Don’t limp home, omni-shamble contagion

696

There’s always a bit of trepidation before Celtic play a meaningless game, like they will do in Turkey tomorrow, the propensity to pick up injuries feels higher, although this is possibly not borne out by statistics.

Before Sunday the team look like they needed a break but no injuries, please.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard allegations that some or other council are controlled by, and for the benefit of, an ethnic or religious minority.  This is an old-time prejudice, up there along with allegations of criminality or the personal hygiene habits of the minority.  But like Corporation buses, they come in groups.

Anyone can report Celtic for whatever they like, and believe me, many do.  Which is a great pity, as there are real targets worthy of attention elsewhere…..  For years, while others were buying football bling, Celtic were acquiring land, all appropriately, as is their borrowing.  More importantly, they have been able to establish all of this without question. Confirmed.

Just because one club was an omni-shambles doesn’t mean any others are.  Enjoy the laugh.

  4. Disgraceful statement from the Scottosh Government.

    Utterly silent when they knew millions in social taxes were being avoided by the Huns, utterly silent when Fat Sally is dog-whistling all over the place, and then utterly supportive of the Zombie Club’s phoenixing.

    But as soon as a few utterly spurious allegations are made against Celtic, they can’t keep their mouths shut.

    A spokesman for the Scottish government said: “We are aware of these allegations and we are working with the relevant parties to help the Commission to investigate this case consistent with our role to ensure public funds in Scotland are used in compliance with EU state aid regulations.

    “The transaction between the health board and Celtic is not being investigated by the European Commission but we are also aware of it and are discussing it with the relevant parties.”

    Said it before… any Celt daft enough to vote for independence should not be surprised what happens to our club when this lot get control of all the levers of state…

    Correct me if I am wrong . I read the above as:

    i) You don`t just suspect The Board`s `agenda`; you believe it;

    ii) You have no evidence to substantiate your belief;

    iii) You have no evidence that ” many others suspect”.

    I noticed a tweet yesterday about the first issue of ‘The Shamrock’ magazine. This reminds me of the original Shamrock fanzine I wrote about in August 2009:

    Further to a recent article which appeared on CQN and reproduced from your article about The Shamrock, I was reminded of the following extract I found on at http://www.celticcollectorsclub.co.uk/shamrock.htm .

    It reminded me of the early 60s when as a young boy I used to visit my uncle John Doogan’s house in Gilmerton, Edinburgh on a Friday evening to help put the magazine together by cranking the handle on the printing machine, and by folding and stapling the pages into the green covers.

    I remember the damp pages attached to said printer, as Uncle John was sometimes finishing articles on his typewriter on the evening. He seemed to be a/the major/sole contributor to the copy.

    On a Saturday it was a train to Glasgow with my cousins, arriving at the ground with an armful of Shamrocks and Celtic pens for the faithful. I visited John’s grave in Annagry, Donegal in 2007 (he passed away in 1979). As The Shamrock was instrumental in my first attendance at Celtic matches as a young boy, the your article was cause for reminiscence – thanks.

    According to Gerry Dunbar of “Nottheview” at that time there were copies of the original issues in the Mitchell Library, but I have not had the opportunity to source them yet. “Way ahead of its time” he remarked.

    Good luck to The Shamrock magazine – I look forward to reading the ‘first’ issue.

    The Shamrock lives again !
