Edouard objectives, the road to Milan

155

It was only Azerbaijan, but Odsonne Edouard made another big impression on those watching the conveyor belt of French talent in their under-21 game last night.  He has now scored six in three under-21 games, which is the kind of form that would take him beyond Celtic’s reach were he not already at the club.

The objective should be to hold him for another year.  Beyond that seems unrealistically optimistic.

Cycle Glasgow to Milan – 23April to 6 May 2020

On 6 May 1970 the famous Glasgow Celtic played Feyenoord in the final of the European Cup in Milan.  Sadly, the heroic victory in Lisbon in 1967 could net be repeated against a team who were part of the golden era of Dutch football.

In 2017, our own Mouldy67 organised a group of 30 Celtic supporters for a cycle trip from Glasgow to Lisbon.  They arrived at their destination in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our first European Cup Final, while raising an incredible £85k for charity.

A bit like the Lions, one European Cup Final was not enough, so the cyclists are back, planning to travel from Glasgow to Milan to commemorate our second Final, in order to raise funds for the Celtic FC Foundation.

The route goes through Antwerp, Flanders, Brussels, Champagne, Dijon, and Turin before reaching Milan.  It is a professionally run event, planned by Greenrock, an experienced events agency.  If this is something you could participate in, get in touch with the team at theroadtomilan2020@gmail.com for more information.

The trip will take 13 days, but there are opportunities to cycle 2 and 3 day-only parts of the course.  I’m not saying this is your last chance to cycle across Europe with a group of Celtic fans, but the corresponding anniversary of our third European final will not be until 2053!

  1. I was talking about the huge amount of posters who have problems with ads. on here. Why doesn’t Paul at least admit to it and apologise? Try to remedy it. Is he so desperate for the money that he will foolishly let the blog die? An explanation would be worthy.

  2. Insane in the membrane.

Under 2 hours forza a Marathon.

My wee Bro isnae the skinniest but done it just under 3. He is scarey committed to running and hard work. I blame his ma & da.

    Amazing Human feats.

Ryantula is getting to Callum levels.

    Magical Celtic.

  3. ‘big’ jimmy, Big Packy is a Drama Queen? Why not a Drama King? Packy is a happily married straight guy. Remember this, most vocal homophobic shouters are secretly gay! I’m not suggesting you are but it’s something to think about. BTW I don’t like knitting.

St Stivs, Jack & Victor! How many posters on here are pensioners? What is the range of topics discussed on here? Music? Millions! Cricket, golf etc. I drew attention to a poster on here about a year ago, he was complaining about politics being discussed. You know the column on the RHS of this site with popular posts? Around 3,ooo posts? It was all about Scottish Independence. He was right there in the middle of it all giving his opinion! Not a complaint, just an observation.

  4. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Morning all.

Can you help? Someone I know needs a bit of advice.

His bank have cancelled his account.

    He thinks this is unfair.

Admittedly he has had some problems in the past with tax, cash flow, legal bills and other debts.

But he hired a chubby chap a few years back and this stuff hardly gets mentioned now.

Anyway, his biggest problem is paying his staff without a bank account.

Ordinarily a white envelope stuffed with tenners would work but he has a lot of guys earning a lot of money.

One is picking up £65,000 …………. PER WEEK.

If he doesn’t get this sorted his enterprise will fold.

    Any advice?

    Hail hail

  5. Hello again all you young rebels.

Thought i’d post while my typing fingers are still working.

Beautiful sunny spring day here in Melbourne, 20 odd degs and heating up.

Great that we’ve opened up the debate why the best Celtic blog has stagnated.

I’ve stated my view and some maybe thought it was open to criticism, well

thats fair enough, it’s only my opinion and i respect other views, if it brings the

whole thing back to life then it’s job done.

Wee Grace watching today so no hun hunting, or so the princess said, ” Semper

Viglio ” they will appear sometime.

Decided to go to our local Lakeside club to feed the ducks lol, the wee barra with

her I wanna be Edooouard t shirt and me with my Brisbane Celtic CSC top, a wee

pressie from the bhoys up there in Queenies land.

No stickies about, well not that they would admit it but they know they need the

back up of the bigoted establishment to back them up, no chance that would

happen here, but i did meet a Partick Thistle supporter from way back, he must

have left Scotland just after Mel Gibson pummelled the Engerlanders, yes he was

    even older than me.

As you do we got talking about games in the days of yore and one particular game

when two little red heads battered the living daylights out of one another before

being sent off, it was surreal as everybody just stood and watched as the fight went

on until eventually the ref and others intervened.

One was wee Jinky the other ? maybe the name Cowan, but both went up the tunnel

with arms around one another, both huge tims lol.

This is when we miss Tontine Tim, why did he flounce anyway? come back mate and

assure me i’m not talking shoite as usual 8-))

One other point about that game if my memory is correct, the Thistle had the bigger

support that night, much to my chagrin, as a young bhoy nothing was bigger than

    anything Celtic.

Think i’m due a wee rid biddy now, my typing fingers are thirsty.

