The appointment of Neil Doncaster as chief executive of the newly formed Scottish Professional (sic) Football League was a forgone conclusion, No Surrender Longmuir was interviewed out of professional courtesy, and the clubs realised that the calibre of external candidates they would attract at the moment would be from the bottom of the corporate pile. Frankly, a heavy hitter would not apply.
Now that Doncaster is freed from his previous preoccupation – trying to parachute a new club into top flight football – he can worry about his key performance indicators, bringing commercial income into the league. If he can’t deliver a good deal, or scams a ‘Homecoming’-type deal, by pulling money already committed by a benefactor, like his pal along the corridor, we’re better off without him.

Had a game planned for 9.15am today. Mrs corkcelt had a bad reaction after some tests yesterday. Was in A&E with her from 8am to 11am. then rushed off to golf course to find a junior day had started and there were kids everywhere. Eventually walked out to the 12th hole and met my original planned 4 ball. I was so knackered at that stage, played a couple of holes and lo & behold ran into a load of kids again, I gave up at that stage. We have an outing in Dungarvan Monday, will try it out there.

You argue very eloquently for independence. I have heard all the arguments before and some of them, particularly criticism of the past, have some merit.
However I think you are all being naive around the latent anti Catholicism and sectarianism in Scotland. It is very real and not far from the surface. I’m sorry snake but I’m afraid the offensive bill is far more sinister than your are making out. It betrays a latent hatred and perhaps even more worrying an attitude of contempt for the working class in Scotland.
I will repeat what I have said in the past. I have far more in common with many folk in England than many of those in Scotland. The economic consequences are significant and cannot be underplayed and with the current powers of the scottish parliament mean we have a bulwark against the worst excesses of the Tories.
It’s is undeniably true that labour are in a bad way but that’s not forever.
I simply don’t trust Scotland and its clear I am not alone.
If you want further evidence look at the national cover up of the Hun scandal.
And you want to vote yourself to be a minority in Scotland.
I just don’t get it.
