This evening’s announcement by Dunfermline Athletic that they no longer expect to receive timely receipt of the £80,000 ticket money Rangers FC PLC (in administration) owe them will heighten concerns at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who have a stock at tickets with Rangers right now, money for which will be received by the administrators in advance of their game later this month.
The administrators have yet to decide whether to retain high-earning players or make more funds available for existing creditors, and future creditors, like Inverness. As ticket sales for the Inverness game are on-going, the administrators will need to be aware of their legal position before retaining a premium squad.

Also regards the clubs owed money the sanctions are simple:
Scottish Cup outstanding money – Banned from next years competition.
SPL outstanding money – points deductions.
Guys I have been listening to all these so called ex rangers players who would all love to see their beloved club being saved they canny go captain theyre an institution breaks your heart so it does anyway heres a suggestion hows about them giving back the part payment ebts money they were given over the years dont want to cant see why they should didnt think they would anyway my point is caller if your one of the sinners get off the radio tv etc oh and dont forget the reporters who dined at murrays table they are just as guilty send them all down the krapper

Football is Scotland’s national game and for one of its biggest clubs to be in such difficulty has an impact right across our city and indeed, the rest of the country. Without doubt, there are serious questions to be asked about how Rangers have found themselves in this position in the first place.
However, I am absolutely clear that Rangers Football Club is not above the law and the HMRC has a duty to ensure that the club meet their tax obligations just like every other football club, business or individual.
I have called for the HMRC to ensure that they focus on the best outcome for both the club and taxpayer. The HMRC should consider all options to keep the club functioning, purely on the basis that the best way for the club to pay back all the money that they owe is probably through continuing to operate. We should keep in mind that there are a number of other clubs – including Dundee United and Hearts – that are also owed money, as are a number of other businesses based in Glasgow. If there is no income coming in to Rangers Football Club, it is less likely that the tax payer and other creditors will be able to reclaim all of their money back.
In the coming weeks, the corporate governance at Rangers Football Club will continue to be the focus of much debate. This crisis did not occur in the last year, but appears to have been the cumulative effect of poor management of the club’s finances over quite some time. These individuals responsible will have to account first and foremost to the fans of the club, many of whom will be deeply concerned about the dramatic developments in the last week.

I think we need to be careful what we wish for. My understanding is that the worst option would be for liquidation at rangers, that would allow rangers newco to be established. The new team would probably get back into spl and also be debt free.

But it will not be Rangers. It will be a new team no history – NADA.
I am fully expecting an immediate announcement from Salmond to the effect that he will shortly nationalise two teams, one each from our largest cities.
This will be done for the sake of the economy, Scottish football and the continuation of fine traditions.
Oh and being a national asset, both sides will automatically start each season with a ten point lead.

Sorry, but you are wrong. Newco parachuting into the SPL is not a viable option. Apart from the fact that HMRC can, and would, intervene against such an entity, you assume that Celtic would sit back and let that happen. You also assume that the Celtic support would permit such an eventuality. Hugh Keevins assumes that we are all liars when we state our desire for a Scotland free of rangers fc plc (in administration);)
All those assumptions are, I strongly suspect, misguided. Have some dessert and calm doon. I recommend jelly and ice cream.

The best possible outcome for Celtic would be rangers having to pay what they owe. I’d much prefer this to a newco scenario, 3rd division or otherwise.

I would agree to £10M per year for the next 15 years or so. That should cover what they owe plus interest.
But
They stay in administration until every penny is paid off. And that means starting every season on -10 points. No European football either.

At least she has responded. I’ve still to get any kind of acknowledgement from Sports Minister Shona Robinson whom I contacted yesterday.
Ms Curran is also now saying what Salmond was saying earlier – the tax must be paid back. Let’s see. Let’s hope. I have my doubts.

On the TFOD money hunt – interesting very interesting.
Very little money coming in – £300-400K – plus pies.
Then nothing apart from 3K ICT tickets for two weeks.
Hertz should be good for travelling support and a WATP fest.
However 35K season tickets are already sold and that limits the potential gate money.
CW said that the TFOD outgoings are £3.5mill per month.
Consequently the money balance isn’t looking good.

A CVA would normally be less than 10% in the pound so at most 10M paid off at a couple of million a year over 5 years. The big prob they have is that Hector is unlikely to accept a CVA which means that Ibrox and MP will be sold.

I think Alex Salmond has to be carefull he must support HMRC and not Rangers he must remember the 9 million that has not been paid to the revenue was deducted from the employees salaries and they were not aware until this week that it had not been past on to the revenue this to me is fraudulent.We also are awaiting the result of the tax case against Rangers brought by HMRC and could end up with Rangers oweing a further 49 Million plus to the revenue now they we have to remember are two different cases involving two different chairmen but in both cases its the public purse which has suffered.Mr.Salmond cannot pander to non taxpayers as it will ruin any credabiloty he has built up about his credentials to run an Independent Scotland and many voters will be lost if he does not understand this.Now both Sir David Murray and also Craig Whyte appear to have cheated there own employees and put the jobs of many of them at risk so Mr Salmond you cannot expect the Scottish voter to feel any sorrow and to dig into his or her pocket to dig out this company who have treared the tax man and its own employees with disdain.H.H.

Ghuys, I wouldn’t be too concerned by the hot air of these politicians. These people are professional windbags. All they are doing is trying to appeal to the hun vote by pretending that they are concerned. Read what they are saying – give rangers a realistic payment plan, but still they must pay their taxes.
Personally I’d fully support that approach – that way they’s have to pay back every penny, and we will win the league and every old firm game until 2112!
To hear clyde punting paul murray as the next knight in shining armour (yaaawn…) is simply hilarious. He is one of the eejits who got them into this mess, so go on huns, kid yourselves on that everything’s going to be OK. There are rules which take precedence over the SFAAnd SPL, Thank God! Any Newco would be open to legal challenge. If the SFA issued a licence to play, anybody else in the country from St Roch’s to any of the others who have applied and failed to gain membership could pursue an action, if nowt else, based upon EU restrictive practise regulations…

It’s not the first time that Salmond has defended cheats (& I speak from personal knowledge). However, this has less than nothing to do with Scottish Independence: firstly, it’s not happening in independent Scotland but in the UK & secondly, Salmond has delayed Independence, not advanced it – in spite of which, he’s smarter than anyone in the other parties.
