DEMBELE’S ‘NOW-YOU-SEE-ME-NOW-YOU-DON’T’ VANISHING ACT

THE Moussa Dembele saga took a new twist this morning when the French striker turned up for training at Lennoxtown – and left 15 minutes later.

Brendan Rodgers, preparing his players for Sunday’s meeting with Steven Gerrard’s new-look Ibrox outfit, had a brief chat with the 22-year-old frontman.

Dembele went through a light routine, stretching and running, and then walked off.

The Hoops last night turned down a “significant bid” from French top-flight side Lyon for the player who joined for a £500,000 Development Fee from Fulham in the summer of 2016.

He scored 32 goals in his remarkable first campaign, 16 in his injury-hit second season and has claimed three  this time around.

Dembele and his representatives met with the club hierarchy on Wednesday for crunch talks.

He missed training and set out last night’s crucial encounter against the Lithuanian champions where the Hoops had to get a good result after last week’s 1-1 draw away from home.

In Dembele’s absence, Leigh Griffiths stepped up to the plate to score the opening goal – and his 100th for the club.

There now appears to be a stubborn stand-off between the player and the club unless something dramatic happens between now and the transfer window slamming shut at midnight.
