Emilio back on form ahead of Camp Nou

693

Over the summer I could frequently be heard muttering, “We need a left back”.  Despite returning from injury at the turn of the year, Emilio Izaguirre was unable to command a regular starting place in the team.  His occasions starts provided evidence why.  With Charlie Mulgrew the most authoritative central defender in the squad the left back slot looked like our most vulnerable position.

Emilio’s early form this season was no better, especially in the Champions League qualifiers, but recent weeks has seen the player return to his very best.  His confidence seems to have returned as he is taking opponents on with purpose which had been missing for over a year.

On this form, we can look forward to seeing him test himself at the Camp Nou.

The meaning of the ‘Celtic Cross’ on the red background symbolises the Green Brigades devoutness to Born Again Pagans. The knotwork, spirals and key patterns on the carved cross represent the early Pictish heritage of the brigade and how tight the bonds bind. But don’t be fooled, the Green Brigade banner did not have a Celtic Cross but rather a Chi-Rho cross and it is a military insignia and victory symbol, some might have you believe that it is masonic in influence. The twines on the circle they strangle Christian virtues. The red background is recognition to the right-wing communist ideals of the born again pagans and their ethos and duty of galactic colonisation.

(Stalin and Lenin both had druid affairs and are much revered in the Green Brigades ranks)

Never fear though because the intelligence agencies of several planets have the Green Brigade under electronic observation, they will be beamed up, reprogrammed and returned culturally cleansed at an opportune time.

Would the early kick off have impacted on the crowd for fans who had to travel a distance?

Irish and English based fans, for example.

    ………………………………………………….

Here’s one supporter who wasn’t there. I looked forward to the game all week long and was desperate to give The Bhoys my own rousing reception after their heroics in Moscow. I went to 10 o’clock Mass (just to make sure of a home win – some of you will know what I mean) bought SoS and went home to make bacon butties for the wife and me and sausages for the Grandson. Sat down and had a leisurely read through SoS came to the Sports pages and then it jumped out at me, right off the page – Kick-Off 12.45pm! Time on clock 12.20pm. There was no way I would make it across to CP in time.

For some reason I had it in my head that it was a 3pm kick off. I can only think it was because so much was made of us kicking off at 3pm last Saturday for the first time in 7 years and I somehow got confused. Thank God it was on the telly.

I’m beginning to worry about myself. My wife says it’s because I no longer work to a timetable after being subject to one throughout my working life. I’m still worried.

Time travel: saw a film @ the weekend called ‘Looper’ ; very intelligent sci-fi time travel yarn, simultaneously nonsensical, but we enjoyed it.

See this business of you can’t occupy the same time as another version of yourself? Well, if every single cell in your body is different from the same cells seven years before, then if a seven year (or more) older or younger version of yourself travelled through time to where you are now, then that rule would not apply, surely, Shirley?

Apart from all the other difficulties…..

……anyway, Looper was really enjoyable and I will be buying the dvd on its release.

If I could travel in time, I would constanty surprise Sally and I.D.Smith by popping in and out of time and booting them in the cojones on a random basis.

I would do lots of other things but a wee bit of crazy nonsense goes a long way to relieving the tedium.

    =================================

    Nice one, Miki.

Been debating whether to go and see Looper – couldn’t make my mind up if it was another lame Bruce Willis vehicle or had any intelligence in it at all; just going by the trailers I’ve seen – tend not to want to hear too much about plot, etc before seeing anything in order not to prejudice my appreciation.

On that note – saw Dredd the other week; a REAL surprise after thinking the trailers were dull.

Best uncompromising action sci-fi flick I’ve seen in years. Harks back to the 70s/80s no-nonsense ultra-violent (although beautifully done in comic-book overkill style) hard-edged thrillers, and perfectly captures the monolithic Dredd character in all his Harry Callaghan-inspired glory.

An explosive must -see amid today’s fad for emotionally-vulnerable introspective ‘heroes’.

  5. RCO: “There’s a lot of misinformation on this. They [the commission] have the facts. I’m perfectly well aware I was at Rangers. I’ve never hidden that fact [see Campbell? see transparency?]. If they feel I’ve done anything wrong I’ll stand up and be counted. No problem. Naturally with my role at the SFA I’m constantly pulled into this publicly.”

Nobody are asking any pertinent questions about anything.

They know if they do it’s all over, over for those who ask the questions as well, so silence is the order of the day.

Tis sad, sad that these people are complicit in the destruction of the game in scotland.

Fascinating stuff and the first time I’ve listened to that.

I’d have to say that, given the amount of time and patience CO showed towards Tommy and the level of detail he disclosed in his answers, I heard a man who remains confident that his part in the “wrongdoing” was minor and not a matter for resigning.

Surprisingly to me, for someone who has laid low for so long, he sounded neither flustered nor guilty and his answers did not betray the traits of someone rehearsing a story.

In what he leaves unsaid, I am guessing that either administrative details for registration of Rangers players were NOT illegal on his watch, or he is already the whistleblower who has been blowing the gaff on this all along.

Well, Phil Mac said he had a source at the SFA. Who better than the bould Campbell?

I agree that Tommy has done us all a service in unearthing comments from a source who seems willing to speak up to a point, but, from whom, the press has not unearthed a word.

Could be, but I think it’s better than that.

First they never had EBTs. Then they had them but they were legal. Then HMRC were going to do a deal. Then a Bill (Ng, Miller, anyone else called Bill) was coming in with wealth off the radar. Then it was nailed on they were staying in the SPL anyway to avoid Armageddon. Then it was SFL1. Then it was SFL3, but only because they wanted it that way …

Bhoys, meet the new strategic argument for the defence of their club …

  20. A point on Sunday`s attendance before I go. Celtic , after an away victory in the CL had over 46,000 at their SUNDAY LUNCHTIME KO game. Chelsea, after an away victory in the CL had over 41,000 at their Saturday 3pm KO game. Celtic were third (?) in the SPL prior to KO, Chelsea were top of the EPL. So, Timbhoy 2,Micky1888 and others, explain to me again why you consider 46,000 is somehow a reflection on Rangers` disappearance?

What is intriguing me is that CO actually spoke to Tommy.

He twigged right away who he was, it would have so easy to say no, in a meeting too busy…..he chose not to.

Do you think that Gordon Smith, on hearing Tommy’s tape, will be shouting for a good lawyer or do you think it was George Peat who was rangers inside man.

I have to say that David Taylor sounded as relaxed as Campbell when Tommy got him on the phone. These guys either have massive brass necks or they are not The Guilty Ones
