Deila and Hutter bedding into their new teams

1385

There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic.  After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.

Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things).  New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.

Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

Ernie has a stutter clearly… but no vote

Well I’ve voted so that feels like a 6 pointer for ‘Yes I believe in Scotland over Westminster and Hope over Fear’

C’mon, pal. You must be kidding.

There’s much, much more at stake than deciding one’s vote on what an SNP politico said or didn’t say.

Scots folk aren’t daft. Nor are we all that much different from other folk from these fair isles.

I’m also pretty confident the vast majority of those who vote ‘Yes’ today are not nationalists.

What would be nice, would be have the power to debate and decide these matters amongst ourselves, free from the behemoth of the Westminster.

    We can do this …

Big Nan – all those masons will be salivating at getting unbridled power in scotland.

    Excited?

They are salivating that much the majority of them will be voting NO

  5. It’s interesting to watch the nats HVP method in action on here.

What I’m looking forward to is seeing how they cope with the result tomorrow.

    He was being honest.

That’s what’s touched a raw nerve with the nats.

It’s a bit like Salmond’s ‘we didn’t mind the economic side so much’ quote about Thatcher.

Just occasionally the mask slips and they tell the truth.

  7. No to separation, yes to away points – a nice double for the day!

Hope we don’t go for all out attack in Austria tonight, we need to show a bit of tactical nous and sit back a little. A draw would not be a bad start to the group.

  8. Keith Jackson on Twitter – surely some mistake:

“@tedermeatballs: I’m voting no. And i’m doing so because i love my daughter. And i’m a passionate scotsman. A pragmatist. Not a Romanist.”

  9. I hope and I pray that the people of Scotland see that they are a talented and capable people and that all the years of lies all the years of being treated as fools can be consigned to the past and in the past thy shall remain.

Scotland you are a wonderful and beautiful country with a good heart.

The Commonweal will no longer be overlookit.

The negativity will no longer be all we have given the world or ourselves.

Now’s the time and now’s the hour.

It is our time of reckoning and we’ve got to take it.

When you depend upon yourself you grow bigger, you work harder, you achieve more.

To those who say it is a risk I say this – we are supposed to take risks in life.

This is a risk worth taking. For a new direction, for self-respect and for our children’s futures.

Never forget those who got us to this point who are no longer with us – Jimmy Reid and Margo MacDonald and many many others whose words and wisdom inspired generations of Scots and whose words still resonate now.

We can be more than we have been told we can. We just have to want to do it.

I hope that today we throw off the psychological shackles we have often imposed on ourselves and see that we are a nation that people across the globe are pulling for today. They want us to join them, they want us to join the world and they will embrace us as friends, colleagues, partners and equals.

    This is our time.

    Our time.

  10. What about Derk.

Thanks for the well wishers and I am well right enough. I have 3 page document following the brain scan last Monday morning but haven’t a clue what it says as it’s in Espania, I think it says what’s left seems to be In the shape of a Yes.

Seriously though anybody got any advice or experience of having a head wound stapled ugh! Will they need to be removed soon or keep them in for a number of weeks. I have an appointment with the nurse tomorrow to change the bandage and get advice, I’m considering going to the A&E at Blackpool as I think that’s where they may send me tomorrow anyway.

One interesting aspect is that the UK media now know from experience just exactly what the nats are all about and how they operate.

I suspect there will be some interesting stuff to come out.

  14. I see my local ‘ludge’ has been busy throughout the night, ripping down yes posters and replacing with ‘butchers aprons’

Well a colleague says “I have a postal vote”, another colleague says “What did you vote”. “Not telling” was the reply, “So it’s a YES then” the other one said, “No,No” was the reply………….

And there’s more…………………………………………… he forgot to post it, ha ha ha

  18. I would guess from the feeling here that the CQN demographic is about 65% in favour of Yes.

    Reasonable assumption ?

any chance you might give me a simple yes or no to my question,

have you actively campaigned on the streets

  23. I thought you may be interested in this somewhat evasive response to the FOI I sent to Police Scotland. Quite apart from the gymnastics they try not to reveal the data it seems that scottish catholics are underepresented in police scotland (12% as oppossed to 16% of the population). I’m sure thats not a sign of sectariansim at work in scotland today. Surely not?

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 2002

    SUBJECT: CATHOLIC EMPLOYEES

I refer to your request for information received 20 August 2014, regarding the above which has been handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

For ease of reference, your request is replicated below together with the response.

I would like to request details of the percentage of the Police Scotland workforce (and previous Scottish police forces) employees who are catholic from 1990 to the present day.

In response to this question, I would first of all advise you that that on 1 April 2013, Scotland’s 8 former police forces, the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) and the Association of Police Officers Scotland (ACPOS), merged to form Police Scotland, which is now responsible for policing across the length and breadth of Scotland.

In terms of your request, the position is that the 8 legacy police forces (which are now ‘Divisions’ of Police Scotland) use different recording systems in relation to Religion or Belief Monitoring.

Recording practices were introduced to the legacy Scottish Police Forces in 2008 to ensure compliance with the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003.

Prior to this time there was no legal requirement to undertake equality and diversity monitoring in relation to Religion or Belief.

As such, in terms of Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, this represents a notice that the information you seek regarding the period 1990 to 2008 is not held by Police Scotland.

    NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED

    NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED

    -2-

During 2008, Religion and Belief Monitoring was introduced as best practice to ensure not only that legacy forces were representative of the communities that they served but also to ensure that Forces were working towards the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 which introduced a statutory requirement to undertake Equality and Diversity Monitoring.

The relevant information is held within a specific field of the electronic personnel file of each employee and is a ‘live’ value in the sense that it can be added, amended or removed at any point. No record is maintained with regard to when, for example, a specific category was chosen or was changed from one value to another.

It is unfortunately not possible therefore to determine the number of staff who had identified their religion as Roman Catholic at a particular point in the past – it is only possible to produce a live figure.

Between 2008 and the introduction of Police Scotland, information regarding the Religion or Belief of legacy Force employees was of course reported on an annual basis using the ’current’ figures at the relevant time.

However, to ensure consistency, as legacy Forces recorded Religion or Belief information in different systems, figures were reported using more general categories such as ‘Christian’ which would include Roman Catholic.

Unfortunately therefore, I regret that in terms of Section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, this represents a notice that the information you seek for this period is not held by Police Scotland.

With regard to the current situation, I can advise you that Religion or Belief information is now reported in more detail and it is therefore possible to provide figures relating to the percentage of staff who have identified their religion or belief as Roman Catholic as follows:

    12% Police Officers

    12% Police Staff

    8% Special Constables

These figures include any member of staff who was employed by Police Scotland as at 31st March 2014 and who had chosen to identify their religion or belief as Roman Catholic.

Please note that there is no requirement for staff to provide this information and staff can choose not to disclose their information if they so wish.

Should you require any further assistance concerning this matter please contact me directly on 01382 596657 quoting the reference number given.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which your request has been dealt with, you are entitled in the first instance, and within 40 working days of receiving
