‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

If we’re after a quality keeper I’d hope Paul Robinson at Blackburn is on the radar. He must fancy a change and european football. Sound keeper with great experience for our young defence to play in front of.

  2. Awe Naw,

That’s what I’ve been wondering too.

Although I have also been wondering how on God’s holy earth they can possibly claim that punting the lot (squad, stadium, training ground etc) for 8.5 mill comes anywhere close to achieving the best deal for creditors…

  3. Word on the street is Rafa Benitez will return to Anfeild.

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson has stated that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance against Milan’s Ambrosini and Pirlo (which he watched live) left an impression on him and has now selected the Arsenal youngster for the Euro’s.

That would be Ambrosini who was suspended that night and Pirlo who er…plays for Juventus.Doh!

WTF! He won the English title with 2 teams and even though he had plenty of money, many of clubs have shown that money doesn’t buy success if you don’t have the right guy in charge.

Not the manager he once was, but he was a great manager in his prime.

    Mr Z..,

sounds a decent sort, but money can be a big distraction, I believe thats what happened to AB.

If your right then good luck to him and I’d hope he’d accept any decent offer we make.

  10. greenjedi – it’s all about opinions and I totally disagree with yours :-) He was a disaster with us and his antics around the Suarez affair this year were disgraceful too. Question – do you think he would have done as good a job at Everton as Davie Moyes has done? Now there is a good manager. Loved Kenny to bits as a player but have never rated him as a manager. Mind you, I don’t particularly like Benitez either and if the rumours are true about him, returning to Anfield…..

    Awe_Naw…,

I’d hoped at the time HMRC were disputing administration appointments, that they had an open book on D&P and that their acceptance of D&P was a ‘give them enough rope’ strategy, I still hope that.

I think Dalglish had his cards marked over his mishandling of the Suarez episode – had that not happened he may have been given another season.

As a Celtic player he has provided many fond memories for me.

My abiding memory of that eejit will always be from the reserve game at Ibrox when he was relegated to the reserves for his behaviour on international duty.

With his back to the GB as Celtic were pumping them to win the league (just after the birth of his wean), the song rang out:

‘The baby’s not yours, the baby’s not yo-oo-urs, Alan McGregor, the baby’s not yours..’

    And then…

    It’s Paddy McCourt’s, It’s Paddy McCourt’s, Alan McGregor, It’s Paddy McCourt’s’

You should have seen his face ;)

A shadow of the manager he was before Hillsborough, sorry to see King Kenny sacked. My favourite player as a youngster, until The Maestro came along. Thank goodness he never took up football management, I would have hated the axe to fall on The Maestro. Hx2

  22. greenjedi Yes but I don’t agree about his earlier record either. Inherited a sqaud at Liverpool and bought a title for Jack Walker at Blackburn. Only my opinion though and not going to fall out over it :-) steinreignedsupreme – as a player he was peerless, only second to Jinky of those I have seen in the Hoops.

If one of the defining measures of a sportsman’s greatness is the level of innovation they introduced to their respective sport then Hogan has to be the greatest golfer of all time- remember he suffered a car crash at his “peak” that nearly killed him.

We will always question Woods as the greatest- even if he surpasses the Golden Bears record- due to the overall quality of his opposition: Nicklaus was up against Palmer, Player, Trevino, then later with Ballesteros & Watson. Woods significantly better golfing equipment is also another factor to be considered when his record is scrutinized.

  24. Canamalar

I see another good thing in possible transfer. After two years in Liverpool, move to Glasgow would not mean big changes to his personal life. He must speak well English.

  25. but having now been reminded of Hillsborough I will say that he deserves every credit for how he handled that very difficult time in Liverpool, and football’s history!

A public service announcement for any lurkin’ Hillbillies:

‘Greater Manchester Police are investigating a scam in which victims were conned into handing over hundreds of pounds for a bag of potatoes.

Police say at least four people have been approached by two men offering to sell them a laptop or iPhone.

One man paid up to £1,400 and walked away with a rucksack full of potatoes. Other victims received bottles of soft drinks.

Police said the conmen spoke with a Motherwell accent.

Both men are believed to be in their late 30s. One has a scarred face, is around 6ft (1.8m) tall and has stubble or a goatee beard.

The cases were reported in Bury, Govan and Ashton-under-Lyne between 15 February and 1 May.