  6. I’ve been addicted to this site since MO’N days. Spent far too much time on here, but lately it’s become more hassle than it’s worth. Accessibility is the biggest problem. I have adblockers installed, turned JavaScript on and off. Problems I don’t have on any other site.

It’s got so bad that accessing cqn is now impossible via safari on my iPhone and iPad.

The workaround I have found is to download the opera browser app and use from there.

It’s still a pita with adverts just everywhere. Even as I type this the comments box disappears and I have to scroll up or down to find it.

I’m sure I’m not the only one with this inconvenience, and many will just give up, and find another Celtic site.

Maybe it’s a deliberate ploy by Paul to P off the malcontents and hunfiltraters and retain the diehard cqn’ers.

  7. Just a quick pop in to say I am greatly heartened by the blog over past 24 hours. There must be plenty more CQN Exiles taking a peep, if you are one why not restart posting, it doesn’t have to be prolific time consuming commitment, just the odd post to let us know you are still part of the CQN family.

Getting in a bit of a walk before the egg chasing. Check back later, even if just one exile responds it will make my day.

  8. Corkcelt hopefully Scotland will get to egg chase against Japan overwise the games a bogie. Japan must realise that going through on a technicality has no honour. Hail Hail

  9. Melbourne mick hope you did not think my tuppence worth was any criticism of your thoughts. It wasn’t. Just my take mate. Like you I think it would be magic if old and new posters and lurkers get back on and add that individual character to CQN. I certainty miss a few good peeps BMCUWP being just one of them 001 from your own wee place. Time will tell.

  10. The halcyon days of CQN were when the most excellent roberttressell and the scarey Ninja Ginger (phantom now) Were jousting.

Left wing, right wing. Both needed to fly. The Great Kitalba brought that comment to this Tremendous blog.

  11. CORKCELT

Its obvious all the old school posters are still interested in the blog and lurk.

You only have to look at the charity events

    Aberdour

    Celtic foundation

    Celtic roller-coasters charities

    Jobos poty

    Foodbanks

The prayers that are offered up

The interest and numbers are still lurking as most who’ve posted state its the ads that prevent many making the effort.

When posters come onto complain or moan about Celtic they get shot down for their views.

They might be happy the times we’re winning and feel the happy good vibes are well covered……

Or maybe they’re no fans 😂

One of the most endearing aspects of this site is it’s diversity of topics.

Over the years I have learned so much and have been prompted to research subjects I would not normally have looked up.

There is no denying that the adverts are more problematic that most internet sites, however since Paul 67 originated thus site many things have changed.

There is so much competition now and alternatives are at a single click. Even the giants like Twittering and the Facing Book are losing users.

I also think that the disagreements now pale into insignificance compared with years ago where the nightshift was x rated at times ( especially weekends ) The fact that the site needed moderators is telling and unfortunately aligns us with ” the rest “.

The blog has evolved in the past and will adapt in the future. To many of us the only glue we have is the love of Celtic . We are a much more enlightened and opinionated clientele now operating in a variety of social circles.

Remember its a blog, we need debate however if we follow the advice of Dena and “play nice” we won’t go too far wrong.

    HH to all.

  13. TOURANGABHOY

Absolutely not, i personally think all of my posts are open to criticism

it’s the way of the world and sometimes we all get full of ourselves.

Hope to get down your way sometime soon, maybe a beer or three

    will be partaken lol.

  14. PETC

I know for a fact that THEBARCAMOLE was not only impressed by the posts of ROBERTTRESSEL but he chose that name to post under.

Anyway, enough of my drivel, I’m positive the blog will hit the numbers again due to

    Brexit

    Independence

    Losing the league

    Or going for 10.

    Aff oaff. 😄

  15. PARK ROAD 67

Just catching up now, no doubt E will be bouncing about even with

her sore leg, don’t like that your scooting aboot like a blue arsed fly

maybe a green backed lizard is better lol.

    H.H . Mick

  16. GREENPINATA

Great post, and as for the lovely Dena ? well i’ve never had the

good fortune to meet her, but i’m absolutely convinced we’d get

on really well, ” maybe someday ” he says forlornly.

Think she should post more, maybe a lady’s touch would lighten

    us all up lol.

  17. ** A WEE WORKAROUND FOR LOG-IN PROBLEMS FOR ALL THOSE FORMER POSTERS THAT NOW TEND TO JUST LURK!**

    A REPOST FROM NOVEMBER 2018……..

Been meaning to say (since I returned from Lanzarote), a HUGE thank you to EMERALD BEE for some fantastic advice on improving access to CQN on my phone, tablet and computer.

For anyone on a windows laptop that’s still having issues with slow loading pages, etc then what I learned was how to switch off Javascript solely on the CQN page. The only downside is that with certain links that are posted you sometimes need to turn Javascript back on before the link will open. Although, right clicking on the link and choosing the ‘open link in new tab’ option often works fine.

