Easter Road, by some margin Celtic’s toughest venue

62

If there’s a nervousness about you today but you cannot figure out why, it may be because you are subliminally affected by the prospect of tomorrow’s visit to Easter Road.  Celtic’s last eight visits there have produced only two wins – the critical Scottish Cup victory in Neil Lennon’s first week back in the job, and a 4-0 win in January 2014.

We lost three and drew three of the other games.  Despite Hibs variable form, Easter Road is by some margin our most unsuccessful venue in recent seasons.

Past form is only an indicator of future results and Celtic are flying right now.  Hibs will be buoyed by their penalty kick success over Kilmarnock on Thursday, but their most important activity since will be inactivity, as they try to recover from 120 minutes football.

As during Wednesday’s win over Partick Thistle, the hard work will need to be done early on to take the adrenaline out of our opponents, but expect a solid away win, especially if Olivier pings a few in from around Shotts.

  1. Looking ahead (as this was being discussed on the last thread) our game before the league cup semi final weekend is on the Wednesday, at home to St Mirren in the league. The following midweek we travel to Lazio on the Thursday. Given the chice (not sure that we were) then he Saurday evening option works for me.

  2. Park Road I think that, with most things legal involving Sevco, this will roll al g the road with the rest of the tumbleweed.

  3. Rangers have an away league match at Ross County on the Wednesday and a home Europa game on the Thursday. Sunday give them a little more time to recover from the late night journey back.

Saturday for us gives us more time to prepare for travelling to an away tie on the Wednesday to play on Thursday.

This was the sensible decision for everyone.

    Good shout.

But Easter Rd is a Celtic happy hunting ground and this is a new Celtic, not the tired third season team.

Hope Sinky has done enough to feature along with our array of full backs, and hungry fringe men.

  5. JINKYREDSTAR

Aye every chance mhate just hope it’s as big a cash blow as possible ! It looks as if they’re pocketing the cash from the ” legends ” charity game against Liverpool too !!

  6. Hello again all you young rebels.

Can’t wait for the game tomorrow night, had mega probs with CTV since

they started blocking thingys but after many frustrating calls to them and

had techno savvy specialists looking at my ipad ( grandkids ) it seems i

had to download Mojave or something because my comp. is 7 years old

    ffs.

Anyways, it’s done now so bring it on.

Just watched the media interview with BoliBoli there and those lickspittles

are hurtin so bad, those questions everyone loaded, but yir mhan handled

them superbly, well done son your learning fast.

Right… time for a wee rid biddy … and maybe a look at past legends on

utube, now is it Jinky first? or maybe Henke? think Henke, maybe suit the

princess, i’m sure she fancied him 8-))

Report is emerging that Jozo is out for up to 4 months.

    ___

Just as well Frimpong is here.

We can have Elhamed backing up Ajer & Julien.

  8. Still think Jozo is a commanding centre back when fit, will this

op bring him back to his best, lets wait patiently and see.

    H.H . Mick

  9. Jozo is contracted til 2021 and its unlikely anybody else will try and sign him before then due to his injury record.

Mick is right we should wait and see

  10. Based off NL’s comments I believe the team tomorrow will be

Forster, Elhamed, Julien, Ajer, Boli, Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Christie, Elyounoussi, Edouard

    Subs:

Gordon, Taylor, Bauer, Ntcham, Rogic, Bayo

  11. I like Jozo and would love to see him at his best but his appearance record is 50% at best over 4 seasons which is not good enough. We can’t build a stable defense around him.

By the end of this season, he will have one year to run on his contract and I expect we will be happy to get £2m for him.

    __

You wouldn’t get anything near 2 million for a guy with one year left on his deal and an injury record like his.

Can you imagine the risk in giving Jozo a 3 to 4 year contract? Add two million to the front end of that.

Jozo is here til his deal runs out.

  13. Hopefully Jozo will get fit and finish his career at Celtic and maybe when

Kenny Miller has landed the drug mule will be put high in the air.

Oh wait ! what am i saying.. he’s always high in the feckin air lol.

  14. I think N’tcham will play. 2 great goals against Thistle. He is a class act when he turns it on. Easter Road Atmosphere will suit him.

    Foster

    Bauer Elhammed Ajer Bolingoli

    Brown McGregor

Agree, don’t think Neil will leave out Ollie, wether it’s because he’s

bang on form or wether it’s shop window time i think he’ll play.

  16. It is with a heavy heart that I must inform cqn that Lynsey Sharp has just been papped oot the World Athletics Championships,

  17. COJ

Saw that, I believe there will be a minute’s silence at ipox tomorrow.

Although I think the SFA will be appealing the result

  18. Weekender and Mountain Hunter e/w forecast worth a punt now at Newmarket if your very quick on the draw.

  19. Just a thought for you all…

Celtic currently trail Rangers (RIP) for overall trophy wins across the main 3 domestic trophies by 7. We have 107 and they have 114.

We’re chasing 10 in a row. We are chasing down their league titles wins (only 4 behind).

We have a European Cup, then we will have 10 in a row and then we will be taking their “most successful team” from them.

How much do you want to bet that the “award Rangers the 2nd World War titles” will pick up steam again? I wouldn’t be surprised if the SFA did it.

  21. Just seen this touching comment on the plight of poor Bury FC from a sevconian on FF:

“Its terrible for their fans and the town but they couldn’t just stick them back in unfortunately.”

Aye, cos you can really only get away with nonsense like that in Scotland!

Rangers first team players, all had secondary occupations during the war. Like the majority of their support hid doon the Govan shipyards toilets whilst the men where away at the Front doing the fighting. They don’t even deserve the tile “der Hun. At least der Hun put on a uniform.
