Edinburgh again, Ticket Office Blues

635

While Celtic are in the middle of a month with six home games, we face Hearts on Sunday on their eighth consecutive home game and tenth game on the trot in Edinburgh. Runs of games like this do you no favours in the long run, but they provide pockets or benefit.

Training schedules for Hearts have been perfect during this period, without needing to factor in a trip to Dingwall, for example. Game plans will have been consistent and clear. There will be modifications for the visit of the champions, but we will face a team who are as ready as they could be for the challenge.

This letter from the Ticket Office:

Like many of you, I have several season tickets in my wallet right now. They are not always used by the named person (Martin42 has been unable to use his ticket since August (!) due to injury).

I have not been in touch with the club, so can only wonder what “the Celtic Ticket Office is not obliged to provide information about the named Season Ticket Holder to any third party” could be about. It is an obscure reference, as is “in all cases relating to Season Tickets photo ID is required”.

Letters like this are never produced purely to irritate, there will be an issue to be addressed. It will not be a mean-spirited attempt to stop you taking a friend to the occasional game – which we all do.

But if the issue is serious enough to write to all season ticket holders: explain, explain, explain.  It’s not just the perma-rage-against-the-man-types (you don’t know who you are, so don’t bother wondering) who are troubled by this, some will be reluctant in future to invite a friend along to Celtic Park on a spare ticket.

Lessons learned, I’m sure.

  1. Hi Bhoys

Dunno if I missed any updates but does anyone have any info on Liam Miller?

    KEEP THE FAITH

  2. Sheep v spare ribs – hard to call. But one of those games that underlines why 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will be impossible to call. These teams will all take points off each other. Maybe it will be the team that beats the best of the rest most often who will prevail. Or the one who is best able to add to their squad and not lose any of their better players in January.

This will seem like a good weekend for the sevvies if they win today. They’ll have delusions of grandeur. The crash back to earth the next time they are humped will be all the more delicious!

  3. Jimbo67 – nice post on TB, Hibs and McGinn. Like your style.

On mcginn – I haven’t seen enough of him to pass judgement but what I would say is that Broonie took a good while to become what he is now. In fact two years ago a lot of us, including me, thought he’d lost whatever he had. Getting young players like mcginn comes with a requirement for patience. The young Scots guys even more so because they are often the ones who are with us for the long haul.

And you’re right – there is no need to go looking for people to hate.

    Have a good day!

  4. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

I would like to offer my condolocences to Imatim on your loss.

May their soul rest in peace.

Mike in Toronto , my thoughts are with you following Derry’s death. Hopefully , when the time is right , I hope you get another dog who makes as big an impact on as Derry did.

Roberttressell, terrific post with very valid points about John McGinn and his possibe development if we sign him.

  5. Standing at Easter Road on the Wednesday after we’d lost the League Cup Final to Raith Rovers the previous Sunday, our Manager came into the crowd before the game started to apologise.

He felt he let us down .

He could never let us down

Happy birthday Tommy , The Bhoy from The Calton

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Tommy , like Sean Fallon, Danny McGrain and Big Billy, was the epitome of Celtic to me.

When Tommy passed away , most importantly for his family, they lost their leading light and less importantly, we lost our biggest club man.

    Thanks for your reply.

So best not to reply to insensitive posts in case they get deleted and you get deleted too, as a result?

    I’m catching on…………I think.

  12. Good play by GMS led to a goal for the Dons against the run of play. He, GMS, was earlier fouled in the most obvious manner but the ref ( is it Madhun?) somehow felt it was a fair challenge !

  13. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Hot Smoked, Madhun showed his knowledge of football rules with not awarding a foul when Bartley hit Gary.

If I was paranoid about my paranoia and Bartley fouled say McLean , would he have awarded the foul ?

  14. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Hot Smoked , I would agree with that.

Ryan Christie and Gary Mackay-Steven have been the best two players on the pitch.

Ryan has made a number of fine passes and runs.

  15. mike in toronto on

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. Really means a lot to me. You’re a good bunch!

Torontony… thanks, mate! If you are around over the holidays, it would be great to catch up.

SOAL … happy birthday, young fella! :)
