‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

At his peak Danny McGrain was the best right-back in the world.

Danny was so good that he was moved to left-back by various Scotland managers to accommodate the inferior William ‘Sandy’ Jardine in his natural position.

  2. For me the whole economic v moral debate – as will be argued by Chairmen looking after their own club’s interests- boils down to the TV money available with and without the hvns in the League.

Since home clubs keep their gates there is no economic benefit of a trip to Ibrox for anyone other than Rangers.

Assuming Dundee replace them in the league and they drop to Div 3 , if voted in, ask yourself this question. How will the travelling fan gate be affected in the following games….

    Dundee Utd v Dundee

    St Johnstone v Dundee

    Aberdeen v Dundee

    ICT v Dundee

    Ross County v Dundee

    Hibs v Dundee

    Hearts v Dundee

It’s my contention that in the above fixtures Dundee will bring a healthy travelling support and that amongst home supporters the more casual fans may be inclined to go along knowing they do not have a bigot fest on their hands and can safely bring their kids to enjoy a Saturday out.

That being so the economic argument falls on its face and Scottish football can look itself in a mirror so the only question the SPL Chairman should have for Doncaster is what is the effect on the value of the SPL contract with ESPN/Sky with or without them in the league? It’s a five year contract. They will be back to curse us in Year 4.

    Henrik V Kenny.

For me, no contest,..& I am not judging the inherent talent of either man.

Henrik came to Celtic & then became a Celtic legend & a Celtic SUPPORTER.

Kenny, despite his magnificent contributions on the park, NEVER became a Celtic supporter.

The King of Kings every time for me.

  5. Kevjungle,

Haven’t been able to get through to those jokers for a while.

To be honest, I don’t care anymore. No amount of media spin can save the taxdodgers now.

I prefer to sit and listen to the guff happy in the knowledge that they’ll all be backtracking furiously in a few weeks.

I might even give them a call then.

Just glad they played for us and that I was (still am!) alive to see them both.

    Real football players.

  10. The Lions just clicked into a superb TEAM. Best ever team out of Scotland. But……………

Individually some of them shouldnt get into an all time best Celtic.

There were better players around in the sixties which were picked for Scotland before most of the lions . Even allowing for antiCelt bias. Bremner ,Gilzean ,Law ,MacKay ect.

Chalmers and Wallace were not as good as Henrik . Lubo and Dalgleish probably better than Bertie. Connelly and MacGrain superior to Clark and Craig.

Best Celt of all time…….Henrik Larrson!

  12. When we watched KK score against rangers, and seen that fantastic smile,we ALL felt he was one of us,his departure to Liverpool was,in hindsight, something that simply had to happen. It made me,and many like me,fans of the english club, all because of our admiration for one of Celtics true, all time greats. He then became a manager, writing even more chapters to an,already amazing story. All these achievements elevated him to hero status, rightly so,fast forward to the attempt by a consortium, containing, among others,KK,whos aim was to take control of our club, when this news broke,Fergus Mc Cann advised Celtic not too touch Dalglish with a bargepole.I admit, this statement really shocked me,at the time,it seemed nothing short of treason, sadly, but, not surprsingly,Mc Cann was absolutely right,IMO,Dalglish was an unmitigated disater for our club.We all know of his ridiculous appointments, for me,the most glaring example of his disdain, was giving terry mc dermott a job because, wait for it,”he’s a good laugh”,he reduced us to a laughing stock.Even then, taking everything into account,I could probably have forgiven KK if he had simply walked away, but, despite his complete culpability in what was a very dark time in our history,he decided, and,it was entirely his choice,to take Celtic to court, how he could stand up and defend his actions, given the glaring and hugely expensive errors committed under his stewardship, was for this fan,a bridge too far.In summary,Kenny Dalglish,as a player,2nd best to ever wear the hoops,as a human being,I am sure this post wil leave no-one in any doubt regarding my feelings in that respect.

  13. Re Sutton

When strachan came in at parkhead he instituted a new training regime Sutton went to him privately and explained that due to his previous injuries he had operated a personal training regime for previous 2/3 seasons and that MON had let him follow this routine to allow him to play in games WGS told him that as he was now boss sutton had to do it his way or leave In my opinion it was a no brainer sutts couldnt do it so had no option but to leave

Neil Lennon would like to sign Fraser Forster but Celtic can’t get hold of his agent. If I was FF and I wanted to stay at Celtic I would be giving my agent a swift boot up the erchie. If however I was looking for a move ,I might tell the agent to make himself unavailable. Be a shame to lose the big fella but it’s not looking good. If Craig Gordon is over his injury problems he would be a first class replacement, but that’s a big IF.

  15. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!..Truth and Justice will always prevail on

Snyde have stated that mr green is attending the appeal……how can he be allowed to attend when he is not actually the ranker’s owner..?? ….he is carrying out due diligence………. Shocking and amazingly stupid….what IS going on..?

  17. The upcoming Mark Daly doc sounds well tasty.

“As this proud footballing giant stands on the brink of extinction, BBC Scotland Investigates the inside story of the scandal which brought Rangers FC to its knees.

This is a programme based on dozens of secret emails, letters and documents which uncover the truth behind the tax scheme which threatens the club’s very existence, and reveals what went on behind the scenes in the run up to Craig Whyte’s infamous takeover.

From the day Sir David Murray took up the reigns at Ibrox, through the nine-in-a-row Championship years to the ignominy of owner Craig Whyte’s reign and the plunge into administration, this programme charts the descent from glory into chaos of one of

    Scotland’s great institutions.

Along the way, investigative reporter Mark Daly goes in search of answers to the questions every Scottish football fans is asking, and attempts to confront those who are responsible for the Ibrox club’s plight”

  20. The onlooker @17.15,Inm sorry but, there is simply no way we should be happy about the barnes/dalglish disaster,it was nothing short of shambolic.

  21. I think it’s probably a good sign we don’t get the decision till after the cup final as they know the stupid huns will try to disrupt the final. (as they’ve discussed already)

Let them stew for a few days.
