Defence need to play-up for their keeper

812

First the treble then the double slipped through the net leaving Celtic absolute certainties for the inaugural Scottish Premiership title, but with only a couple of higher aspirations to aim for.  Fraser Forster is closing in on Bobby Clark’s Aberdeen league shut out record, which if he keeps a clean sheet at home to St Johnstone on Sunday, he would be able to eclipse 31 minutes into the visit to Tynecastle on 22 February.

Neil Lennon called Saturday’s defeat unacceptable but it would be just as unacceptable to concede to St Johnstone at home this weekend when so close to an all-time record.    Saints have scored only one league goal away from home (at Firhill) since winning at Tynecastle on 2 November last year.  Notwithstanding their four Cup goals at Forfar on Saturday, you could not wish for a more goal-shy league visitors.

The manager was rightly critical of his defence on Saturday so will hopefully use this weekend to ensure they are ready to play up for their goalkeeper this Sunday.

One of the highlights for the Celtic community last year was the incredible Ben Nevis Huddle, completed on the snow-capped mountain in June. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 28 June. Applications opened on Friday and there are only 77 places left (big mountain but limited safe standing capacity). Go here if you want to get involved.

I can’t accept that as excuse. If they are not proffessional enough to do the job they shouldn’t be there.

Does everyone in other teams love the club as much as their fans?

There is a lack of drive and commitment in the team. The league is the priority and that is wrapped up. We were 2-1 for a long time on Saturday the players didn;t throw caution to the wind. Nobody burst a gut thinking it’s do or die here we are out! I can’t understand that mentality. It confuses me.

Wongs in the food court at the St Enoch Centre do a fabulous chips with curry sauce. Shuts at 7pm on Saturdays though, so may not suit.

From what I can gather, it was pretty bad.

They seem to take pride in the fact that they hate everyone, which wasn’t always the case, as I said in my earlier post.

Just like they all seem to think they’re hard men, cause they used to have a decent “firm” of casuals. I’d like to see any one of them up against your typical east end hard nut, they’d soon learn they weren’t so tough!

To re new the Directors authority to Allot Securities.

To renew the Directors’ authority for the disapplication of pre-emption rights.

The above were resolutions voted on at Sevco’s AGM, Pre-emption rights protect shareholders from the dilution of their stakes and passing this resolution would have given the board the ability to sell shares to selected investors for as little as a penny a time. The resolution failed as it required 75% of all votes and it only secured 67.9%, which means it failed by just over 7%.Sevco’s board stated that they may renew attempts to secure this privilege in future.

The other resolution was passed as it only needed a simple majority of votes, this resolution allows directors to receive share options. I’m not sure about this but I think after the floatation there was about a third of the total share issue not allocated and this resolution now allows members of the board to buy these shares.

This would lead me to speculate that someone on the board has a plan and it involves being in overall control of a majority of the shares. Would it be such a wild guess that someone on the board is now buying these shares and rather than an administration event in the near future we have a EGM called to vote on the Directors’ authority for the disapplication of pre-emption rights? The resolution only failed by 7.1% so it wouldn’t really require much to get this motion passed.

Well said,I could not care I never attended another game with that lot involved.

I have no problem with defeat when it is fair, but as you rightly said for years the rules have been either overlooked or bent to our dis-advantage.

Whilst I did not enjoy our recent exit,my over riding regret is the demise of our support for what was to be a competitive game which should have satisfied the part timers who miss the inclusion of the Huns,God knows why.

That said I think our Board have contributed to this malaise, with their reluctance to challenge genuine grievances regarding our support, instance Dundee Boxing day ” the riot” we as a Club should have contested these allegations, like wise the SFA allowing all sorts of manipulative practices to be employed regarding Sevco.

Add to that the total and scandelous dis-regard for travelling fans, particularly from Ireland,as fixtures and times are seemingly accepted without push back.

Lastly of course we as a Club stand by and allow blatant decisions by prejudiced referees to put us out of Competitions, instance Morton, and Hearts last year.

Bobby Madden has attended more games involving us than many of the fair weather fans.

If I, as an ever present, feel outraged by this seeming lack of interest for the Board to stand up and be heard, then it is no surprise the marginal fan opts for the pub or house.

No urgency has been our mantra often under Neil.

A cautious coach who places emphasis on possession and most of that negative.

No urgency could also be down to a lack of off the ball movement which is the norm.

No idea if we are coached to hold position but when your mids seem to hold rather than attack forward space the only passes left open are sideways or backwards giving the impression of no urgency.

Our cautious tactical approach is negating the strengths of players in our squad.

  21. eddieinkirkmichael on

Why is it we are only worried about clean sheets and no one cares about the pillow cases or Duvet cover?

  22. These leaflets were being handed out around CP on Saturday.

Fans Against Criminalisation have by now officially launched our single ‘’Roll of Honour’’ in association with The Irish Brigade.

FAC have done so to highlight the absurdity that is the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communication (Scotland) Act and the manner in which it has criminalised the Celtic support. One fan has already been found ‘guilty’ of contravening this act for singing this very song, whilst another fan is currently being held on remand for allegedly committing the same offence. There is also a backlog of Celtic fans awaiting trial for the same reason.

FAC contend that it is a damning indictment of the Scottish political and judicial system that legitimate expression of political opinion and cultural heritage within the context of a football match is now enough to result in a criminal conviction.

We urge the Celtic support to download this song to embarrass those who seek to criminalise us, to demonstrate that we stand by those who are being arrested at their homes and dragged through the courts and that we will not tolerate the continual harassment of our fellow fans at the hands of Police Scotland. The support for this campaign has already been overwhelming and we would like to thank all involved for their efforts so far. For those based in the UK, we have one week to attempt to push this single into the UK Official Top 40 Singles Chart. For those based elsewhere, FAC still urges people to aid this campaign by downloading this single which will help create a greater awareness of this issue whilst contributing to the FAC Legal Defence Fund.

We all have a part to play. Download the song here – https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/roll-of-honour-single/id814414107

  27. Still down about our cup exit and the prospect of blank dates on quarter final semi and final days I couldn’t care less about clean sheets and other irrelevant records. I do hope that Neil Lennon appreciates that the development of a side ready to deliver for CL qualifiers and next season’s challenges should be his only priority.

  28. Not sure why Neil would be critical of his defence on Saturday. Midfield was where the game was lost. Sammi was at fault in not defending the corner on the first goal, and Johansen was guilty of a lazy clearance leading up to the second.

Our midfield was shocking. Losing Ledley is just as big a blow as losing Wanyama. In Ledley’s case the manager knew he was likely going to be facing this scenario a long time ago. James Forrest and Sammi have little or no defensive capabilities. Johansen is an unknown entity, which leaves us with Scott Brown as the only player who would be a confident choice for me in Saturday’s midfield. Why our manager couldn’t see this is beyond me.

Lennon must take the blame for the defeat. No-one else.

Given we could only attract 30,000 spectators for the 2 best teams in Scotland in a Scottish cup tie, I suspect we will get nowhere near that for any of our games for the rest of the season. Such a shame when you consider our great league form and our stroll to 3-in-a-row. What are the people who run our club going to do about that? I wonder if we will see some creative thinking to address this issue.

  29. Chinese New Year – 31 January ’til 17 February.

No Chinese food available between those dates.

    Most other cuisines are.

    HH!!

  30. Syd Negakev of course it is down to the manager who makes it. We all have our views/thoughts/opinions just wondered who you thought/hoped would break through.Hail Hail Hebcelt
