Haven’t read through the comments from during the game yet or those from after the game on CQN yet. I have seen a lot of comments on other social media. Many saying that yesterday’s performance was shocking, typically followed by “we should have scored more”.
My take is that the PERFORMANCE is not intrinsically linked to the winning margin. Of course we should have scored more with all that possession and shots off and on target.
The first half I thought we were terrific at switching play from one side to the other through BItton, Julienne and Christie. And it was just what I thought was required to try and break down a really well organised, enthusiastic and athletic defence.
Next tactic was to have pot shots from distance, unfortunately we skied them well over too many times.
Then we went for some sharp passes straight through the middle. Broke the press a few times and led to chances to get in about them.
Then we moved players about to try and disrupt the tight defence.
Eventually we got the breakthrough. No more than we deserved.
PERFORMANCE wise I agree with NFL, we were really good mostly. A few players were below their normal level, Eddie and Calumn most notable due to the high levels they set.
Keeper continues to impress with his concentration when there is so little to do for long periods of the game.

Two awful teams in a week (Rejkavik and DUFC) are clouding a lot of judgement on here about the frailties of the team. The ‘sign of champions’ answer, ‘win when not playing well’ trope will only get us so far (lots of weeks in a poor Scottish level) but we aren’t addressing issues that better teams (and the Hungarians, like a Cluj and Copenhagen) could see it unravel.
– Taylor is an SPFL level defender. Good squad player but should have been replaced even before Boligate.
– Eddie is isolated as a 1.
– A No. 10 and Eddie relationship has not been established.
– CM is wide open with an aging Brown unable to catch faster, fitter opponents when pressed, Callum not being used properly and Ntcham crowding the space.
– A system that gets the best out of the players (Forrest as a LW, Christie as a RW, Moi cutting inside).
– No proper No. 10 established (Moi’s best position probably but we are lost without a TR type).
– Frimpong isn’t a defender.
Barkas looks good and Big Tam is a baller at RB but feels like we are weeks behind in preparation for that lottery that is ECL qualification. Why is that important? – Without it we are likely to have to sell Eddie and weaken other objectives for the season.
If I was the Ferencavos coach, I’d be licking my lips for Wednesday. I clearly hope we have enough to beat them but we are piling up the risk factor with such low margins at stake.

I think that there has been some harsh criticism of Taylor. He is not KT, nor, the finished article, however in my opinion he has certainly come on since last season. He is being coached & is learning to be a Celtic player – a big difference to being a Kilmarnock player.
On Scott Brown – being older it is to be expected that his top performance will shade a little. He is still well capable for the Scottish game. Will he lead us to 10iar? That depends on his teammates wanting it enough….and, let’s be honest, on the four Sevco games.
There will be another five, or, six away games similar to yesterday – results are more important than performances this year. I would only say that continually playing in front of eleven behind the ball is so frustrating – let’s mix it up by missing out the midfield on occasion, get them turning, push up & attack the second ball.
I’m not advocating lumping it forward all the time – but let’s mix it up.

You do like referencing the Cluj debacle (and quite rightly so) I still think it was to “shoehorn” Ntcham into the starting 11 after his performance at Fir Park, but you do realise we topped our Europa league table which contained the Cluj team … by the way Cluj needed a 98th minute goal to get a 2-0 victory away in Malta last week … or do you think we should win 9-0 just because Dundee Utd have far less money than Celtic … surely sport should be about enjoyment and the not knowing if you will win ? By the way I thought Ntcham (against Dundee Utd) didn’t grasp his chance … but far too early in the season to judge for me :-)

Just heard on BBC(evco) that Ross McCrorie can’t play against the Gers this season ??? I thought the dandy dons had signed the boy … are the Govan mob still making the rules up as they trundle along … I could understand if it was a loan deal ??
Tried to check this- seems like it has been constructed as a season long loan deal with an OBLIGATION (instead of an option) to buy at the end of this term- very unusual way to structure a deal.
It would look like Sevco were hapy to see the boy go but did not want him to cause them any damage, and McInnes seems desperate enough for players to agree to this.

I don’t think my accounting for it has removed the dubiety from the deal. I cannot think it is entirely legal to own a player and not be able to play him against a team, and I have never heard of a loan deal with an Obligation to buy- does anyone else know if this is common or legal?
