Erik ends difficult year with loan move

412

I know we all liked big Erik. He brought instant calm to Ronny Delia’s team when he arrived two years ago today. But, while 2016 started authoritatively for the central defender, it ended with him looking pensive and out of his depth at Ibrox, albeit in a Celtic win.

2017 has been largely forgettable for the player. This season has effectively been a write-off for him, after an injury in the Champions League qualifiers. It would have been better for all if he got a permanent deal elsewhere but at least a loan return to Midtjylland will afford him time to regain his confidence, hopefully leading to a new deal elsewhere in the summer.

I am sure we are still looking at the central defensive space for this month.  There could be more in and out.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT NOW FEATURING TOMMY SHERIDAN

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 30th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Kevin Graham is joined by Scotty Alcroft to interview Scottish pro-independence politician, Tommy Sheridan, at The Penalty Spot in Glasgow.

The interview took place as part of A Celtic State of Mind’s first live event – Five-a-sides at The Penalty Spot – and, as such, there is some background noise (including mobile interference – apologies) from the audience.

The other voice you may hear throughout this episode is that of former Celtic striker, Frank McGarvey, who is a friend of Tommy’s, and who was also interviewed separately that day for a future show.

You are sure to enjoy Tommy’s eclectic input, as he discusses everything from Catalan independence to Coolio, with a constant undercurrent of that thing called Celtic.

SOS for a ticket for the Hibs game-and aye,I know I’m in a queue!

Two of my Swindon Celt mates are going up for the match, season tickets in hand. Another one is going up,but without one.

If you can help me out with this,I’d be extremely grateful. The fella has been in Swindon since he was 6yo,still got the Glasgow accent, and more Celtic paraphernalia than anyone I know. And Celtic tops that even I didn’t know existed!

He’s Celtic daft. If anyone can help him out,it will sure be going to a good home!!!

Families who have never worked a day in their lives having 4 or 5 kids and the rest of us having 1 or 2 means it’s not long before we’re drowning in a vast sea of unemployed wasters that we pay to keep!

  5. In my experience no one tells a tale like a Cork man. the stories I grew up listening to my Grandad (RIP) telling were incredible in every sense. I still have no idea to this day if he made half of them up or not :-)

The auld man was also very much a RTTC. Loved nothing more than telling all and sundry that he was from the revel county.

    re.queue for tickets.

I think Almore has been sorted via Hebcelt. I am 95% certain that I have tickets sorted too.

This is the only queue I noticed on here so the good news is that you are now at the front.

Maybe if the Thatcher government hadn’t set out on a scorched earth policy in the industrial heartlands, people would have other things to occupy their time.

What are people supposed to do,wakening up to four walls and no future every day? Getting blitzed on drugs,or booze,or just staying in and having sex, that’s about yer options.

An absolute disgrace that for forty years, huge swathes of the population have been consigned to the dustbin and then attacked because of their circumstances.

I remember a few years ago, when PHILVISRETURNS,a bloke I actually quite liked on here, said that there were enough jobs for everyone if they could be bothered to look for them. But they didn’t want to work.

I suggested that the next time he went home to Coatbridge,he have a right good look round. And that if Coatbridge didn’t convince him,I’d take him for a wee stroll around The Three Towns,Ardrossan,Saltcoats and Stevenston.

The old One Nation tories from days of old would have wept at what The Three Towns has become. And places like it.

Bradley would have demanded that their benefits be cut along with their vas deferens.

It’s not a win win situation when you’re only doing it because yer life is going nowhere. Aye,if you’ve got a wee bit of time to yourself in an otherwise busy wee life.

Not much fun, btw,if your giro disnae stretch to any of them!

  12. BMCUWP,

Aye i know, been there and old enough to remember giro’s. Even these days £60 a week dont go far, thats if you’re lucky enough not to get sanctioned.

  13. STORY TELLERS ?

Far be for me to try and belittle any other man from Cork or anywhere else from having the ability to tell a good story….but as a true Glasgow man, I would give any man from anywhere a run for their money especially after 9 or 10 pints, and I’d ju be getting warmed up !

CORKCELT….So you knew Rory Gallacher mate ?

That’s not bad, but I once met and spoke to Wee Jimmy Krankie in the Post Office….beat that !

  14. Back in the 1980’s when I first was unemployed for the very 1st time, the Dole office refused to give me a penny in Benefit, although I had no savings whatsoever.

They expected my then 1st wife to feed and clothe me and pay ALL the bills including the mortgage.

when I asked them “I will need bus fares to get here and back home whenever I sign on”…they refused that request also. My then wife was only a Clerkess in anoffice

I then told them to ” Feck Aff…I won’t be signing on then” !

Some time later, I eventually got around £38 a week, If I remember correctly ?

Bassa’s the lot of them !

    Oh,me too. Soul destroying.

And even worse when,on one glorious occasion,Sutton Borough Council tried to force me out of a long-term house share with friends. Life-long friends, who carried the burden for me while I fought my case.

Aye,we had a lovely house between us,but my share was only £250 a month. They refused to pay it,and I kid you not, sent me photocopies of adverts in The Evening Standard of bedsits available-nowhere near Sutton,btw!-for £35 a week.

There was no way I was lying down to that. Being unemployed sucks everything out of you. Being subjected to that level of abuse by a council didnae half give me my strength back.

I’ll never forget that. And that’s why I try my best whenever I can to help people in a similar situation.

Celtic have made their move for Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic – but have been told to up their offer, according to reports in Turkey.

The 32-year-old Serbia international has been heavily linked with the Scottish champions in the past month.

apparently his club want £4 Million ?

  19. BIG JIMMY on 17TH JANUARY 2018 11:28 AM

Once met wee Jimmy Johnstone in a club in Blackpool in the 80’s. I wanted his autograph but had no paper so he signed my white t-shirt. Would still have it but my then burd washed it next day, came right out, she’s never lived it down.

  20. So the chip wrappers are linking Celtic to underbidding (3 million euros) on a 32 year old (33 on Friday) {born exactly one day after me spookily} serbian centre back Dusko Tosic.

Besiktas are in the last 16 of the UCL, does that mean he would be cup tied for Europa League?

I know we signed Commper who is 32 but another 30+ defender would seem strange and signify a very different recruitment model.

One summer towards the end of the 70s, when I was a student, even casual/seasonal jobs were scarce and I had to sign on. £38 a fortnight.

POTY do a few years back,I asked The Living Legend,Daniel Fergus McGrain to sign the leatherette case on my iPhone. My reasoning being that I’d lose a scrap of paper, but hopefully not my phone.

Sadly, the phone stayed active for one minute every time I closed the case. And Danny’s signature faded into oblivion.

What it actually points to is not enough huns buying the daily Ranger , so they are trying to lure in some Celtic fans. Don’t fall for it.
