There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC. Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.
The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities. The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo. Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business. Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.
It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League. Maybe not the wisest PR move.
John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

……….
The board aren’t due to meet till this evening IIRC, so they haven’t even started!
regarding kink kenny i thought he was a great player not just for us but for liverpool too but in last ten years he has really gone down in my estimation of a person.Met him at the concert hall at a rally and wouldn’t even stop to get a pic taken when asked and also the way he conducts himself on tv is shocking.

There no paddys market in Glasgow anymore. Is there?
Good afternoon fellow Celts.
Some interesting comments today on who we should bring in to our already succesfull squad for next season. Just a thought, if we are in the market for a striker, Hugo Rodiaga is on a free from Wigan. Does anybody think he is worth a punt . As for centre backs i think if Thomas Rogna can stay fit he will be a star in the future, same goes for Wanyama.
No decision yet I take it
No to Newclub

Awe Naw,
I find it hard to take Salmond’s political posturing seriously although it’s worth keeping an eye on.
As for Paddy, I’d consider that an act of extreme Hunskelping :)

While KD inherited a great team he also brought in Barnes, Houghton, aldridge, MCMahon, Beardsley & Molby to replace that team!

That would explain what Lafferty and the bold Craigy have been up to recently.
I hear the appeals panel are currently boarding up their windaes, is that a good sign?

Kenny Dalglish dropped in my estimation when he took the scouting role at Greyskull.
Allan MacDonald brought Kenny back to Celtic ( they were golf buddies) and
Kenny was responsible for John Barnes at Celtic (MacDonald accepted Kenny’s opinion that JB would be a great success)
The thinking at the time was that he would mentor Barnes. If I remember correctly he mostly played golf and left JB to get on with it.
It was a disaster and all three ultimately paid for the mistake.
Kenny at Celtic and Liverpool are two examples that in life you should never go back.

Spot-on Sir.
The Onlooker,
Did Kenny not sue Celtic upon departure as well?
I was only a cub at the time but seem to remember something about that

Celtic paid the price as well for Dalglish’s compensation. He went to court to get a tidy sum from us.
I knew there was a reason I just wanted to remember him as a Celtic player.
WGS
If you’re looking in, what did i tell you about Dalglish?
When he was appointed i gave him 18 months and he would be history
A £100m spend to finish 8th and beat a Championship club on penalties
Martinez for Anfield is where my money is going
Only Kenny and Henrik would have got into the Lisbon Lion’s team.
Kenny was a player but NEVER a manager in a squillion years.
Glad he’s been sacked. Couldn’t stand his miserable face. Neither could the owners apparently.

Stairheedrammy – presumably in ‘the green zone’?
How long would we have been stuck with Barnes if Henrik hadn’t broken his leg?

Danny McGrain would have got in before either Kenny or Henrik.

Rieperman ,
You make me feel old.
He sued for wrongful dismissal.
We should be grateful that Barnes/Dalglish filled a temporary gap between Dr Joe and Martin O’Neill.
MO’N was not free to come to Celtic when we first approached him , but when he signed his new contract with Leicester he made it a condition that he was free to talk to offers. If Barnes had been marginally successful and had lasted ( say 2 years) MO’N would probably have moved on to a ‘bigger’ English club and we would have missed out on him.
Right time right place , right outcome.

Also, the name Rafael will forever be synonymous with Dalglish’s time at the club circa 13 years ago

I needed that! Great.
Would rather remember Kenny as a player .. Dalglish has proved through the years he is no friend of celtic he is only interested in one thing ..Himself ..proved time and time again ..HH

Billy McNeil reckoned Danny McGrain, Kenny Dalglish and George Connelly would have played in the Lions team.
KD was a tremendous player – his transfer to Liverpool started my dislike of that particular club with their arrogant attitude that somehow they had ‘discovered’ him.
That apart – am I right in saying that he won his first managerial league title as player manager? That was a hell of a feat even back then.
Unfortunately he has a very poor manner and attitude. Lacks the wit of Strachan so just comes across as awkward, defensive and obnoxious when interviewed.
His handling of the Suarez affair was truly dreadful. I suppose it will be back to Hillside golf club with his mate Hansen….
Is it better to have done some pretty impressive things for Celtic on the park than to be impressive when asked to write a newspaper column or answer daft questions on Shortbread?
