Edouard objectives, the road to Milan

155

It was only Azerbaijan, but Odsonne Edouard made another big impression on those watching the conveyor belt of French talent in their under-21 game last night.  He has now scored six in three under-21 games, which is the kind of form that would take him beyond Celtic’s reach were he not already at the club.

The objective should be to hold him for another year.  Beyond that seems unrealistically optimistic.

Cycle Glasgow to Milan – 23April to 6 May 2020

On 6 May 1970 the famous Glasgow Celtic played Feyenoord in the final of the European Cup in Milan.  Sadly, the heroic victory in Lisbon in 1967 could net be repeated against a team who were part of the golden era of Dutch football.

In 2017, our own Mouldy67 organised a group of 30 Celtic supporters for a cycle trip from Glasgow to Lisbon.  They arrived at their destination in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our first European Cup Final, while raising an incredible £85k for charity.

A bit like the Lions, one European Cup Final was not enough, so the cyclists are back, planning to travel from Glasgow to Milan to commemorate our second Final, in order to raise funds for the Celtic FC Foundation.

The route goes through Antwerp, Flanders, Brussels, Champagne, Dijon, and Turin before reaching Milan.  It is a professionally run event, planned by Greenrock, an experienced events agency.  If this is something you could participate in, get in touch with the team at theroadtomilan2020@gmail.com for more information.

The trip will take 13 days, but there are opportunities to cycle 2 and 3 day-only parts of the course.  I’m not saying this is your last chance to cycle across Europe with a group of Celtic fans, but the corresponding anniversary of our third European final will not be until 2053!

Posted this the other night, but may have been missed due to a bit of ‘BIG GUY’ handbags that took over the blog for a while.

It’s another piece of our exceptional history that I, for one, was not aware of.

We are privileged to be part of Celtic Football Club and can demonstrate how unique we are when any lesser team’s supporters say otherwise.

  5. Hello again all you young rebels.

Agree completely with CORKCELT regarding the popularity of the blog.

Not having posted myself for the last week or so and after Celtics defeat at

Livi i knew it would be carnage on here with differing views being argued

with venom rather than decent discussion as previous years.

My view is we need more interaction from P67 who seems to have abandoned

us to our own fate, and i completely understand why people can’t be arsed

trying to navigate a site that jumps all over the place and you can’t see posts

for ads coming up in the middle of them.

Normally i would never miss a night on the blog but they are becoming more

frequent now, but just like Corky i will try to post more frequently even though

i’m talking to myself most of the time because of the Aussie time difference.

    O.K OZ CSC news.

Our wee club on the rebel peninsula getting stronger by the day thanks to the

great work by Paddymacoz and committee, new members asking to join every

other week, we’re gonna need a bigger pub, and just like that the Dubliner in

Mornington have made us an offer we could not refuse, but… but.. so have

many others, so wait and see.

BBQ’S down at the beach park are already being planned as are the various

golfing days and dinner dances etc.

Aye, being a Celtic fan is hard going right enough 8-))

Meanwhile back at my home base our young team are back in spring training

mode, ready for the coming season.

Loads of new boys and girls, some recent immigrants all ready to be coached into

the next Tom Rogic or if we get our way the new Jinky lol.

  6. Well !!! big thank you ghuys , sometimes we all need a wee lift.

Hopefully as CORKY said the aul bloggers will come back, P67

will sort out the problems, and people will realise it’s only a blog

and there’s no need for anger or sarcasm, if something is posted

and it doesn’t suit you just switch it off, it’s that easy.

Yesterday, I recall the BBC Website had a story about England having possibly the best front 3 in world football.

Today, for some bizarre reason, I can’t seem to find it.

The issues with the site will be apparent to our host.

Without evidence to the contrary you cannot declare that Paul has no regards to what happens to his creation.

I would assume that steps are being taken to make the site more manageable.

    Why would anyone think otherwise?

