Deila and Hutter bedding into their new teams

1385

There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic.  After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.

Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things).  New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.

Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

Thanks to everyone who signed up to participate in the Great Scottish Run to raise funds for the Foundation in their work with poverty, equality, learning and health.  You can sign up here.

We’ve had over 3,000 responses so far to the survey on Celtic fans, who they are, where they came from, and what their views are.  The results will give an excellent insight into this time in our history.  If you’ve not had a chance to leave your mark yet, please do so here (only your first submission counts).

Correct. This weekend I might win the lottery. This weekend my country might be flushed down the toilet. This weekend the huns might go bust. All hypothetical of course. If I knew any of it for sure I’d bet my house anbd childrens future on it, but since I don’t I won’t.

Stange how so many supporters of the boards non-risk taking policy and the future of their club are advocating the opposite with their vote and the future of their country and her children.

Hats of to Elaine C Smith and Rory Bremner who at least had something to say and made their points well in a reasonable manner.

How many years have you been lambasted criticising various Celtic boards on many issues, in particular on its financials, Celtic have a turnover 50-70 million compared to a nation’s finances its pocket money, Dermot Desmond, Lord Reid, Brian Wilson, Deputy governor BoE Brian Quinn, Ian Bankier and Lord Livingston of Parkhead all have been subjected to your scorn in relation to your great love of Celtic

Its strange that these men have to be listened to in relation to a nation’s well being, but not in relation to running Celtic

    YES!

To give our kids and grandkids freedom from the London Mafia who have milked Scotland of its riches for decades.

  9. There are millions of people in England who wish they had the chance to rid ourselves of the clique which runs Westminster. I really envy Scotland’s opportunity today.

You Scots can have a better, fairer society if you want it.

    Good luck.

I’m not too sure what you are saying there, but if you are saying I tore into Lord Reid, Brian Wilson, Deputy governor BoE Brian Quinn, Ian Bankier and Lord Livingston (as you name them) and several Celtic boards, I think you are well mistaken. DD now I’ve said some good and some bad about him.

  13. Lights on in the local polling station . A big YES sign at the door and already several cars have been coming and going. I’m just about the only one close enough to walk there.

  14. Jobo Baldie, Thanks and a great thought but I predict a landslide, surprisingly emotional, lump in my throat, did not expect that for a vote.

  15. kitalba – overall student debt rising far more sharply in Scotland than elsewhere in UK

They don’t really “do” numbers at the Guardian. Too many arts graduates I suppose. Anyhow, we’re not so much interested in the flow as in the stock, i.e. how much debt in total are students in Scotland getting into? Are they more indebted than students in the rest of the UK (unlikely)?

Gordon Maloney, the president of NUS Scotland, said: “We will be working with the Scottish parliament to push for increased grants for the poorest students, not instead of these student loan increases, but in addition.”

I wish I was a student, then I’d know where this magic money tree is. :)

Unfortunately student debt is an inevitable consequence of sending half our school leavers into higher education, regardless of academic inclination. If we’d stuck with the old system of expecting maybe the top 5-10% of kids to go on to university, loans wouldn’t have been necessary.

But we didn’t. So, somebody has to cover the cost of all those youngsters spending four years getting drunk, partying, then graduating with pointless qualifications that make them less employable than the average brickie or barista who just stepped off a plane from Eastern Europe.

And that somebody is the students themselves. (thumbsup)

They got the bag, power has it’s benifits. Though the little people can still win, they have sent it to list property in Central station. Arghhh that’s not even on the Helensburgh line.

  17. With the referendum apparantly splitting the nation and even tearing families apart (copyright-The Metro), will the celtic support also face the same sensational outcome

will there now be a need for new unionist and independence sections inside celtic park – we have 111 for the green brigade, maybe section 222 for a pro-indpendence section and section 666 for the unionists to sing their ditties

so from section 111 will come rousing choruses (surely chori – Ed) of old ireland

from section 222 perhaps a bit of scot wha hae or maybe killiecrankie

and from section 666 a selection of favourites from last night at the proms

the players ears will be bleeding – the pie stalls mobbed with fans getting away from the racket

  18. eddieinkirkmichael

I’ll be passing central station later if that helps?

Need to get that ministerial bag back to you.

  19. There 2 unused polling cards in the house .Trying to think of how they will not be wasted. I could sell them or get some friends to use them as long as they vote the right way.
