Deprioritised game ends predictably

601

Send out your B Team for an away game after losing at home and you should not be disappointed in the outcome.  The first half was as unstructured a performance as we have seen since the summer.  The pitch, which was terrible, can only take so much responsibility.

Stephen Welsh had a nervous return to the side, one of several poor passes fell short of Nir Bitton and led to the opening goal.  The second was perhaps the poorest of the many Celtic lost across both legs.  Bodo/Glimt didn’t so much break as saunter forward.  Anthony Ralston watched the ball, not the player peeling off behind him.  Nir Bitton was skin-tight to Vetlesen, but also watched the ball, and allowed his man time to cushion a shot into the net.  It was all too easy for Bodo.

Ange, you made your call, we all know this was one you deprioritised, we will all forgive you if the masterplan comes together.  Rather this than sorry tales come May.

it takes a lot to make a post like that. Thanks for it.

See you at CQN corner on Wednesday.

There are many other posters on here who should consider that CQN is not the place to repetitively post their political views.

Having said that, long live Ukraine!

I would like to see a bit more of James McCarthy in the team. He can be a creative player with a bit of dig which big Bitton imo does not show enough off. HH

  5. Shocking decision at the boxing. One of those English judges must be getting a pay off from the bookies. Love Taylor but that was out of order

  6. After the best result in Euro footy history, Sevco, watching their rivals get knocked out of Europe, the fact is that if we win against Hibs then the Huns are going to work on Monday with a feeling of dread and a realisation that Celtic are winning the league even if they beat Motherwell 7-0.

10 X cup finals to win the league.

    I’m 100pc sure we’re winning it

  7. 11-1 outsider in a two horse race, Catterall was never going to win that fight unless he knocked Taylor out. It’s not really shocking…it’s the norm

  8. 2 judges voted a Taylor win. Assuming the Scottish judge voted in Taylor’s favour, 1 of the English judges voted the same way. Why would he do that? He’s got to be in a bookies pocket

  9. Thing is,as well as Catterall fought, and he did, did he do enough to take 4 World Titles off Taylor? No.

Was Taylor a beaten man at the end of the fight? No. You cannot win all four titles on points. Won the first half of the fight, didn’t win the second, ergo did not do enough to be four time Champ. Tough I know.

It’s professional boxing not amateur night.

Are you saying the challenger has to KO the champion to win a fight 🤷🏻‍♂️

  11. Jeez that’s a stupid post.

I’d need to check rules again but if you can’t win multiple belts on points then why did they bother with points at the end of the fight tonight?? Surely they could’ve bypassed reading the scoring out, and just given him the win at the end.

  12. Tomorrow’s just not any fixture, there’s a lot riding on it. Sevco on a high after their commendable European exploits and we’re in recovery mode.

    Hibernian 0 – Celtic 5

  13. Just seen the ‘penalty’ that was not given in the Everton v Manchester City game – it was astounding.

    (A) I am aware of, and fully agree with, the rule which says that if a player plays the ball with another part of the body and it subsequently hits his arm/hand, than that is not deemed a penalty. This has clarity and is easily checked on VAR.

    (B) There now needs to be similar clarity on when the ball directly hits the hand/arm – a clarity that does not depend on interpretation by whoever is in charge of VAR at a particular moment in time.

    (C) The only way, in my opinion, is to make it an absolute offence(like speeding in a car) – i.e. if you touch with the ball with your arm/hand in the box, the decision should be a penalty, whether intentional, or, otherwise, except as outlined in (A).

I know it sounds harsh, but it will be harsh for everyone and that’s fair – as things stand things are not fair, as we have seen.

I remember, way ‘back in the day’, when we were right at the heart of European competition, how Italian and Spanish defenders used to defend their box with hands clasped behind their backs. There was no VAR in those days, but those savvy defenders knew the danger.

I include this for illustration only, I appreciate that defenders are not robots and will not do this all the time in the heat of action.

We apparently are on course for VAR next season -imagine the outrage if there was a repeat on today’s decision in a Celtic v *Rangers game.

  14. He has to win the fight at the end, not early doors.

He is fighting the Champion, the boxer who earned all of those titles.

I will ask again my friends, was Josh Taylor a beaten man? A beaten Man?

Like I said, it’s not amateur night folks.

    Ref Ujpest

It was later the same year ujpest beat us in round 2.

They were a strong team. Even better than Ferencvaros who we avoided 3 years earlier. Some might say deliberately using politics as the excuse.

They reached the semis that season when they beat us losing to Juventus.

The Gerry McNee book is a classic. Going back to before he became a bitter old clown.

  16. Oh by the way Celtic Mac the most entertaining fight of the night was the heavyweight fight, ridiculed but honest

  17. Celtic Mac

The English boy won the first 7 rounds. He can get lumpy the next five but if he’s standing at the final bell he’s won 7-5

How can you say Taylor retains his belts/title?

The boy won and was cheated

Had it happened the other way around I’d have been just as irate

  18. CELTIC MAC on 27TH FEBRUARY 2022 12:08 AM

You want rules, you want honesty?

    There’s a Bingo Hall waiting for you…..

Yes….rules and honesty…but if people like you are willing to accept dishonesty then it will always be….then we’re fucked
