Not insinuating anything .. maybe it’s my words that attract you :-)

It’s certainly not my good looks

    Jinkyredstar

The “referring” today was not balanced and I don’t think it will get any better between now and May/June

  2. GFTB – agreed – we need to take the Refs out of the equation- 3 goals do that.

    All the best

It’s going to be a long season … hopefully we will prevail

Surely the good guys should always win

Roll on Wednesday .. winning can be a habit

    Hail Hail

    & good night fellow Celts

    You wrote…

‘Going to the games in the 80s & 90s have gave me a terrific grounding’

Perhaps you are being a little unkind to the 1980s considering by league championships we were Scotlands most dominant team.

A lot of misty eyed views of history [generally by the BBC] about the ‘new firm’ dominance in that decade when the truth is they dominated Rangers only [not Celtic].

But yes the 1990s were pretty horrible for most of us.

  5. Watching Inter Miami v Orlando, Morgan demonstrating just why we were happy to let him go. Inter started well, one up after 12 minutes, but all the good play down the left and centre, whenever he gets the ball, he either crosses to nowhere or gets shoved off the ball.

Just as i type, shocking defending from the Beckham Babes makes it one each…

  6. MM – have to say I haven’t missed your hard to read drivel in your absence. Wherever you were, maybe consider going back?

  7. A recurring theme from tonight’s posts is we played badly.

Are the stats wrong in possession, shots, corners?

Did Barkas have time enough to read the Celtic View?

Was our defence under any great pressure? 1 United shot on target would suggest otherwise.

What was missing was some accuracy and sharpness in front of goal.

That will improve as the season unfolds.

A partner for Eddie upfront will change the complexion and bring goals, fewer honest mistakes and much less hand wringing on CQN.

And it’s a good night from me.

    Stick to politics.

  9. We did not play as well as we can but its early season. There wasn’t much wrong with the shape, there was ample room to play but we didnt show enough quality in the final third. Taylor and Elyonoussi struggled to penetrate on the left despite having space, the latter always looking to drive inside and the former lacking the physical and technical attributes to beat his direct opponent. Christie lacked composure at times and the midfield 3 combination of Brown, Cal and Ntcham was off sync. Defensively we were fine and our new keeper was largely untroubled.

I was impressed with Ajeti, his goal yes but the back header to keep the ball alive was quality. He also held the ball up and back heeled one for Frimpong which showed strength. He also spoke very well after the game. I like him.

We need more reps. We seemed to lack sharpness and fluidity. Not sure if this was a fitness issue or we were inhibited by being 9 points behind. You feel like someone is missing. maybe Ajeti is just that.

Pretty sure our win ratio in the 80s & 90s was way below what is these days ..

By the way don’t take my posts too serious they are often incorrect … and entirely based on my bad memory :-) although 1980, 1985, 1988 & 1989 were great cup final victories and fling in 1995 Airdrie game … but we were nowhere near as successful as these days … that was my initial point … when we “draw” a game these days, I think a lot of punters overreact … that’s what I was trying to post :-)

Noticed this morning, the UEFA referee categories for the first half of season 2020-2021 were issued last week.

    Congratulations due to Nick Walsh, promoted from Cat3 to Cat2. Our current lot are;

    Elite Collum

    Cat1 Beaton, Madden

    Cat2 Clancy, Robertson, Walsh

    Cat3 Munro

Of course, Scotland’s champions continue to have non UEFA rated referees appointed to our games. Of the seven Premiership matches played between Thursday and today, only three of the seven above were given a whistle. We can expect to see more of Dallas, Muir, Mclean, Roncone etc.

  12. BBC site`s opening line:

`Substitute Albian Ajeti spared Celtic from another early-season title setback `

Their Headline had already claimed that we Ajeti `rescued`us !!!!!

We had ten times as many shots as our opponents !

    Absolutely dreadful reporting.

  13. Good morning from a brightening north staffs. Still can’t understand how Neil can describe yesterdays performance as terrific. However on watching the highlights we were probably not as bad as first thought. Credit needs to be given to DU who were up for the challenge and Dallas did his old man proud.

  14. I may be wrong but I think Callum is playing a bit deeper this season – almost covering for Broonie at times

  15. D17

Got to dsagree with comment, not much wrong with our shape

What was our shape for the first 65 mins ???

    I struggled to see any

Who was playing left wing, Taylor or Elyanousi

Who was playing right wing, Christie or Frimpong ?

Who was playing the No10 role ? Christie, Ntcham or McGregor ?

Only when Ajeti & Ajer came on, did we have a shape

Mind not sure whether Ajer came on as right if left side of the 3 mhan defence 😂

This one doesn’t matter, we won the game, when we went 2 up front against an 8 man defence, with a referee assisting

    3pts is the crucial factor

    Hail Hail

  16. SID and GFTB at the risk of getting between two brawlers having fun it’s been a while since I have seen handbags on here and to be honest it never ends well. Two good Celts having a go at each other, taking bites out of each other, does you both harm. In the end you will both stay away from here because it has done your heid in, and the blog will be a lesser place. I have seen too many duels go the distance on here, none ever end up in a good space. So ignore each other or agree to differ and stay on her for the ten. Hail Hail

  17. Good morning cqn from a rather grey skied but dry Garngad

Another vital 3 points in the bag, I think our balance was somewhat out yesterday.

