Dear SFA, a joke hurt our feelings

1666

Can you imagine how a formal complaint about the comment ‘Rory Bremner can pretend to be Tony Blair’ would be composed?

‘Dear SFA, a rude man’s joke hurt our feelings.  Tell him straight, no more jokes!’

I clicked onto the NEW club’s site to confirm their reaction.  As well as complaining about a joke [it wouldn’t hurt if it wasn’t true], they complain about the Daily Record, “the paper is riddled from top to bottom with an anti-Rangers bias”, just to prove they also have a sense of humour.

They also attempted to put a stake in the ground by affirming that Pinsent Masons, now representing Scotland’s champions and sole Champions League participants, did not report to the police that Craig Whyte has any connection to the club/company.

No one has ever suggested that Pinsent Masons made such a report.  This is a bit like insisting that Ally McCoist will not manage the Champions League winners this season.  Pinsent Masons were far too busy taking instructions from their top client’s chief executive, in his non-comedic role.

What a laugh!

    11:33 on

    18 November, 2013

    Might just do that.

    The originalsadiesbhoy

The Nevin interview will go out in the next edition of the magazine along with various others so there will be a wee bit of time yet— and I am glad of that.

I haven’t mentioned the meeting with Nevin last night quite deliberately and really don’t want to discuss it too much before the article appears as I want to do a little digging and maybe some follow up to what he said.

What I will say is this.

I agreed with Winning Captains that we would describe the interview as “Astonishing”.

Well, having slept on it, considered it, and allowed some hours to pass I would have to say it was a meeting which left me angry, annoyed, disturbed, bothered and if I am honest emotional.

At this juncture I cannot and will not say why but later in the Pub I asked the Winning Captains a question:

“OK how much of that do you think was bullshit?”

He came back with an answer which married my own thoughts exactly.

” Not a word! None of it. That was absolutely for real!”.

Even typing this I want to swear like a trooper!!!

Anyway there are bits of info to be collected and some things to be followed up so enough for now but honestly really bothered by that meeting.

  2. Was up at Lennoxtown yesterday and watched the U-14’s defeat their St Mirren counterparts by 7 goals to 3. The game was great and the Paisley youths had a great start to the match. However, the young Celts scored the opener and went on to win convincingly. The incisive passing from Celtic’s central midfielder and captain, led to 2 really outstanding goals.

But Lennoxtown, what a place. The back of beyond, cold, damp and miserable. looking across at the Campsies the low clouds seemed to be at the same height as the pitch.

By the way I don’t thunk Administration existed back when Celtic were in trouble.

It would have been receivership or liquidation but don’t expect the MSM to know the difference or what the procedure would be.

  5. the long wait is over on

On the whole going into admin/ liquidation nonsense.

To me it’s like a woman getting pregnant – she either is or isn’t pregnant.

    There really isn’t a “nearly”.

It couldn’t be more black and white or , indeed , simple.

We didn’t go in to administration. They did.

We didn’t go into liquidation. They did.

Only the truly deluded can fail to see the polar opposites contained in those statements.

Let me also just add this.

Sevco fans’ aggressive and desperate attempts to convince themselves and others of a non existent reality are driven by the pain of realisation , and no matter how deep down it may be it is still there , that none of this will ever be forgotten or truly erased.

    Ever.

    Not in 1 year , not in 10 , not in a 100.

    Ever.

    That’s gotta hurt.

Had a fun wee run-in wi some more-educated-than-most huns on Saturday.

Giving it tight about Amsterdam. IRA songs. Holding company. Whole kitbag and caboodle.

Then they came out with the story about Celtic going bust in 94.

They were like a cheap 70s double act.

It was fun while it lasted, and you canny educate pork.

But I tried my best. Poor sods still believe that what they read in the papers is true, and that if it isn’t reported, then it didn’t happen.

Magic, innit? It will be their undoing.

    Again.

  10. Dusted down an old post but a factual one re us and them:

My company was banking with the Royal Bank of Scotland when the financial sword of Damocles was hanging over us and attended a dinner for all corporate clients in the hotel that was the old North British on Princes Street.

Huge room full of tables each holding 6 business owners and 6 bank staff.

What struck me was the air of hilarity when I entered. It was as if most of the people attending had been given a whiff of laughing gas and a bottle of champagne.

It soon became clear from listening to my table and the surrounding ones, and visits to the toilet, bar, etc. that one topic was causing the mirth. The Bank of Scotland’s imminent closure of our beloved club!

My blood boiled and any revisionist who tries to spin the line that there was equal concern for us as there was for Rangers is talking rot. Check it out in the archives of newspapers of the day, there was a smug satisfaction that poor old Timmy wasn’t really up to running a business.

We showed them different without the help of concerned political leaders, press, or PR gurus.

The ‘minutes from closure’ phraseology still rankles with me to this day. I was deeply involved with the events of early 1994.

Yes we were in financial trouble but we were not in danger of imminent closure – in the unlikelihood of it being pursued it would have taken months, if not a year or more to have gotten to the ‘liquidation’ stage had good Celtic Men such as; John Keane, Fergus McCann and the Support (Shareholders) not stepped in.

