Demonising liquidation carries risk

990

I didn’t hear the scores of other games this weekend until today when I read a red card protest (remember the day Celtic fans gave birth to this concept?) occurred at Ibrox to demonstrate disapproval to any potential new owner who plans to liquidate Rangers.

It would be preferable to everyone if Rangers paid their bills, restoring a degree of dignity, although apparently no one is offering to do this.  Publicly bidders for the club will all confirm their preference is to exit administration via a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  Offering pennies in the pound for a company is unquestionably a great deal, for the buyer, but whoever is nominated as preferred bidder this week is likely to have a serious option to liquidate the club.

Demonising the liquidation option carries risks for Rangers fans.  Short of raising considerably more money than they have thus far and paying their bills, there is little fan power can do right now.  If liquidation is the best option for creditors it will happen, better to accept the reality of the situation.  Whatever the resulting phoenix club is called, if the new owners inherit animosity from the start it will only diminish the potential of their new club.

Brought this by Paul McConville over from previous blog. Worth a read.

I know the article by Ian Fraser which I refer to here has been linked to already, but on reading it it struck me that the demise of HBOS and the decline of Rangers share many facets.

Bearing in mind the influence of HBOS on Scottish football, there are still many questions to be asked of it, though whether any will ever be answered is a different matter!

Anyway, this piece below is fairly short. Mr Fraser’s piece is much longer, but well worth a read.

    An excuse to repost this.

What I find truly amazing about the Rangers situation is that we have one of the biggest scandals to hit Scottish football and no one is taking responsibility. Its like pass the blame parcel.

You would think that the term “EBT” stood for ” extraterrestial ballistic turd ” that had been excreted from the Gallactic sphincter, flew through space like some brown smelly comet and crashed into Ibrox.

  6. Anyone any info on Sir Minty trying to sell one of his companies? Apparently this is not being forced on him by the bank! The SS Sir Minty and SS Der Hun are flondering after hitting the icebergs named reality and Hector.

  7. Fan power at Rangers might not be able to achieve very much now but I believe that fan power at every other club could have an impact. If the representative supporters’ associations of all the clubs in the SPL agreed a statement opposing re-entry of a Newco into the SPL it would be a powerful message that, whatever the phone-ins claim, the fans oppose a privileged entry of them into the league.

A joint red card by every other team in the SPL at an agreed time would tell everyone that they can pay their tax and stay in the league or they can liquidate and come up the ranks but they can’t stay in the league and not pay their bills.

The idea of a points deduction for a Newco would leave Rangers with a legitimate claim that they hadn’t even lost their history since the league was punishing them for it when it was simultaneously being claimed that the Newco didn’t have any. Instead they could nurture a legitimate grievance while basking in the superiority complex that feeds their arrogance and bigotry. Direct entry would mean that this complex would have just received confirmation from everyone else.

I don’t want the club I support to confirm their supremacist views and I don’t want a league that says we can’t do without a club that cheats everyone else on a massive scale.

The sheer mess of their situation may or may not render such considerations irrelevant but the fans uniting across clubs will go some way to grabbing hold of the public agenda and defining exactly what the real issues are.

Nae worries, man!………who gives a flyin' +!^* how the establishment manage to get the 'establishment team' back into the top flight as rapidly as they can. We are better than them on every single level.

My granny gave me a great bit of advice : " Never dignify an insult by acknowledging it. "

If,and its a big if,they slither back, all we can do is hammer them on the pitch and mock them endlessly,in perpetutity. They are eternally & permanently disgraced in the eyes of the whole world and will never be allowed to forget it.

Would you like to be associated with such a tainted organisation?

Only if you were insane. And they are. Pity them;they are afflicted.

  10. Edward Ursus on

I posted my congratulations on here the other night and it caused some reactions I didn’t expect, for those like EDB and others I used to converse with who took the post in the spirit it was meant I would like to say thanks.

To try and answer some other replies I’d like to point out that my remark about grinding my teeth as I posted were not a serious remark, perhaps I should have used a smiley or a “lol” at the end of it but assumed people would know it was a light hearted comment.

As far as the future f Rangers goes my own opinion is that it ends this year, there will probably be a phoenix type club that replaces them but it won’t be the same club.

I am not responsible for Rangers signing policy between WW1 and Mr Johnstn nor am I responsible for the financial mismanagement and chicanery that has taken place at Ibrox in recent years so although a few folk asked I won’t apologise for either.

I had no intention of hijacking the thread with my post that wasn’t my intention in any way I gave my congratulations then left as much as I try to be sporting I didn’t want to sit and watch you all celebrate your title.

One poster (sorry can’t recall your name) mentioned a couple of times about posts I had made re the famine song and the bombing of Dresden, as these comments would have been made a few year back and I don’t remember what my words were I can’t comment but if the poster has any questions on them and reminds me of what I said I’ll be happy to retract, clarify or defend my views.

I don’t post much now as I no longer have the ame sort of idea of what goes on at Ibrox as I used to due to being heavily involved in youth and amateur football both in coaching and admin, I take in three or four games a week which doesn’t leave much time for following the senior game now, however I do still lurk when I can.

Once again conratulations on winning a deserved title. (no grinding teeth this time as I’ve worn them out :-) ;-) lol)

  11. I don’t know if anybody has already raised the following issue with Celtic regards my post below, but imo it should be high on the boards agenda in the next week or so

On the 29th April Rangers will have 7,000 fans in the away section at CP. Going by their previous behaviour in visits to Paradise and with anger growing within their support over their inevitable liquidation, vandalism in that part of the ground on the night is a certainty.

    The questions are as follows.

Who will pay for the damage when they are liquidated?

Should the club be asking the administrators for a payment upfront in lieu of the destruction caused on their previous visits?

No payment. No tickets for their support

    Other thing he mentioned.

When hmrc started all their investigations, they were trying to get ‘stuff’ on a certain scottish footy agent, they visited ipox as he was the agent for a certain French player the orcs sold for £8million. They were going through paperwork/emails at ipox& they came across an email from a certain orc chief exec, baldy, saying ‘am i the only ba*tard paying tax here?’. They thought, put that aside for later. The rest is history, as they say.

    Yes.

Simples money up front for the tickets and a refundable deposit to cover damage. Figure to be based on an average of repair costs from previous incursions by the Hun Hordes. No deposit = no tickets. I am sure given the existence precipice that the Hun cling to I doubt if there wouldn’t be anything that would block CFC from asking for such an undertaking from the Hun Administrators again it should be remembered they allegedly still owe us 40k already.

Now what about a wee moment for discussion about our rivals for next season, will it be M’well, Hibs, D Utd, the Dons or my personal favourites Greenock Morton TAL.

A ‘damages’ deposit is a must imo

I am willing to bet that the inevitable repair bill after the game on the 29th will be the highest of any visit they have made in the last decade

You know their mentality. They have nothing to lose, so will cause as much destruction as possible

Payment for tickets and damages upfront or no away fans will be allowed would be my message to them

I’m sure this is no surprise to many people on here as you have always been upfront with what you are and what you believe, unlike many others who either post to get a reaction or pretend they support Celtic.

Their absence of late has been noted and they kid no one.