    Anyway we move onto Tuesday

I see poor wee alfredo did not show up yesterday at ipox after a spat with slippy G on Friday— oh the banter years

    They have created a munster

    D :)

  18. Taurangabhoy – I dont agree with you on that jast post.😂

Kidding – of course you are spot on

May I ask what your moniker means? I love looking at posters monikors and thinking if they stay in far flung exotic places.

  19. Taurangabhoy 8.34am

Cheers … but honestly it’s never that serious … I don’t mind any “jousting” as long as we all stay within the rules (especially me :-)

A new day, a new article we move on, much prefer two Celtic fans disagreeing over Celtic stuff than a lot of the other “arguements”

Hopefully we all stay here for the 10 :-)

  20. My friends in Celtic,

Reading back. Imo watching Celtic play and subsequent discussion is mega important. It is a constant in our lives and given current circumstances is more important than ever.

Are Celtic prioritising the CL. ? Will we see a much improved performance against Ferenovaros? I think so.

Just what is the end game for Covid 19 ? For football and society in general this is the definitive question. We cannot lockdown and hide away indefinitely. Considering it took 25 years to get a credible chicken pox vaccine, a vaccine solution might be years away.

The much vaunted flu vaccine is only about 40 to 60 % effective. Do we also compel people to take vaccines.?

We have been warned, Covid 19 could be with us indefinitely. To reitterate, what is the end game.?

Our custodians will recognise this and NFL will be acutely aware of the necessity of CL money.

From a personal perspective, I did not take a refund and I renewed early doors. If we get circa 5,000 at Paradise I will get to approximately 1 game in 11.( Providing I’m able to attend )

How many ST holders will renew next season under these circumstances? Our income will be devastated.

Under these conditions and the uncertainty, CL football and associated money must be our overriding priority, even over the 10 unfortunately.

I expect to see a much improved performance on Wednesday night. So much is at stake.

Football needs to know the end game, I have my own thoughts and opinions what needs to happen going forward.

HH to all, the journey continues.

  21. The enforced break means we are ring rusty , probably take another 3 to 4 weeks to find our feet. Always affects the front guys more … good news opposition is also ring rusty as well …

Hardly any deaths for weeks now . Very few in hospital .

Most of the new cases dont even know they have anything.

The way forward is obvious . Get back to normal living asp!

    ###

The reason there are so few cases is precisely because of the measures that have been taken.

Normal living = exponential growth in the rate of transmission = heavy viral loads for those infected= serious condition apparently with a variety long term serious side effects for some survivors.

    And increased deaths.

Answer? Patience and perseverance until understanding and treatments improve or an effective vaccine is available.

Shut the pubs but proceed with a gradual easing in other areas, maintain physical distancing as much as possible, and continue with the basic personal hygiene.

  24. DAVID66 been on here since just after it started. The music man Pablo made me welcome and it kept me connected to my Celtic family. Still does. Been in NZ for over thirty years. Managed to get home for a couple, my cuz gave me a season book and I went to Seville with the shawlands shamrock. Know a few Bhoys in Tauranga and we enjoy the banter years big time. Death by a thousand cuts for the buns, you couldnay make it up haha. Was supposed to be home this month. Maybe next year. Enjoyed watching you connect with big jimmy. All the birds will just need to wait until he gets well. Hail Hail.

  25. Bhoyjoebelfast on

Watched the game, much relieved when goal came and three points secured. It was by no means a comfortable win,but a win nonetheless.Barkas had to deal with one effort, and that summed up the Arabs contribution,as we continued to press against a well prepared defensive outfit, and a keeper who had a very good game. The corners from RC fell short on more than one occasion, and OE tried hard but with two, three players around you, proved a hard task indeed. On this showing will DU continue to play with the same tactics as they applied yesterday,in future games,we will find out in due course. The referee’s performance was poor, much more to follow as the season progresses,I would imagine. As I stated earlier, not a comfy win,but 3 points in the bag, and as a former game show host would remind us….POINTS WIN PRIZES.Onwards to our next outing and a victory,to bring cheer to our fans, and to heap misery upon those who richly deserve it.

  26. I was wondering about how you would pick one thousand spectators for next week v Motherwell. Can’t see too many in the Main stand as substitutes and staff from both teams using lower tier to social distance and press / tv also seem to use that . So maybe 100 main stand 250 jock stein and Lisbon Lions and 400 East Stand , Do you open top tier ? How many Stewards do you need for that number, food outlets won’t be open , Toilets will be three in at any one time possibly with stewards monitoring, a very difficult situation to keep fair , the lounges won’t be open and masks to be worn at all times. I’m glad it’s not me making the decision who goes and who doesn’t, do you look at the data base and remove over 60,s for instance.HH

  27. David66, I’ll answer for Taurangabhoy, as he might be an early to bed type on a New Zealand Sunday night.

Tauranga is a beautiful place on the east coast of the north island in New Zealand. I stayed at there at mount mauganui around 10 years ago. What a place, with amazing beaches and scenery. If we ever get out if lockdown, I’d love to go back.

No point in repeating what’s already been said on yesterday’s game. However, our throw ins, free kicks and corner kicks are woeful. Looking forward to two home games. Get them won, recruit what we need and let’s go (S.G).