  15. Well done to you guys who continue to support CQN. Our own Melbourne Mick continues to speak in admiral tones of the blog.I know he is deeply disappointed that a few of the favourite sons have absconded elsewhere. It would be great if people like BMCUWP would come back and entertain us.It has been an absolute pleasure to meet up with a few of you out here in the Peninsula. He loves it when arrangements have been made to meet up.It gives him a good excuse to let his hair down, HA HA. I,m not one for posting much but enjoy reading the intelligent wit of some of you. HAIL HAIL Paddy

  16. I have been on this blog since 2004. Living in NZ it us a lifeline to me on all things Celtic and a whole lot of other news and views from our community. I was first drawn in by Pablo’s (rip) music man every Friday. After work I would look forward to reading all the post while listening to the varied music and video links that he put on. Pablo and a number of other original posters were very welcoming to anyone new on the blog. There were some stramashes and plenty of handbags, even a few cyber hard men but generally the blog came back together and everyone agreed to the simple rules of civility. I have made an arse of myself a few times through an extra drink or three in the early hours here while folks are in there normal work time. A few good people got into fights that they couldn’t back out from and I think they always left for personal well being. That was balanced by the many many people who found comfort, friendship and mates on the blog, when thing were tight. The end is high debate is as common as the we need a left back debate. Paul Brennan is good enough to take the time to write a daily editorial a starter for ten. He doesn’t make money from CQN and he must only do it because of his passion for all things Celtic. I have no prob,em with Paul67 not actively taking part. I have seen some disgraceful comment fly his way. If you don’t like ads get an add blocker. Ask a child for help. If you don’t agree with a blogger scroll on by. I have seen some very interesting bloggers leave because the abuse just got too much. I miss the comedians, the bloggers who could make me laugh out loud. I keep hoping they will come back or new people come on for a laugh. When was the last ti e you seen anything awenawed? Anyway thank you Paul67. I still read CQN every day and enjoy being part of the CQN community. Thank you all who write something. I read and enjoy it even when I do respond or say too much myself. I wish you all a great weekend. We have an exciting team that are getting to know each other. Long year ahead with many bumps on the road. Sevco and sfa wont let the nine happen without an unfair fight. It will make the nine that much sweeter. Hail Hail CQN.

  20. Good Morning – Grand Wet Autumnal Morning, The Negative Ions Are Positively Uplifting The Mood.

    Interesting news regarding Ranger’s DCK.

A few years a-go, it was suggested when ToP got their teeth into his illegal takeover of Rangers (even if it was facilitated by the SFA) that, so extreme was the case and DCK’s attitude that a cold shoulder would be applied.

This would have stopped in it’s tracks DCK and his Board’s plans for Rangers. It would have stymied any dubious rebuild that had no watchdog or NOMAD checking it.

Still instead of the cold shoulder a long and drawn out legal battle took place, a battle where there was only going to be one winner but an extended battle none the less.

We have once again watched the establishment at work. How smart they have been to allow the process of the Rangers’ coming, to go unchecked while tut, tut, tutting in disapproval in the background. Even the auditors who year after year sign off accounts on the promises of DCK and year after year those promises are broken so blatantly, you can even hear the shake of their heads in disapproval.

So after Rangers has been allowed to flaunt the rules and regulations once again. Once the takeover was cemented and loans transfered to equity. Once they were on the path to the top of the SPL and we all can see “the Rangers are coming”. Now they act.

The meaningless cold shoulder against one man, a businessman who has been described as a Judge as a “glib and shameless” liar, who had no credibility to start with.

Another fall guy, will we see them queue up “Craig Whyte stylee” to dispose of another patsy…

    The Auditors

    The SFA

    The SMSM

    Even their own Board

Can visit mock opprobrium upon him. Now the jobs done. And of course and Rangers are “back”.

  26. Good morning from a dry and mild Garngad

Thank goodness Melbourne Mick is back, cause I for one love the tales of his Australian young team (football team) 😂 no a gang.

Like everyone else I would like the blog to get back to the good old days.

I loved listening to Tontine Tims Celtic tales of yesteryear, Melbourne Micks tales from Australia, TET’s and Weefratims, What Is The Stars, Corkcelt as well and many, many more, and of course my old friend Delanys Dunky.

So come on the auld team get back on and get posting.

I mostly lurk, but I love reading the blog and have done for 10years or so.

So anyone thinking of leaving please don’t, but at the same time if you do not agree with someone, just agree to differ and move on, it’s a blog guys.