Bit like me on Friday night – I was minutes away from winning the £80M EuroMillions – until the draw was made! :-(

  13. Dick Gaughan .

Remember seeing him on a bill with Ten Years After in Plymouth in the early 70s .

A very strange bill and a truly wild night.. Lots of blootered sailors [ from various navies ] on shore leave, lots of west country Hells Angels and lots of Plymouth bootboys ..The inevitable ensued.

  14. MWD :-)

EddieK, sorry for delay, logged off last night after posting,he will be pleased, plays for them, centre Mid, I think ?, although I believe he may be their top scorer this season ? Not ,the hoops so don’t really pay much attention :-)

I returned from SA on. Friday 2nd, we won the league on 3rd, and daughter No 1 born on 9th, before I returned to SA on 16th, that was some visit home :-)

    Hail Hail

  15. Big Nan

He should have withdrawn from proceedings in my opinion, it would have ensured that his character would not be called into question and also protected the integrity of the hearing.

However at the moment he is acting within the current rules, so how then can a mason allow the chance to disrupt this bill to slide, he can’t.

I actually think he had made other people on the panel aware of this, as the tone of the questions seemed to be based around the character of the man. As I said last night I think you should prepare an argument on maintaining the integrity of the hearing , but try and avoid bringing individuals character into it, unless of course it suits you.

    Hail Hail.

  16. Just received the CQN annual and had a quick flick through this high quality production- congratulations to the designers and photographers by the way.

I noticed in the name check strips on each page that some posters have entered the twice named clique- (whitedoghunch and the little gentleman in the velvet waistcoat amongst others).

Joe Fillipis Haircut and marrakesh express even get mentioned twice on the same page. They must be super elite.

But best of all, I notice that minx1888 and hamiltontim are not on the same page- there’s your set up line.

Congratulations again to those that produced the magazine and annual.

    BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS backs Resolution 12 11:51 on 18 November, 2013

Aye. It really is an eye-opening experience.

Having gone over a year without any discussion with Zombies, I’ve had brief conversations with two in the last couple of months.

The latest encounter came when another Celtic man and myself with sitting with one of our Hun mates in the pub the night before the Ajax game, when our space was invaded by some Zombie gushing with praise about Templeton’s (??) performance at some ground with a hedgerow round it. Our mate looked very embarrassed, as the two of us were pissing ourselves.

Anyway, yer actual Zombie then starts about ‘punishing the SPL clubs when they get back’. Obviously, that wasn’t going to pass and he was swiftly corrected on the finer points of liquidation.

And there was further encouraging signs when I asked him who was to blame for the liquidation of Rangers, and he said: “David Murray.”

    I nearly fainted.

So I said: “Murray is to blame. I totally agree with you. So why should the other clubs be punished when it is Murray who caused the liquidation of Ranger?”

He said: “Cos the other clubs blocked the CVA.”

To think there was a brief moment when I thought I’d found a sensible Zombie.

  18. Praecepta

Good summing up of the events of the time.

In all honesty it does not really matter how close we were to closing/admin/liquidation because it never happened and any day I think or read about them makes that even specialer ( made up word but it works)

Walked into a British pub in goa last night. . Wearing a celtic top. Same pub I often frequent when here on hols and normally wearing a celtic shirt.

Last night im met by a gruff glaswegian voice.. here comes a troublemaker .. he shouts.

He asks ” and who do you support son”

The only big team still alive in glasgow … I reply.

I could see the anger in his eyes .. then he starts with the same club / new company bs.

I laughed away at his attempts to justify them being the same… then asked if it was the same for airdrie… clydebank. .. gretna… third lanark.

I asked why they didnt play in champs league last season when runners up in spl. And why started in 4th tier and early rounds of scottish cup too.

He said that it was the celtic boards fault.. They voted them out. Said it was a disgrace cos when fergus bought us the huns voted us to stay in ;)))))

I asked when we were in admin or liquidation. .. he said it was all the same and just means cant pay your bills.

One other classic was that the sfa jumped the gun in demoting them as they were not liquidated as they were found not guilty of ebts….. lmfao

I asked .. did no players receive illegal payments. ..

Yeah but not all of them as accused

I gave him the ” so if you only murder 10 people and not 100 your not a murderer ”

Well you know the reply … BJK .

He then asked me if I missed playing them… and I answered” as much as the jews miss the nazis”

Sorry for bursting in on Canamalar’s resolution which I support but just a quick one for you to think on.

Should Angus MacDonald MSP, a declared Freemason, have taken part in dicussions and voted on PE01491?

    From http://www.tomminogue.com/blog7.php/petition-01491

I also feel that while it is comendable that Angus MacDonald MSP volunteered the fact that he is a member of Lodge Zetland No.391 in the register of interests for members of the Scottish Parliament, which was something he didn’t need to do according to Standing Orders as I understand them, any merit he gained for his willingness to do this is negated to a large degree by the fact that he did not declare his membership Live & On The Record at the beginning of the hearing into a matter that he has a direct interest in, I.E. my PE01491.

I feel that Angus MacDonald missed a chance to show openly that he had an interest in the petiton and to step aside and not vote on it as he did that morning.I would have respected him more if he had done so instead of pursuing Grand Lodge’s misguided Italian misinterpretation with such zeal.
