him straight, no more jokes!’

I clicked onto the NEW club’s site to confirm their reaction.  As well as complaining about a joke [it wouldn’t hurt if it wasn’t true], they complain about the Daily Record, “the paper is riddled from top to bottom with an anti-Rangers bias”, just to prove they also have a sense of humour.

They also attempted to put a stake in the ground by affirming that Pinsent Masons, now representing Scotland’s champions and sole Champions League participants, did not report to the police that Craig Whyte has any connection to the club/company.

No one has ever suggested that Pinsent Masons made such a report.  This is a bit like insisting that Ally McCoist will not manage the Champions League winners this season.  Pinsent Masons were far too busy taking instructions from their top client’s chief executive, in his non-comedic role.

What a laugh!

Baku.I’d love to find that post again, I can’t remember what I wrote but i can remember it was a long and arduous post for me.

It took me hours and hours to write down what was in my head, The keyboard was foreign to me, Just picture yourself starting off for the first time on a keyboard I would take 10.20 seconds to find each letter, it was a long and drawn out affair, I could have called it a day, that day, but I persevered, and now i can find letters after five seconds, but I’m glad I persevered, I have met many, many good friends from that day on, still meeting more to this day.

PS.if anyone knows how to go back over the years and find that post for me.Free drinks if we ever meet up.

  7. Had an interesting evening on Saturday…..I had a ticket to see Martin Simpson in Milngavie Folk Club( unbelievably talented musician…check him on you tube)

Anyway…was getting ready to go, when i got a call from my brother(Paul, if you are reading…thanks:)….he told me to meet him in a restaurant up there, when i arrived, who was there but the man himself Martin Simpson.

So theres the green man, green mans brother, Martin, and his mate terry

Tell you what….those guys played all over the world, and had some great stories, truly

Anyway…we had our meal, then went to the soundcheck……and when he began to play, i was almost in tears

He went on to play beautifully….guitar and banjo skills, i was totally in awe

    Fantastic…..

  8. I must say on many occasions i used to get peeved when some of the points i made were ignored .so i can understand west csc getting the same feeling . Now i just put in my tuppence worth , and be dashed whether my point is accepted or rejected . Ive over 55years following the bhoys ive seen it all , and as far as im concerned that gives me my right to a say . I have also enjoyed a few orange juices with the cqn bhoys , and have never returned home disappointed with anyone i met . So my advice to west csc is post away , and when a gathering is advertised , turn up you,ll be well taken care off . Just one wee thing bhoys . We dont all have to be clever cloggs to post here . Some of us arent as smart as others , a wee bit tolerance please , there are plenty out there ready to pick on us .

  9. i must admit im not sure about this living wage issue, i would happily work for celtic for free if i could but would i work if minimum wage was what i brought home to the wife? a big fat no would have to be the answer, however if celtic are paying what is the going rate then let those on any wage, on or off the field negotiate for themselves…..:great post corkcelt ! As always h h

  10. Auldheid,

I was at a match at Tynecastle when he gave us a torrid time and thought the same as yourself about him.

I also held Alan Gordon in high regard as a striker. He was one of only 3 players I can recall who gave Big Billy a real challenge in the air.

The others being Ron Davies and, whisper it,Derek Johnstone (although Big Billy was probably a wee bit past his best then)

I thought Alan Gordon would have scored a barrowload for us with the kind of service he would get.

If I remember correctly,he scored 2 against us for Dundee United at CP on a very wet and wild evening when we won 7-2 and Jimmy Johnstone gave, for me,the finest performance of his career. That’s right, even better the v. Red Star.

We need to start from the position of paying a living wage, then our Board can work out how to ‘cover’ in the overall ‘budget’ ……e.g. £x onto the season ticket, say £5, for the difference between what we pay now, and what we should be paying….

It’s a little unfair to have the lowest paid dependent upon the performance of the best paid to be paid.

    =====================

    Cheers.

Is all the pay not dependent on the performance of the best paid at the end of the day and is that not why the best paid are the best paid?

My point is that there is a cost to paying a living wage and that needs to be recognised.

I’m all for paying a living wage but who pays and in what form is missing.

On reading the Board’s response (which I have just done) it looks a bit like what I suggested.

The only difference is they could have said we hear you but have concerns about increasing fixed costs. However we will ensure that through our bonus arrangements those not on a living wage receive an amount that will redress the shortfall between what they are paid and what would be paid if they were on a living wage when bonuses are awarded.

Thus the objective is met but flexibility to meet changing circumstances retained.

Maybe not an ideal arrangement but better than NO!

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That would have been my tack rather than a rejection.

It seems to me that support to pay a living wage is overwhelming and that an increase on the SB price would be in order.

There just needed an honest calculation of the full cost and how much that would have added to the ticket price.

Then perhaps a vote on whether the support were happy to pay that cost.
