Emilio back on form ahead of Camp Nou

693

Over the summer I could frequently be heard muttering, “We need a left back”.  Despite returning from injury at the turn of the year, Emilio Izaguirre was unable to command a regular starting place in the team.  His occasions starts provided evidence why.  With Charlie Mulgrew the most authoritative central defender in the squad the left back slot looked like our most vulnerable position.

Emilio’s early form this season was no better, especially in the Champions League qualifiers, but recent weeks has seen the player return to his very best.  His confidence seems to have returned as he is taking opponents on with purpose which had been missing for over a year.

On this form, we can look forward to seeing him test himself at the Camp Nou.

  1. Evening QNers,

Apols if covered before but did Sevco set another World Record with Mr Green receiving a ‘not proven’ at his hearing?

Does anyone recall this verdict ever being used before in a football hearing?

You may well be right, but Tommy is good at getting people who normally have teams of underlings protecting them from the calls they don’t want to take to talk directly to him. He has a gift. Maybe he got through at just the right time.

I will mull over what you are saying.

Ogilvie’s comments are worthy of scrutiny nonetheless. He tells Tommy that he doesn’t read any websites “any more”, but assures him that he heard his call to Jim Spence. He gives a clear indication that they know the registrations did not include all the details. He says it would be preposterous to expect him to see everything that goes through his organisation as a reason why incorrect international transfer certificates with less-than-complete information may have been sent from Glasgow to Nyon or other parts of the football world. Nobody expects him to see the invoice for the morning rolls, but Fifa is clear on the importance of these documents and demands accountability.

So does the SFA, if it’s Dunfermline or Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Cup.

  3. Andrew67 , if you’re still around .

Following on from BSR’s excellent step by step guide , I have a pro and recently had the ‘grey screen of death’

Have you tried booting in single user mode ?

    1. Shut down your Mac if it is on.

    2. Press the power button to start the computer.

    3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) key and one of the following:

    the “s” key for single-user mode. (Command-S)

the “v” key for verbose mode. (Command-V)

You have successfully entered single-user or verbose mode when you see white text appear on the screen.

To exit single-user mode type reboot then press Return. Verbose mode exits automatically when the computer’s startup process progresses sufficiently and the blue screen appears.

    Then ….

you could try moving through your file directory at linux/unix level and deleting some of the redundant data .

    Good luck.

  4. I asked the wife to listen to Tommy speaking to CO.

She would be well sussed at peoples reactions etc. being a Dr. of the heid, anyways, she reckons CO was caught off guard at the very start of the call, he was surprised Tommy actually got through, he said something about being on a direct line.

She thought that was very important.

As the call went on, after he realised who he was takling to, he could have ended the call at any time, she reckons he didn’t cos he thought he would be cleared of any involvement, and he didn’t end the call, as to do that would implicate him, he wanted to show his innocence.

She also thought he sounded very nervous, she also thought he sounded as guilty as sin, but as she could not see his reactions and manerisims, she wouldn’t swear to it.

Guilty as charged would be the verdict.

Spot on but it also holds true for David Taylor. It is Ogilvies role as Rangers secretary that will be investigated but not by Nimmo. Ogilvie has the license issue possibly to contend with for this comission apart from receiving an EBT he may not have secretly administrated any under the auspisces of the SFA.

  7. Awe Naw

Well I agree with the comments that Ogilvie seems to expect still to be in his job when the commission presents its findings.

He was at pains to point out to Tommy that, as he left Rangers in 2005, a lot of the period under scrutiny was not on his watch. He raised an objection to “misinformation” saying he was secretary of Rangers until 2010 (internet bampots must have said that).

What he didn’t mention was that for a little more than his last two years at Ibrox, he held, in parallel, the position of treasurer of the SFA.

But don’t forget: he couldn’t be expected to see everything that went through. That would be preposterous.

And ask him that if players registrations were indeed invalid will or won’t he be seeking compensation from either UEFA or the SFA for loss of revenue when rangers knocked out his Kaunas side in the 2001 champions league qualifiers???

If you follow the EBT timesamps then Ogilvie during the Advocaat years was club secretary when it was at its most extravagent. From an SFA perspective all of them up until Ogilvie again funny enough.

At SPL then Lex Gold ? Rodger Bailey??? Bain and Mc Lelland

But … UEFA might protect Taylor if he is implicated in any way – which is a worry

Could the Armageddon threatened be the death of the sfa, if all investigations are seen through, then Scotland would be banned from FIFA & uefa

  19. If the FTT comes back that the huns did infact cheat the HMRC out of millions, and the huns did infact register player illegally, then we have meltdown.

So what are the implications ?

The horse trading that Awe Naw speaks of must be at the forefront of our suits, do we press the button, no, we will never do that, we should, but we won’t.

So what do uefa and fifa do, they have to cave in to any demands we are making.

I await the FTT and Lord Nimos decisions with baited breath

No I think they are hoping Sevco will pick up that bill eventually. Anything non transfer related was Oldcos issue no comeback. Anybody still not happy take it to CAS. CAS will toss it back. See FC Sion. ECA make no proclamations they wait to see if Sevco can float and be viable. A few lifetime bans and FFP promises. Close Ranks. Like it or lump it. End of.

Wind velocity was never mentioned by myself, and I didn’t know about Thomson’s blog at the time. He’s more a Van Der Graaf Generator man where contact with some passing element of the story produces lots of whizzing particles al of a sudden. However nothing can happen before this Thursday and I hope for the Zombie-inducing rage tale then or soon after. The other story, which is big but not exclusively about Rangers, should follow on, CERN permitting
