Deila and Hutter bedding into their new teams

1385

There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic.  After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.

Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things).  New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.

Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

  1. I’ve just cast my vote. It struck me that what unites us all is that voting card. We are united as democratic Scots. We are united by a passion for the future of our country. My dearest hope now is that this very bond will not come to divide us fatally. Regardless of Yes or No, the worst result for Scotland will be if the fissures that have appeared between us are not healed. This is a momentous day for our country, but tomorrow and the day after Will be more momentous again. I do hope with all my heart that those on this blog who have come to verbal blows can find again what bound them to each other.

Greetings from the ICE 583 train to Munich, a wee visit to Salzburg to see the mighty Hoops then back to Munich for the Oktoberfest. I hope to wake up tomorrow morning as a member of the world’s newest independent country. Hardly seems a year ago when I met that youngster Awe_Naw for a couple of scoops in Munich Central station.

Hoping for at least a draw tonight but will settle for a win, COYBIG.

Thanks for that Ernie if only you has posted it before I would have changed my vote :-)

  6. Thought for the day……..

If Scotland gains its independence in the forthcoming referendum, the remainder of the United Kingdom will be known as the “Former United Kingdom” ….or FUK.

In a bid to discourage the Scots from voting ‘yes’ in the referendum, The Government have now begun to campaign with the slogan “Vote NO, for FUK’s sake”

They feel the Scottish voters will be able to relate to this.

  9. Ernie Lynch – I’ve been meaning to look into that Jim Mather quote ever since you started bandying it about here’s his own reflections of it from an article on the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office

A recent Herald interview quoted Mather as advocating the creation of more millionaires, proclaiming that “any notion that an independent Scotland would be a leftwing country is delusional nonsense”. While he is clearly unhappy with the quote – which he claims was taken out of context, Mather is philosophical about the incident: “I was delighted (not at the time) that I was misquoted like that and it is exceedingly helpful that I have been taken out of context and painted as some sort of right wing Genghis Khan who has infiltrated the SNP”. At pains to stress his social democratic credentials, Mather insists he is “totally relaxed” about progressive taxation. The biggest issue facing poor communities today, with the reduction of absolute poverty, Mather feels is relative poverty – “where you feel you come in the pecking order”. Speaking about the damaging effects of poverty on self-esteem and on health, quality of life and life expectancy, he insists he “couldn’t be more motivated to fix that … What I was trying to do was shorthand for saying ‘I want nothing to do with a communist-style command-led economy'”.

I also don’t think an independent Scotland would have a communist-style command-led economy.

  10. Top of the morning to you all from a dreich Fife which is brightening as I type.

Time to vote YES and put an end to illegal foreigne wars in my name.

That prospect cheers me on this grey morning more than the sight of the sun does.

I think bamboo may have been having a wee giddy laugh mhate. Nae pitchforks or eat the rich banners today.

As for jmccormick I think he’s expressing deeply held views and is correct in how a failure to vote Yes would lead us to be viewed. Jim Sillar’s old allegation of 90 minute patriots had now been superseded by kevin bridges’ acerbic wee observation – Scotland, the only nation who sh&t it fae independence?

He got caught telling the truth and the best he can come up with is to claim he was quoted out of context.

If that’s what you’re claiming quote the context.

    He said it.

    He meant it.

And he was telling the truth.

The nats have been shamelessly and deliberately lying to people about what a yes vote would mean.

You only have to look at what some of the poor deluded souls on here have been posting to know that.

We pawned anything we could some months in an attempt to get as far as we could.

  20. CELTIC can confirm that we plan to re-open Section 111 in the North East lower corner of the Stadium to season ticket holders, beginning with the forthcoming match against Motherwell to be played this Sunday, September 21.

The reopening follows a period of positive discussions with former Season Ticket holders within the section, during which it has been agreed that the safety of spectators must always be of paramount importance and that the reputation of the Club and its supporters must be protected at all times.

As is the case with all fans attending Celtic Park, compliance with ground regulations, competition rules and the law must be observed.

Celtic considers this move to represent significant progress in fan engagement and acknowledge the role played by supporters from the Section who have agreed to work with the Club to provide positive backing for the team in a safe environment, with further agreements in place that any breaches will result in a review of Section usage.

The Club was instrumental in establishing this section for supporters and we look forward to working together to ensure its long-term success in providing strong positive backing for Celtic manager Ronny Deila and the team.

I’ve been on 7 year journey to get to this point,I never ever thought that a big mad Tim household like mine would generate five YES votes!! Its really quite incredible.

if you feel bullied , fair enough. I don’t know you but your aggressive posting of late suggest deep felt anger, frustration and worry.

Just an opinion , no need to fret. I heard someone once say that “if all the big dugs had the attitude of all the wee dugs, there widnae be any wee dugs ”

I understand that, we all have to live together and feeling bullied by a blog post is a bit too much.

I’m not claiming he was quoted out of context. He’s stating it (all the way back in 2003). He’s clarified what he meant and it’s clear his use of ‘left wing’ in this context differs widely from your interpretation.

I’ve a busy day ahead and I’m logging off. So we’ll need to leave it there.