So, to turn off Javascript on CQN (if using Chrome as your browser) then it’s –

    > Click on the 3 wee vertical dots at the top right corner of the screen

    > Click on Settings

    > Scroll down to the bottom and click on Advanced

    > From the list that then appears select ‘site settings’ or maybe ‘content settings’

    > From the next list that appears click on Javascript

    > 3 options then appear – on the one called ‘Block’click on ‘Add’ and then type in ‘www.celticquicknews.co.uk’ [THIS IS PROBABLY WHERE A MOD DELETES THIS POST!!!]

And that’s it – simples! My limited understanding is that Javascript is then disabled but only on the CQN site.

Thanks again Emerald Bee. Site access on phone and laptop for the past 5 days has been ‘just like the old days’ ;-)

I do still, occasionally, have problems if I’m not logged in. But logging in then sorts that.

Only a temporary solution but if it helps to get a few of the old gang back posting again then my work is complete!

  18. Anytime Melbourne Mick. Almost caught up last time I was out your way but things got in the way. Anytime you are in Aotearoa you will have a welcome in the Bay of Plenty. Hail Hail

  19. Tourangabhoy, Totally agree about Japan & Scotland. If they don’t play the game the entire Tournament is sullied, For the record if they do play it, I would expect Scotland to win & reach the quarter finals.

  20. Brilliant read back again guys.

Every time I read a post, I put myself in that posters shoes, where they are, what they are doing and how they get to watch the Famous Glasgow Celtic.

    I love it.

It’s like a wee film in ma heed.😂😂😂

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  21. Marspapa,

If we get 9. This site will explode with Happiness.

Getting 10 will be very very hard. :)

I think we will do it. Noone knows Anything though.

  22. Melb Mick,

G is Celtic to the core.

    Incredible Celtic supporter. Truly incredible.

2 Amazing lads in the seats in front of me made the Cluj game.

    The most amazing Supporters.

If I was in any position of Authority I know what I’d do.

  23. It is radio rental the figures going about now.

Celtic wullnae let OE go in January.

I wanna I wanna I wanna stay for the 10 (obviously if we have achieved 9)….. is the Dream.

£35m starting point, hopefully in 21 months Time, hopefully a lot longer.

  24. I remember the days when Paul used to post a couple of posts after an article. It seemed a bit begrudged but nonetheless was something. Now? Nothing. Can’t or won’t interact. Pathetic in my opinion. That’s why SC is more popular. You can talk to the owners. Who don’t get a penny.

  25. Corkcelt agree if they play Scotland will win. Will make a change. Would set up an interesting QFs. Ireland v South Africa very similar style. Scotland v All Blacks. We always get pumped out of the quarters by the ABs. Hail Hail.

  26. Jimthetim calling our host pathetic is exactly why I think Paul67 keeps out of the comments section. Start up your own blog mate or go to blogs where you can talk to the boss. We all have our own choices. Hail hail.

  27. PETEC

Celtic supporters have always amazed me, ever since i passed them

with short sleeved tops on trying to get a lift from passing cars on the

old Shap road going south to the Leeds game, and the snow coming

    down like a shroud.

    Amazing dedication.

    Thats the Celtic

    H.H . Mick

  28. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Navigating the site is definitely a pain – particularly on an ipad – although all devices seem to have some issues.

I might be wrong – but I got the impression that Winning Captains (late of this parish) had some part in helping Paul67 set up the revised ‘advert heavy’ site – but has subsequently shot the craw elsewhere leaving us with a wee bit of a mess.

Not sure if Paul67 is tied into an ‘onerous contract’ or just cant be bothered any more? Like some others, I discovered this site in its infancy and still look at it most days – particularly enjoy reading it after we have won and/or there is an opportunity to have a good laugh at Sevco.

But The Battered Bunnet makes a good point – the core objectives of the site were largely realised in 2012 when Rangers liquidated. I guess most people go elsewhere these days for hard core Celtic gossip, politics etc. – there are certainly plenty of alternatives so I guess that attrition is inevitable.

That said, I still enjoy reading many contributions – so sincere thanks to the guys who contribute and continue to educate me, inform me and make me laugh.

  29. My friends in Celtic,

Last Sunday we went to Merchant City to watch the game.

We then met up with some friends/ relatives who had just came back on one of the Gallowgate buses.

Our subject turned to Res 12.

One of the Ghirls; a very bright, russell group university educated, finance manager of >100 people, ST holder had never heard of Res 12.

After how many years ? We have failed, we have not delivered the message and I fear it is maybe too late.

We have not been persistent enough and the ongoing resistance has been apathy.

    HH to all.

  30. Greenpinata, how many times has Paul came on this significant site to talk about Res 12? For or against? The guy is a coward, sorry Paul.

  31. JIMTHETIM53 on 12TH OCTOBER 2019 12:11 PM

We have discussed Res 12 many times on CQN, and I’m sure Paul 67 has produced many articles re same.

Paul 67 does not deserve to be called as such, especially on his own blog.

Give me any forum that has promoted Res 12 more than CQN.?

Many of us have the tee shirt to prove it.

    HH.
