‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

Greenjedi beat me to it. But if there can be a CSC named Wim the Tim, he definitely counts.

ole Buck Owens- he knew the pain of heartache.

Boy meets girl, girl wins boys heart and puts it through the ole shredder.

  4. Craig Gordon:

To my mind he has been the best Scottish goalkeeper in my lifetime. Much better than Goram.

    However…

A goalkeeper with a very dodgy wrist/arm is a big risk.

If the gamble paid off – brilliant a top, top class keeper for years to come.

If the gamble didn’t pay off – a crock taking up top salary for 3 years while Celtic play a stand-in.

Aren’t you glad you’re not Neil????

  5. The answer to the Fraser Forster or Craig Gordon debate is easy.

    Sign Artur Boruc. Simples!

  7. CSA statement

Much has been said and written about what could and should happen in the event of a Rangers Newco being allowed back into the SPL without the appropriate sanctions. Supporters of clubs up and down the country have made it clear that sporting integrity must take precedence over commercial interests.

We have canvassed our branches within the Celtic Supporters Association, and the vast majority have declared support for a selective bhoycott of those clubs who support the admission of a Newco.

In the event of that scenario coming to pass we would then look to consult with the other major supporters groups, and with those who have an influence within the Celtic support with a view to calling an open meeting of as many Celtic supporters as possible.

We fully understand the very difficult decision that has to be taken by some clubs regarding the potential loss of commercial revenue through the likes of live television and sponsorship deals, but that cannot be allowed to be more important than operating in a fair and just manner.

If the boot was on another foot, like that of Dundee Utd, or Kilmarnock, do these chairmen think that they would not be booted out without it being given a second thought? and that goes for all the gang of ten.

There is a long way to go until all the investigations are complete, I believe in the coming weeks stories will come out which will be even worse than is already out there, and it may well result in court proceeding taking place.

I would say to all the other supporters who are not members of the Celtic Supporters Association, give great thought and consideration to joining us in taking action in the event of a Newco being allowed back into the SPL.

There will be plenty of opportunities to voice your opinions in the coming weeks, please feel free to contact myself either through our web site, or directly.

Just by way of some additional information, I was looking at some of the figures for fans visiting Celtic Park, in the season just finished, if you don’t count Rangers fans, a combined total of less than 4,000 supporters of other teams visited Celtic Park, on Sunday one of the Scottish Cup Finalists (Hearts) brought less than 100, and they say they don’t need us, well let’s just see.

  8. Clear out the dross/not-even-squad-players (thinks: Rasmussen, Juarez et al) and bring in THG and Gordon – let them fight it out for first choice.

  9. fanadpatriot on

Why would Celtic sign Gordon, with his injury history, but cancel Fujot signing because of his injury history.

On the occasions i’ve seen him play for Fiorentina this season he’s looked good. 15 clean sheets in 36 Serie A appearances with a mid table team isn’t too bad.

Not had a chance to read back guys, when is the hearing today due to begin ?

And do you think there will be an outcome ? or will they bottle it.

This might come in handy -someday .

Wim Jansen’s Ajax debut was away to Feyenoord .

Irate Feyenoord fan’s bombarded him with snowballs [ how could a Feyenoord legend sign for hated Ajax?] —- he was hit in the face by a snowball . He had to leave the field.

Heard it was a late afternoon/evening meeting & that it may run over to tomorrow with a result (depending on progress) on Friday.

THG was forced to lose a lot of weight when he joined Fiorentina, it

just amazes me how Celtic let him get into such a state.

    Boruc ——–?

Seen him on the Serie A highlights program most Sunday nights..

Much fitter and thinner than he was when he left Celtic .

Mostly good but prone to the occasional costly clanger .

“You don’t think he is waiting for other offers?

“Why do you think he is not signing?”

Like yourself I have no idea why Fraser Forster hasn’t signed a deal with Celtic.

There could be many reasons for this. If he signs, and I hope he will, then I’ll be happy with that. If not, then I’m sure the club are on the case and will have targets to go for.

  19. If I remember correctly FF said he would like to leave his signing talks till the end of the season which was three days ago…

He seems like a quiet big Bhoy and perhaps he thinks better with his Championship medal round his neck!

  20. henryclarkson on

Stipe Pletikosa for me was the one that got away, just a gut feeling he would have been immence with us.

  21. fanadpatriot on

I see Ruddy is in the England squad for the Euros, obviously Lambert thought he was a better option than FF,who he had on loan at Norwich.

  22. TMWTL, flicking through the latest WS magazine just confirmed to me that Germany will be the team to beat at the euros.

A very strong 11 and very strong young hungry bench, with Goetze and Kroos superb.

A fully fit Villa or on form Torres would make Spain favourites though. But neither is likely to happen.

  23. FF signed for Celtic on Europa Cup deadline day last season, I would hate for Celtic to wait so late this year.

  24. You would have thought there would be protestors outside Hampden tonight, rather than any protests on Sunday, where Sandy (Richard) Pullar Jardine when youneed him. Lets get the torchlights lit and a big bonfire. .

    Boruc ?

The Boruc is leaving Fiorentina rumors began when Fiorentina’s No 2 goalie [ Neto] claimed that he had been given assurances that he would be first choice goalie next season . Fiorentina have not denied those claims .
