Deprioritised game ends predictably

601

Send out your B Team for an away game after losing at home and you should not be disappointed in the outcome.  The first half was as unstructured a performance as we have seen since the summer.  The pitch, which was terrible, can only take so much responsibility.

Stephen Welsh had a nervous return to the side, one of several poor passes fell short of Nir Bitton and led to the opening goal.  The second was perhaps the poorest of the many Celtic lost across both legs.  Bodo/Glimt didn’t so much break as saunter forward.  Anthony Ralston watched the ball, not the player peeling off behind him.  Nir Bitton was skin-tight to Vetlesen, but also watched the ball, and allowed his man time to cushion a shot into the net.  It was all too easy for Bodo.

Ange, you made your call, we all know this was one you deprioritised, we will all forgive you if the masterplan comes together.  Rather this than sorry tales come May.

  1. We have had players in the past who were sidelined for 2, 3, 4 months with a hamstring injury. These injuries can and do have varying degrees of severity.

There’s nothing sinister about Kyogo’s protracted absence. His injury was exacerbated by a second breakdown during his early return from his previous hamstring injury layoff. It was a gamble that didn’t pay off.

  2. Poland refuse to play Russia in the world cup and quite rightly so.

Kick Russia out and let the Ukraine though to the finals.

Scotland then play off against Poland.

Watching Southampton Norwich last night and one of the Southampton subs came on for his first appearance in 2 1/2 months because of a hamstring injury. I don’t think this long a lay-offoff is that abnormal, I remember the days of players being out for months after going down looking like they’d been taken out by a sniper, with no one else around them. That was before the days of players being taken off a rested when there was a hint of a muscular injury mind you.

Not wanting to curse things but we do seem to have cut down on these sort of injuries recently, hopefully when we’re towards the end of the season we don’t see them coming back

  4. Hamstring is anything from 2 to 3 weeks Grade 1 strain to requiring surgical repair for a rupture of the muscle.

  5. Isn’t it really simple – if you really want the sort of poster who thrives on attention to stop, stop giving them the audience they need.

Ignore them and they’ll move on somewhere else eventually.

I agree that Russia should be expelled, but would say that Poland should then go into their play-off final against the winners of Sweden v Czech Republic.

If Ukraine can’t fulfill their fixture v Scotland at Hampden, then Scotland go forward to play Wales or Austria in final.

  7. Let’s get one thing out of the way,the multiple poster is Kev J.He is not a Hun,was posting under that name for years, same tripe, but God help us,a Tim.A deranged one,but thats more to be pitied.

Something seriously wrong with the guy.

  8. Been reading a few comments from people trying to get wee sly remarks in about the Ukraine invasion, usually along the lines of”Two sides to every story”.

    Shameful posts.

  9. Full team out tomorrow that will blow Hibs away.Abada ,Gio ,Jota,Hatate Tom,Calmac.Too much for Hibs. Both full backs back in their right positions.

Have to get one right eventually,so going for 4-0.

  10. Morning Celts.

  11. Surprised,Russia have not already been thrown out of the tournament, and been told that their teams will also be banned from entering the European competitions next season.

Have to let the Russian people know that their leadership has made them not welcome in any sporting event.

  12. Many of us will remember our club taking a stand, alone at the time, saying we would not be playing against any Warsaw pact countries,in 1968.after Russia invaded Chzechezlovakia. The draw was redrawn and all Warsaw Pact countries thrown out.

    One of our proudest times.

Yes. We were drawn against Ferencvaros in the European Cup first round. USSR invaded Czechoslovakia. Celtic refused to play the Hungarians.

UEFA kicked out all the Warsaw Pact countries and conducted a new draw. Celtic faced French champions St Etienne, losing 0-2 away and winning 4-0 at home. Then it was Red Star Belgrade of Yugoslavia.

If anyone is thinking of coming can we let Big Jimmy know through these pages as he will let the manager know numbers.

It would be interesting to see the Multi monikers Kev J turn up, sit at a table talking to himself in his different monikers 1 man and 5 pints at a table, moving around each time he says something…..

    Ooooffftttt that’s me without a drink. :)

  16. My guess is PAUL67 will be delighted with multi moniker posters frequenting the blog.

Keeps his numbers up, which will keep his advertisers happy.

    Just a guess.

why are Turkish teams not thrown out for their incursions into Syria

    ——–

UK and US teams alongside quite a few other NATO allies weren’t banned after Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan etc etc Not to mention the 74 year illegal occupation of Palestine and practice of apartheid as identified by Amnesty among others – total impunity there for the guilty party.

Putin is wrong. The invasion is wrong. Multiple wrongs don’t make any right. But the hypocrisy is stomach churning.

  18. Heading out to lunch at a good Tims new house.

Great company, plenty to eat and drink and much chat about Celtic!

    —————-

There usually are many stories in these situations. Not so sure about sides. Putin is a wrong un. Absolutely no doubt about that. Yet if we do not also see that NATO policy in the last decade has in part led Putin to where he is and in part enabled him to ‘justify’ his actions we are bound to end up repeating mistakes which could lead us to even more severe consequences with a very powerful and very sane superpower further east.

It is too easy just to accept everything we are hearing as stuck on fact.

The way to stop putin is for the Russian people to stand up to him but not through the very dubious navalny types. Genuine popular opposition to putin is not really what NATO govts want. Sham Liberal puppets are the aim.

The pain of Western billionaires if the shady financial ‘regulations’ that allow Russian oligarchs and western wage thieves alike to keep their I’ll gotten gains away from the rest of us means meaningful ‘sanctions’ won’t happen. Ordinary Russian and Ukrainian and European workers will all suffer,to greater and lesser degrees instead.

We should never nor question hypocrisy.

  20. WESTCRAIGS

Who said anything about punishing Ukraine? They have closed down their football leagues. At the moment Ukraine say the the game at Hampden is still on, which is great, but a lot depends on the next few weeks.

All I said was IF they can’t fulfill the fixture. I didn’t say anything about kicking them out.

  21. lets all do the huddle on
