Dunfermline statement on Rangers

1133

This evening’s announcement by Dunfermline Athletic that they no longer expect to receive timely receipt of the £80,000 ticket money Rangers FC PLC (in administration) owe them will heighten concerns at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who have a stock at tickets with Rangers right now, money for which will be received by the administrators in advance of their game later this month.

The administrators have yet to decide whether to retain high-earning players or make more funds available for existing creditors, and future creditors, like Inverness.  As ticket sales for the Inverness game are on-going, the administrators will need to be aware of their legal position before retaining a premium squad.

One final push (this week) for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. We have a Celtic top signed by the first team squad available to auction on eBay. You can bid on the auction and help send Vanessa for the treatment she needs by clicking here. Thanks to Penfold for the donation and to Taggsybhoy for organising (yet again).

Thanks – so he was integral to the Scottish Protestant reponse to the succesful Irish upstarts.

It was always going to be some club that adopted “the opposite” mantle.

    If not Rangers, would’ve been Thirds/Queens Park/Dumbarton/Hearts etc…..

But I guess Primrose & Struth stepped in and formed the policy…..

Makes you wonder in the case of a total Third Lanark type demise for them (highly unlikely albeit), would any club try and court the bigots…..

  3. one wee question. if whyte was telling the truth about stopping ebts, did he change alll player contracts and renegotiate? If so salary costs would have gone up.

  4. Didnt hear McFall earlier but maybe he has a cunning plan they they avoid insolvency but are ham-strung for years to come by an agreement to pay HMRC what they owe – £5m a year for the next 15 years would be a good start

Insolvency would be hilarious but, sadly, not terminal as they would allowed to bounce back in some shape or form, more than likely in the top league. They would do so with little credibility and unable to play in Europe for three years but also with no debt.

An instalment plan would allow them to play in Europe but would be predicated on two assumptions, a) that they escaped administration and publish accounts by the end of March (surely unlikely) and b) that they get into the top three or win something next season (increasingly unlikely!)

Although an instalment plan would mean the taxpayer – i.e. you and I – gets back what it is due, i’m still leaning towards the death by liquidation!

We have learned many things over the past few months about ourselves and them. And as someone posted earlier we are seeing many true colours exposed. Watch carefully, take note and remember who said what.

The most important thing I’ve learned is never over estimate the intelligence of the average rangers fan. The second most important thing I’ve learned is that they have no shame or any sense of responsibility.

I thought I knew these things before they went into administration, but I realise now that I was subconsciously diluting the belief with my natural propensity of giving anyone the benefit of the doubt and I didn’t fully believe it.

Not anymore. I actually feel unwell listening to their idiotic drivel now.

AND The totally discredited media rallying around a bunch of half-wit used car salesman caught selling stolen vehicles, to save them from jail, so that an incoherent swarm of delinquent nobodies can urinate all over Scotland and anywhere unfortunate enough to have them as guests. This is sport?

But apart from that, they’re harmless enough. :)

  10. Just back from seeing Lord McFall on Newsnight: he may be a good guy, but he’s obviously out of his depth.

Nakagod, I don’t know how to message via CQN: you can e-mail me on gillansinverness@aol.com.

Ernie Lynch, you’re quite entitled to want to keep nasty, sectarian Scotland in the UK (tho’ you should ask yourself how we got that way!): you shouldn’t misuse this Celtic blog as a Labour Party one.

  11. McFall was totally incoherent there.

The impression I got of him through the banking crisis is that he likes the sound of his own voice too much.

Maybe it’s time to give Michael Kelly another run out. I think he’d get our point over.

have you ever had an original thought che?

  13. McFall didn’t come across well there. He was much better earlier on. Was he got at ? His ” hold hands” comment had me scratching my heid. Had he said watch them like a hawk I would have understood.

Watching the other side I think it’s obvious that Stevens and that rotund guy think that liquidation is on its way.

Anyone else think that the 2 Administrators are nothing more than Murray’s puppet’s puppets ?

  14. Why did we not hear of any of this crap when Celtic where in dire straights?

Set a precedent if they are allowed but would strenthen our case to say we are playing in a league in a country where one rule for one tean and anther for other teams.

  15. ernie

Going on recent outings, Kelly would tie them in knots.

They don’t want to hear what he’ll have to say.

Ever wonder why England and Wales aren’t nasty and sectarian?

I know why and how Scotland got this way. And the SNP are part of the cause, not part of the solution.

I am not, and never have been, a member of the Labour Party.

  19. BlantyreKev - Parcel=> on

I thought Dark Mingwall’s comments on rangers being wherever the fans are were the clearest indication so far that liquidation is now accepted. The consortium idea is not to buy out of administration, its to start from scratch. Shafting the tax man is what they all want to do so why point fingers at brother craig for doing the same thing?

They have no shame. Disgusting, horrible people.

Trevor Steven’s expression was hilarious when she suggested ex players contribute to the buy out!

No Doubt Alex Salmond was very happy with Rangers performance in Manchester… “Yes, the most important thing here is that they do pay for the damage done….. but over time, perhaps they can come to a negotiation with the Manchester public,,,,, and they could perhaps invite them to come up to Ibrox at the appropriate time to have a wee party, just like the Rangers fan did”

I would suggest that time is now

  24. Paul67,

Was i on to something monthst ago when i mentioned digging back to 9 in a row. I seem to remember Steven scorin a the winner at Tannadice to clinch league i think.

The cardigam will be getting worried if this is indeed correct and HRMC are digging back.
